he looks and sounds like his name is brodie.
It is
he looks like a joseph to me
He looks like gareth bale
Mang Vum he knows
@@AG-ur1lj yeah
Try releasing the disc more vertical. Also, the more spin you can generate (wrist snap) it will hold its flight better.
Thx!!! Tried this throw and during ultimate frisbee in gym ( but there was goals at the ends to shoot it in) i scored 3goals out of the 4 goals for our tema using this throw!
Thanks, this really helps, I've always wanted to learn the way you throw.
@FlawlessPlay Both great throws in your arsenal. I will add it to the list.
@Andrewcunningmusic thats known as the double helix hammer...you have to angle the disc more vertically on release to make sure it doesn't do that...but for long hammers its sometimes ok for a double helix
@lax8196 try throwing the disc with more a different angle to the ground. Like flatter would be best
@wackNLR2003 slightly but the angle of the disc at release will help you more...try throwing the disc more vertical
@mywomanisbig probably has to do with you not snapping your wrist and forearm enough. Really work on that snap and that will help generate spin you will need to have a great flying disc.
@TheSean228 Haha good catch! Didn't even see that. I did something pretty sneaky to fix it. See if you can figure it out lol.
@Youknowhubbard tri's, bi's chest, and back for the upper body. Also having a strong and flexible shoulder is great!
@boombox129 you got it! on the list! thanks for the suggestion!
@havone2 With the hammer I see some people pick up their right foot and some people keep it down. Do whatever comes natural because after playing around with it, for me it didn't change any part of my throw.
@AbSoluteZeWoah With the hammer you want to do what comes natural for you. So i wouldn't say there is a right and wrong way of pivoting. Feel it out and do what works best. For me I don't really move my right foot that much but it also depends on the type of hammer
@krakatawa1 no but the nike carbon flywire are the best cleats i have ever tried
The backhand pull...
@boombox129 i like the idea...what is the staker?
@gibsonsg0425 One thing you can check to see if your doing properly is the angle of the disc on the release. For big hammers (40 yards plus) you want the disc more vertical on release. So if the disc is double helixing like you say, you may want to tweak the angle a bit and release the disc more vertically.
@Prozakk08 It sounds like when your releasing the disc it isn't vertical enough. By changing that it will help from having the disc turn over. Try that and see if that helps the disc from turning over.
Now with regards to having the disc fly out to the left and curve back. That deals with my arm motion. Too hard to explain just in writing. Would you like a video on that?
If you are doing the Frisbee Trick Shot Challenge I would watch this!
@Lerkki To be honest I have seen the most different types of variations when it comes to the the lower body. So I would honestly say do what works best for you. For me thats being kind of static but using a lot of torque in my hips and core. Its an awkward motion to start with because when throwing a ball with your left hand your taught to step forward with your right foot. And in frisbee left handlers right foot is their pivot foot. So just do what comes natural and is comfortable to you.
4:12 he look like nailed it! XD
I used a hammer throw to great effect when I played double disc at the University of Hawaii back in the early 80's. I had to be throwing it wrong, cause instead of straightening out at the end, the disc would stall, then drop straight down, but it was totally uncontrolled, so it was very hard to judge where it was going to land, so it gave my opponents fits. After seeing this, I guess I'll go dig out my old discs and give it another shot. Thanks for the memories. Really good times...playing all night, quaffing beers and burning doobs. Yeah, really good days.
@ishue i generate all my power from my upper body...no need for me to really use my lower body...but taking a step forward will help you get more distance
most misleading titles on youtube
instruction 2 hard, dik catched in ceiling fan
you would really expect him to throw a hammer man
+firefie2 lmaooo
firefie2 lol
Why would you search how to throw a hammer if you're not talking about frisbee .....???
@bballdevil545 Florida Swag Competition is coming very soon. And A pivoting video is in the process of being editing.
Thank you Brodie. I have been trying to throw a hammer all the time.
@Prozakk08 Explain that to me again. Sorry I don't really understand what your asking.
when we started playing ultimate at school i could not throw a a disc at all, i watched some of brodies vids and now i am in love with ultimate and i am okay at it so thanks brodie your vids helped alot!
They really do!!!
Yo Brodie,
Going to see if I can throw my glitch this way. Learning a lot from these older videos. Good look at the worlds this week!
Many of us have grown up throwing balls where the main throwing motion comes from your arm. As a result, when you throw a hammer it feels more natural to use your arm(as if you're throwing a baseball). On another note, try throwing fully with your arm with a mark-you'll find that snapping your wrist is the only way to get off that hammer without smacking your mark in the face on the follow through. It will also allow you to get more spin on it, allowing it to fly further and bite the wind more.
@carsonblakechris The beat was created by a friend... trying to get him to upload it. Sorry for the wait
Thank you gareth bale for teaching me this wonderful trick
The music is called Hip Hop Instrumental [ Legend Flow ] for anyone wondering!
I've a final test tom and while i was studying i decided to watch some vedios so i can understand it more but man my arm started hurting me only by watching the vedio !!! BTW thanks for you effort i think this is so helpful for the people who really want to learn how to play
At 4:35 the arm motion and wrist snap is so fast, it's beautiful.
@Prozakk08 will do
I can throw the best hammers out of my team thanks to this vid. Thx Brodie, you're awesome!
@MinnesotaVikingz try throwing it more vertically...if you want to take a video of you throwing we wouldn't mind taking a look at it
@brodiesmith21 I believe it's where you grip the rim of the frisbee right-side up with thumb on the inside and index on the outside, and then use your thumb for leverage and throw it from you neck...if that makes sense. Also, a video with basic catches and trick catches would be awesome.
