i'm so glad that they decided to use primarily jazz, funk, fusion, and lounge music as the theme for this amazing franchise. it really makes the game feel very fun and high quality.
For Japanese, they believe that racing and jazz go together very well. It's the search for the ultimate thrill and the satisfaction of a groove that seem to match between the two things. Both are hard to master and their adherents quest endlessly for perfection, yet find peace in the imperfections. The US soundtracks to GT games were pretty bad and just whatever was in the Top 10 at the time. I much prefer these timeless tracks.
For being part of the OST for a video game, this is genuinely one of the highest-quality pieces of jazz fusion in general for me. This could be easily placed in a playlist alongside tracks from 'Chameleon,' 'Bitches Brew' and 'Heavy Weather' and no one would think twice about it.
