Chrysalis has basically become Sunset Shimmer before reformation. She's not a mastermind anymore, she's not a supervillain, she's just mad. She's angry and just wants to win. She'll be the one to change herself. The mane 7 (because starlight is part of the team) will probably be saved by Chryssi. At least I hope so. If done right, it'll be heartwarming and may even make us shed liquid pride ☺
The mane 6(at least in season 6 and beyond) is Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie, Flutternutterbuttershutter, Rarity, & Starlight. Princess Twiggy Wiggles is basically celestia, but with brain functionality.
I am so in love with the fact that the opposite of awkward friendly Twilight would be a great villain. A genius who is confident in her power but not too arrogant to fail by overlooking important details? Heck yes!
This is an important episode. Chrysalis is now desperate. Desperate and revenge hungry is not a good combination. This is where she now does something at the end of the season that really fucks everything up.
I quite liked that they never saw each other. It was more of a setup episode, getting things into place and letting us know what Chrissy is up to. The pay off will happen another day when there is more time.

I just love how everyone is so caught up in laughing at the way they portrayed Chryssie, or else complaining that the episode didn't end on a cliffhanger that they've missed the obvious. SOMETHING happened to the elements, and, frankly, actual living beings or not, draining away somecreature's lifeforce like that hardly seems to be the sort of thing the Elements of Harmony would be known for doing, anyway. And, personally, I viewed Twilight's ending comment that ". . . if we can survive a day like this, I think we can survive anything", as being more than a tad bit foreboding. I think the last half of the season is going to reach out and slap all of us in a way that this first half really didn't. I think they were really just taking their time and setting us up for whatever is going to happen next.
Yes! More Chrissy for the win! I have a feeling this isn’t the last we’ve seen of her, seeing that she flew away without having taken her revenge. I hope we see more of her, because I love me some Chrysalis!

I like how this all turned out. The tree killing the clones due to them being unworthy of the elements was a great way to end this. This perfectly showed how far Chrysalis has fallen and that she is still blinded by her own desires for revenge, despite it perpetuating her own ruined life. In desperation she devised a plan without all of the necessary knowledge and it backfired. Think about it if the tree hadn't stopped them, Queen Chrysalis would have been finished off by the product of her own hatred and only avoided this by dumb luck. Due to how Chrysalis managed to sabotage herself because of her own negative feelings, I honestly wouldn't mind her being redeemed later while also not needing a specific outcome to be happy. As long as its done well, I'm fine with whatever direction they take.
Better plan instead of Chryssi’s: Break starlight’s spine, and force her to watch as they torture and murder her friends in the most painful ways imaginable, even some you can’t. But no, no, that’s not how evil plots work, or the megalomaniacal villains they’re attached to. There’s got to be machinations at work, and then a big reveal, where the villain’s like “Remember me?” and then they’re like “NOOOOO!” and then you get all the hugs-er I mean servants. All the servants.

I’ll admit, when I first saw episode 12, I was sure she was just there to help the CMC, and also teach them a lesson, as AppleGeek mentioned in his review, but around the time “What Lies Beneath,” was released, I kind of started to see that Cozy Glow was actually being very deceptive as a villain.
I wouldn’t really call me greedy, actually now when I think about, no one else would call me that ether But, I can really relate to mean Rarity’s insanity
This episode was woefully underwhelming. For such an epic buildup, it was disappointingly hollow. There were some good laughs and info dropped in relation to my theory work but really not what I expected. As per the Elements possibly corrupting, I think not. I think they just sensed darkness and purged it.
On the flip side, I went into this with no expectations whatsoever and came out absolutely loving the whole thing. I'm beginning to think that all the people who complain all the time about being disappointed or underwhelmed are simply overhyping themselves to the point of ruining the episodes for them. The show is so much more enjoyable if you don't get too caught up in spoilers and/or fan theories.

That's right, you thought they're just regular plant but then, those pesky little plants steal nutrients and spaces to your crops. Pinkie Pie (Greyscale): Gloom - Stereotype and Pinkie's depress state Twilight Sparkle (Midnight Sparkle): Power - recalling sci twi corruption in equastria girls and wanting to learn magic aka "corrupted knowledge." Sunset shimmer (Dawning Void) since she's confirmed can be a substitute to magic/humility = power/pride