@TommehLi no its upside down the entire time
@MinnesotaVikingz so its floating down to slow? is that what your saying?
@dude7597 throwing vids are up!
The hammer is my favorite throw too . Thanks again brodie s.
@tadisc Yea im curious!
@aamidjaythreepointoh can you send me a video of you throwing it?
@FrankCarnation 175g
Watch the video. You don't want your wrist cogged back when you go into the throw, keep your wrist straight. When you get behind yoour head, cog your wrist back, then snap your arm and wrist at the same time when you throw. To solve the S curve, you can position the disc more vertical or you can throw more direct than before. Hope that helps
Gareth Bale ?
@tadisc alright u got my interest...what is it?
Finally learned the difference between throwing a hammer and throwing a scoober. Thanks, Brodster.
Great videos! I liked the game clips at the end. I'm going out for my first practice today.
i learned it thnxs bro i did it a couple times outside and masterd it ur the best
Good videos. Easy to understand. But in a game there is going to be called a travel on the last throw for sure. even if it's too close to call, that motion with your leg is enough for alot of players to call it on.
@SMGK32 Idk its like my pre-wag before a golf shot
try throwing it and a different angle or stance and get a really good snap behind it. Don't try to overpower your throw cause it'll just wobble and flop over.
Watch brodie's video about advanced hammer throws and try both and other variations
The Discraft Ultra-Star is the most-used model. Try discstore. Basically and Discraft 175 gram is what you are looking for.
Since when gareth bale plays frisbee?
@brodiesmith21 yeh a video on the disc flying out to the left and curve back would be great! thanks alot, i would appreciate it alot
@boombox129 haha ok i will try and wrap my head around that one and see if i can do it
the interactive transcript is awesome!!!
you should do a video with a set of advanced throws to give people ideas. not as much explain how to do them, but showcase a bunch of advanced throws (e.g. thumber, staker, scoober, etc.)
Agreed!!
I remember when this video only had a thousand views. I wish I could have screenshots that
whats funny to me is that i just started and this is a really easy throw for me thenks for the help brodie
thanks dude just tried in back yard works real well
thank you brodiesmith but i still need to practice the grip cause when i flick my wrist beetween ng thumb and pointer finger hurts.....but this video helps a lot on how i should throw it right to be accurate and positions and how the frisbee should fly thank you very much....
Thanks Man! you got better explaining than other people
@requiemforacloud dont think so
Your a frisbee legend
@diploitalian The THUMBER! you got it
Hey love your stuff! You should use a colored disk so we can see it better up against a white sky
@FlyByeFilms just be relaxed when you throw, nothing bad can come out of being a bit relaxed. if you try to hard you will usually do something wrong.
Nice throw, will def be trying it out next time.
@samboyadzu try using more wrist flick and less arm. Practice with shorter distances to get the solid flight and build up from there.
I like the hammer highlights at the end.
Same
Do you think it would be possible to make a video explaining how to low release forehand and backhand please! i'm working on my low releases and i'm having trouble releasing it quickly and accurately.
I'm looking to get better at Ultimate Frisbee, what exercises/workout/drills do you personally do to get better? Thanks.
Could you do a video on throwing and catching in the wind and rain?
All hammer throws will eventually dip down and cause an S curve, you have to throw the disc more vertical to prevent it from happening to soon.
Lol at like 5:10 ish, that hammer sure broke that cup :D great vid man, I was looking forward to this, passed my expectations.
He really is good.
thanks for the tips brodie.appreciate it.
Hey Brodie, really appreciate all the tips on improving throwing motion. Do you think that picking up your right foot when you are throwing your hammer is a problem that I should try to fix or should I keep doing it the same way?
Poor guy, it's been more than 11 years, and he still hasn't had a response.
nice video! thanks from germany!
What weight would ideal for this throw? Lighter might make it fly all screwy but could make it go further depending I guess... either way def will try this out on the next band tour!
JUST TURN IT ON FOR THE WHOLE DAMN VIDEO I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!!!
@brodiesmith21 could you also do something explaining the airbounce and skip (on the ground) throws?
Also, snapping your wrist more will help the disc travel the maximum distancw
check his website in the description. there are some quality standard discs for cheap its where i got mine!
like it was a great time and helps me a lot
buy a disccraft ultrastar 175. they're USAUltimate certified discs and they're the only ones i use. Look at the description on this video and go to the disc store and click "Standard Discs" anyone with the stars as the logo for $7.89
Turn on auto-subtitles and pause at 2:40
Daniel Hernandez aka 6ix9ine yea
I am 12 years old and I can throw a 40 yard hammer with perfect aim, and this video taught me. Thanks to you Brodie I am now a master at hammers.
@aamidjaythreepointoh For long hammers it helps to lean away from the shoulder you are throwing it on, so you can put more arm into it. It also helps you put lower body into it. This will make it have a lower release.
Hey one question. Are there different types of frisbees that might not be able to use hammer or is it that every frisbee is able?
Nice video. Thanks!
What's the key on throwing a long distance hammer?? Mine seem to be wavy and overturn at times.
Someone is proud to go to Florida
just get used to throwing it more, and by that i mean get the right angle down and get more snap and power behind it and it'll even out.
Hey Brodie, is there any pivoting in this throw? In your video it looks like you're getting the power from the shoulder and hip rotation but is there any pivoting or stepping out for this throw? Like when your throwing right hand flick you step out with your right foot and throw it, but do you do anything like this for the hammer? It always seems like I have awkward footing when throwing this.
The song name is 300 violin orchestra
Ehhhhhh, no.... Its "hip hop instrumental - sickest beat ever"
