This is very true I had this problem as a high school student. I wish I knew and understood these truths then. I was always smarter than my grades allowed my student body to see.

This is very true & it's the problem I had with more detail oriented subjects. I knew things but didn't know how they were interconnected

    Thank you!
Ive always done this but others thought it was cheating that I gained so much without trudging through the chapters page by page.😅 Of course the subject matter dictates this much…but now as a senior citizen, I skim and reskim to my heart’s desire ❤

50pgs of 1 chapter right? Or Going through the entire book?

Going through entire book is very advanced. You can do it after 2-3 year of practice using High order techniques.
For now one chapter or unit should be your goal.

or use table of contents to make an initial mindmap, then skim thru the book for small basic details of each topic. make connections for every detail you get.. then go deeper ,make connections so on and so forth

@@learner02 that's a good idea ! But wouldn't it be the same in the second round? Like I'll have to go through the entire book again ? 🤔

@@jishajain7341 you will go through the same material but with different motive.
1st time - write main keywords or important words , understand their meaning, search Google , create curiosity, use AI .
2 nd time - make a basic mindmap Try to understand little bit of big concepts you know. Understand how all things are related or how you can make sense of it using logic instead of memory. Use mnemonics, your own explanation etc .
3rd - more of the 2nd but for smaller concepts.
4th - finer details , practice lot , set up learning systems (flashcards or questions)

in textbooks the important words/phrases are in bold or in italics; otherwise you just have to speedread it until you see some phrases and words that you feel are important. These first phrases that you choose don't really matter that much - in time, after gaining more understanding, you might choose to redo the map. This first step is aimed at creating a skeleton off of which you can hang more and more knowledge.

Look at justins video on ultimate cramming guide,a relatively recent video.... there, he says the important concepts are the concepts that are connected to so many other things meaning it can explain other concepts or there are so many other subconcepts under them... for example in pharmacology the most important concepts will beabsorption excretion distribution and metabolism. But less important concepts will be like bioavailability first pass metabolism, clearance and the rest.
