Got nothing on the British ramp rolls of the 90s. Even today’s ramp rollovers in Britain are far better than this, the Belgian ones at Warneton are great aswell
They don’t even have these anymore at this track. Junk cars became expensive and they didn’t get enough drivers to enter so they stopped the event altogether.
Do you have the old Riverhead figure-8 video that was aired with the rollover contest? I have fond memories of watching that flagman run up the straightaway waving the flags with the field bearing down on him.
Christopher Evans they have other types of programming now and it costs alot of money to put something like this on the air. These local short tracks generally don't create enough money to put themselves on a major network like ESPN.
canadiancatgreen unfortunately they don't run this event anymore. They stopped about 10 years ago and just recently paved the infield where this took place.
I saw ,witnessed a guy in a 53 chevy in 1969 at the now closed Norwood arena, roll 23 times. better car, better construction, stronger round body. needless to say he won.
I could watch this for hours they are never on long enough.
I was like 6 when this aired, as an adult from LI I go to RR every year, this was amazing!!
This was re aired I believe after the '96 Pepsi 400. I had it on the same tape for years. Nice to find it again.
I never got to go there which is sad. I used to live just 15 minutes fron here in Laurel

I would love to know why ESPN don't show these kinds of things anymore?

@@RCR37 they need speed channel again with more local track racing
Must have been a slow day in sports to put this on ESPN. Still fun to watch though.
This was over 25 years ago. ESPN was different back then.
No roll cages😒
so what is the common car for these, These days like now not at the time of the video use to be the Honda Civic

But I meant the roll over contest in general not just at this track
canadiancatgreen I don't think there's a specific make or model. I think they just want to use any type of a small lightweight car they can find.
Civics SUCK
