If your intention is to use a self sacrifice room, you shouldn't turn down HP especially with Little Chad. Instead of having to refill on spirit hearts that may or may not drop, you'll have a ton of red hearts available to you after clearing the floor.

Can he please stop nudging bombs instead of just putting them down? I don't understand why he does that or what the advantage is (at least in terms of finding secret rooms, fighting enemies is different)

The hairpin gives you full charge when you enter a boss room. so if you have a half charged D6 when you enter it gives you full charges.