I just now, 2 minutes into your video (after having seen the full episode previously) noticed that the photographer's cutie mark is a ladybug XD I absolutely adore the attention to these details that they put in there...
It is cool to know that the tree of harmony is sentient enough to see through the clones. Which means something in the tree is alive enough to keep the peace and be the real bodyguard of the elements.
While part of me does like that the Elements of Harmony were able to defend themselves from the evil doppelgangers, a greater part of me wonders why the same thing didn't happen to Sunset Shimmer? Is it the proximity of the other bearers? is it their proximity to each other? Was it Discord having a laugh? Was it a spell that Starswirl placed on it so as to protect the product of the seed he and the other Legends planted? Is it like a Sword in the Stone "only the worthy may retrieve them from the tree" sort of thing? I love the little bits of world building that is done in MLP when questions arise. But i like things to be consistent at this doesn't seem to fit that bill very well yet.
This episode be my new second favorite episode of S8(that didn’t last long for “Molt Down”). I like how Chrysalis showed up in the middle of the season instead of a two-parter finale. It’s a pretty cool twist to get the mane six opposites again but, in a different manner of bringing them back(Chrysalis performing alchemy to resurrect them). This episode was very funny, definitely one of the best of the season in my opinion!
I really love what they did with chrysalis' evil plan in this episode! I really hope they do multiple episodes where she comes back with more evil plans and have all of them fail in equally silly ways! That would be an awesome recurring thing they could do.
Here’s how the season 8 finale should go. Chrysalis enlists Tirek to help her fight the Mane 6. However, with Discord’s help, the Mane 6 defeat Tirek when Chrysalis deserts him. She runs away to plan another attack, but a mysterious new villain finds her, and after thanking her for making his job easier, he reveals himself as Grogar and kills/destroys Chrysalis. Cue season 9 centering around Equestria battling Grogar for the final season.

SOMETHING happened to the elements, and, frankly, actual living beings or not, draining away somecreature's lifeforce like that hardly seems to be the sort of thing the Elements of Harmony would be known for doing, anyway. And, personally, I viewed Twilight's ending comment that ". . . if we can survive a day like this, I think we can survive anything", as being more than a tad bit foreboding. I think the last half of the season is going to reach out and slap all of us in a way that this first half really didn't. I think they were really just taking their time and setting us up for whatever is going to happen next.

I love how all of your predictions for this episode were way better than what actually happened.
I like how this all turned out. The tree killing the clones due to them being unworthy of the elements was a great way to end this. This perfectly showed how far Chrysalis has fallen and that she is still blinded by her own desires for revenge, despite it perpetuating her own ruined life. In desperation she devised a plan without all of the necessary knowledge and it backfired. Think about it if the tree hadn't stopped them, Queen Chrysalis would have been finished off by the product of her own hatred and only avoided this by dumb luck.
Due to how Chrysalis managed to sabotage herself because of her own negative feelings, I honestly wouldn't mind her being redeemed later while also not needing a specific outcome to be happy. As long as its done well, I'm fine with whatever direction they take.

I’ll admit, when I first saw episode 12, I was sure she was just there to help the CMC, and also teach them a lesson, as AppleGeek mentioned in his review, but around the time “What Lies Beneath,” was released, I kind of started to see that Cozy Glow was actually being very deceptive as a villain.
One thing for sure is that the finale is gonna be interesting. We have these two villain and a potential one working together to destruct the school.

This episode was woefully underwhelming. For such an epic buildup, it was disappointingly hollow. There were some good laughs and info dropped in relation to my theory work but really not what I expected.
As per the Elements possibly corrupting, I think not. I think they just sensed darkness and purged it.
On the flip side, I went into this with no expectations whatsoever and came out absolutely loving the whole thing. I'm beginning to think that all the people who complain all the time about being disappointed or underwhelmed are simply overhyping themselves to the point of ruining the episodes for them. The show is so much more enjoyable if you don't get too caught up in spoilers and/or fan theories.

It is cool to know that the tree of harmony is sentient enough to see through the clones. Which means something in the tree is alive enough to keep the peace and be the real bodyguard of the elements.
While part of me does like that the Elements of Harmony were able to defend themselves from the evil doppelgangers, a greater part of me wonders why the same thing didn't happen to Sunset Shimmer?
Is it the proximity of the other bearers? is it their proximity to each other? Was it Discord having a laugh? Was it a spell that Starswirl placed on it so as to protect the product of the seed he and the other Legends planted? Is it like a Sword in the Stone "only the worthy may retrieve them from the tree" sort of thing?
I love the little bits of world building that is done in MLP when questions arise. But i like things to be consistent at this doesn't seem to fit that bill very well yet.
Who knows, maybe this was just the beginning of something bigger......*I hope*

This episode be my new second favorite episode of S8(that didn’t last long for “Molt Down”). I like how Chrysalis showed up in the middle of the season instead of a two-parter finale. It’s a pretty cool twist to get the mane six opposites again but, in a different manner of bringing them back(Chrysalis performing alchemy to resurrect them). This episode was very funny, definitely one of the best of the season in my opinion!

I really love what they did with chrysalis' evil plan in this episode! I really hope they do multiple episodes where she comes back with more evil plans and have all of them fail in equally silly ways! That would be an awesome recurring thing they could do.

Here’s how the season 8 finale should go. Chrysalis enlists Tirek to help her fight the Mane 6. However, with Discord’s help, the Mane 6 defeat Tirek when Chrysalis deserts him. She runs away to plan another attack, but a mysterious new villain finds her, and after thanking her for making his job easier, he reveals himself as Grogar and kills/destroys Chrysalis. Cue season 9 centering around Equestria battling Grogar for the final season.
