I legit cried at the end of the doc when Fab is performing "Blame it on the Rain". Like damn, that dumbass producer could've just let them sing with some vocal lessons and Rob might still be with us.

Right!! I’ve always said they weren’t the strongest vocalists. But hell I’ve heard worse and these ppl made it. At lease Milli vanilli could carry a tune. And just like u said some vocal lessons woulda helped them!!! Rest In Peace and Power Rob!! 😢😊🖤😘🥰

Fab Morvan is an awesome dude and a real example of resilience, perseverance, and never giving up on yourself. It takes a lot of courage to live the life he’s lived and maintain his positive outlook. He’s risen above each challenge and keeps moving upward. Very inspiring guy, and he’s also an excellent singer FWIW.

In 1989 Milli Vanilli played at the L.A. Marathon. My friend and I saw them rehearsing. We just went up and watched, nobody stopped us. We got a private mini-concert. Thank you Fab and Rob! I wish they would have just let them sing, they were incredible performers. You could tell they were like brothers to each other. ❤

@questlove What a beautiful and thoughtful episode. Fab has truly made a life for himself and it's wonderful to see. More broadly, I'm sure y'all know this already, but this body of work you have made - an oral history of (sometimes, but not always!) black music - is absolutely incredible and essential. For those of us that are Gen X or elder Millenials, it's the backstories to the soundtrack of our lives. But for the younger ones, especially the aspiring artists to be able to hear first hand about the way the industry has worked, and to learn from those that lived it in their own words is *invaluable*. For real for real, I sincerely hope you eventually find time to create a foundation or something to make sure these voices are always available for generations of artists and music lovers to hear and learn from.

I can understand that the first people that came around to do a documentary made Fabrice feel a little dirty with what they wanted to do to create a rude sensationalism of these guys.
I saw the documentary, and Fabrice was absolutely fantastic, beautiful, wonderful, and so lucky. He has a beautiful family, great singing career, and most importantly, a good person who has learned that taking care of himself and has found LOVE is the most important thing. ❤️ ❤

Another terrific episode! Happy to see Fab come out at the other end of those trying years with such a bright and forward-facing attitude. It's such a shame that Rob didn’t make it but Fab is doing them both a great service with his openness about their story and the exploitation that they and the band were put through. Milli Vanilli, along with Public Enemy, NWA, MC Hammer, Teddy Riley (and New Jack Swing) were the soundtrack to the latter half of my high-school years. A time that I cherish.

Artists and peoples abroad the Diaspora linking to engage for relations is of God. Personally, I was relieved to learn we had talented brothers and sisters in Germany and France.

Not sure if the @questlove team will ever interview any South African Headz, but I now that he is fascinated by how Hip-Hop/Hip Hop/hip hop Culture spread throughout the world. I am from a sub-section of Cape Town and we got glimpes from between 80 to 82 and then bombarbed in 84.
Besides movies, music videos and magazines that had snippets, we had family or freinds who had family living in exile and they would send packages. But in 1983/1984 there was a world tour of BBoy's from the US who came to our "hood" in The Cape Flats and gave BBoy classes.
Then factor in the Universal Zulu Nation and the start of a Chapter in Mitchell's Plain Cape Town and things exploded. Interconnected with Zulu Nation Chapters worldwide, we shared music, magazines and VHS tapes from France to Australia to Switzerland to the UK and US.
It definitely did not look like it did in the US though, as we were Headz and Headz had to try All Elements, whereas in the US it had started as individual Sub-Cultures. If you did try all Elements, you were not a true Head 😂

Fab is amazing... In so many ways.
This woman is offensive. For a mixed race female she hatin too much.
Farian was an exploitive asshole but he loved soul. He didn't disrespect Fab because he didn't have green eyes.. Farian disrespected Rob, too!
He chose universally agreed upon beauty, not "closer to his own." Rob and Fab looked NOTHING like Farian. Read up on what the world finds beautiful. It's been studied. And Shaw, et al., didn't have it.
All these things make this woman look bad. But the host, excellent job! Great interview! Thank you!

Am not going to front I loved that album the production was tight, I was too young to understand what happened I just thought they were faking. But as a producer now this music industry got two young men and exploited them. That album went probably double platinum nobody went after the producers, the executives just them. Now all the jokes don’t seem funny RIP to Rob.

This guy is the poster definition of a corporate plant. He was an experiment that went wrong. Imagine that, 35 years ago. Just think what the hell is out there right now. A legion of talentless hacks that get a pass because they gradually dropped the quality on music until the newer generation have no clue what real music is and they gobble it up. I went from memorizing 100s of songs on the radio and tv until I hit my mid twenties to just refusing to pay attention to new releases anymore. Because of people like him. No my dude, you can turn 65 or 105, you will be known as that corporate plant that copy cat black american culture forever dude, like thats permanent in the annals of history bro.
