10 Standard Firefighting Orders

We are having some fun today! We are learning some basic fire education and going over the 10 Fire Orders of wildland firefighting. The orders are arranged according to their importance and grouped in a logical sequence: fire behavior, fireline safety, and organizational control.
Do you know all of them by heart? You NEED to, 1. becasue it can save your life and 2. you will be tested on them before you can get your red card. Get creative and find a way to mak them stick in your mind so when the time comes you will pass with flying colors!

Ha! That's really funny Ronni. Stick people and simple shapes as a memorization tool. If it works for ya' go for it!
Beginning in the middle of the last centenary I learned and taught the 10 SFFOs the more sedentary and old school way- as a very elegant trilogy of trilogies. Early in the 10s history there was very good training literature that presented it this way. Worked for me and most of my young FFs over 30 years.

Yes, depending on your agency, it will NOT be a fun time if your captain or Squad Boss asks you one of the 10s & 18s and you don’t remember… it’s like a test that never ends lol
