I can't believe that you just posted this video mate..... I had to perform this EXACT operation only last weekend!!! My hobby wing 1060 on the General Lee lost all power totally a few weeks back...... process of elimination got me guessing that it was a faulty switch (which indeed turned out to be the case) I had an old eighties lunchbox that we use as a parts car and robbed the switch off that. It's only when I popped the tabs and had both switches apart that I realised they were wired up differently on the 3 internal tabs! Anyway, after reverse engineering both switches I managed to get the old Tamiya one running on the hobby wing esc..... Jobs a gooden!! Wish you would have posted this video a few weeks sooner! 😂 As for the solder.... I still use stuff from the eighties, it's much better than the modern stuff if you ask me! "Always have a clean tip"...... Giggidy! 😂 😅 🤣..... That's what she said! Great video fella! 👍 👍 👍
Man... just lost my whole comment..... First, glad you figured it out... Second: @ 2 years ago I did this with my Blockhead Motors Wild One Off Roader and thought about making this video then. 3rd: Alllrrrright!!!!!!!!
Hiya Bob. Well that's the longest 4 minute video I ever watched! 😅 Good information and well done all the same! Haha, I still use soldering stuff that's over 30 years old too, as you say it still works good and probably better than the lead free cr@p you get these days. Anyways brother, a great solution to a very annoying problem! Cheers! 🍻😎👊👍
It sure was mate.... But at least I have a disclaimer, LOL.... Don't get me wrong, the HobbyWing on/off switches do work and work good.. They just don't work well in most Tamiya kits (I can't speak of other kits). ATB my friend...
Hey Bob, a nice switch tutorial 😊😊like that you and I use solder and flux from years ago, thrifty stuff 😂😊😂 it’s a nice economical modification and works well. Hope you and the family are keeping well 😊😊
Thanks Jeremy... As I said, I did this on the Wild One I built @ 2 years ago... Sometimes it feels like I'm gonna break the little HW switch... This just makes it easier to mount in a Tamiya kit.
Useful content, thank you for uploading. With 50% of lead, you may consider some ventilation for personal safety reasons. Of course the soldering was done really quickly, but still.
Thanks and I was in a big room with the AC circulating air around, Thank You for the concern but at almost 60, I do know better... Granted, some people don't...

Nice work Bob!👍😊
The 1060’s are real nice but aren’t conducive at all to Tamiya kits.😩
