I had zero faith this would work. I tried to trick the computer that the gate was closed so I could try to keep the radio on at the drive-in. Something got jammed up and about 2 months later the tail gate light came up on the dash and the gate stopped working. This definitely fixed first try. 👍👍👍
I came across your video because I literally just installed my wife’s trailer wiring in her 2018 Pilot and now ours is doing the same. I have actuated the lock and release manually a few times now and still no go. I’ll keep trying though. Thank you Bob! *update (2 hours after original comment): I could not get this fixed as Bob said he had luck with on his 2018 Pilot. I played with it for quite some time and ultimately I had to disconnect the battery again with my hatch still open, reconnected the battery, started the car, touched and held the power button on the infotainment system for 3-4 seconds. I then reached up on top of the open hatch and grabbed the opener and it very slowly lowered on power. Once closed, I turned off the car. Started it again and it worked seemingly flawlessly after that.
I tried your method, and it worked on my 2016 pilot, while the video method didn't, so thank you very much for taking your time and explaining how you fixed the problem.
