    Yes. Battliefield 1 is the most casual so far.

    • @AkumaDante12
      @AkumaDante12 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Pablo Horteg battlefield 1 is far more casual BECAUSE of how bare bones it is. There is so little in the way of things to use that everyone has the same things and levels the field for everyone. Skill plays a VERY small part in it if you already know how to play AAA shooters.

      And the suppression in BF1 is more of a joke than its ever been. Also you guys talk about the gadgets etc in the past BF's but the thing that makes this BF more casual is the gunplay, no skilled vehicle play and so on.

      Battlefield 1 casual but previous Battlefield are just as casual. Battlefield game theory has no place in competitive and that is completely fine.

    Battlefield is all about the team play AND (in my opinion) about big scaled battles... That's why I like battlefield, you are 32-64 on a huge map, battling, fighting on A maybe but then going on B fighting different squads of people with different gameplays... As long as E-sport is stuck on a 5v5 lvl Battlefield is not the game to play in competition... Maybe one day we will have e-sports team with 32v32 people with a guy giving orders to the squads leaders, giving then to the squad members... like a commander would do on a real battlefield... but until then I don't see Battlefield as a competitiv game on a 5v5 scale. that's just nonsense and deny of the "true" orientation of the game... this might not be the common opinion but that's my point of view! Thanks westie for the news tho! I just joined twitter back in order to follow your news ! (sadly I wasn't there when you gave 100 beta keys for ghost recon :( ...) thanks again!

      the most amount of team play BF has amounts to 'hey bro throw me a box' and 'hey dudes let's attack the point in groups of 5'
      everything else is just people enjoying the chaos that BF actually is about.

    • @ribartex_richardbrt
      @ribartex_richardbrt 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah sure, but the common game modes and even the new ones are designed for a large scale battle... I don't imagine a competition on rush neither...

    competitive doesn't work for battlefield because the game needs many players to shine. at least 16 vs 16. more is better. so to me it's just not the right game for esports

    the game is to casual , I played it at my cousins house and was awful at first then 3 games later I got the hang of it and it seemed easy then. bf1 is amazing but this one of the huge problems of the game

  • @gwgamerscommunity4065
    @gwgamerscommunity4065 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    We have been fighting clan battles on bf4 for years. We rented servers on Bf4 to battle other clans, organised by the hc community. but not on Bf1 yet though , the Bf1 server control is laughable. Also there's no clan support.
    We were hoping Bf1 would be a step forward for competitive fps but with the emphasis on pick up and play , the competitive community is getting mighty impatient.
    Killing hc Rush by dropping the numbers of players and no friendly tags was a mistake. hc rush and 5v5 domination were the clan driven competitions on Bf4.
    Fingers crossed for the big update.
    GW on PS4.

  • @S8Fii
    @S8Fii 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    It's disappointing to see the community is so divided when it comes to esports. We all agree on that Battlefield is build mainly for casuals, but that does not mean it can't be competitive. Fact is Battlefield has always had a competitive community since the very beginning of the franchise.
    The comp. community never asked EA or DICE to change the game to make it more esports-friendly and I think this is what scares the casual community a lot. All that has been asked for, is just to build a game with more options and more choices when it comes to game-play and server settings. This way we will have a dynamic game that suits everyone's needs, hardcore, casuals, movie-makers and not least competitive players who would like to play and compete against others with similar skill and participate in offline events.
    When words like Battlefield and esport are mentioned in the same line might sound as a joke to some people and I really can't blame anyone for that. But believe me competition has always existed and it was freaking fun and awesome.
    Have you guys ever heard of dignitas? one of the biggest esport orgas in the world and have one of the best teams in csgo, Overwatch and other games. Do you know how dignitas started? It started as a competitive battlefield team years ago and now NBA team Sixers has invested into the orga and it's just so sad to see all this go away to other games and battlefield be forgotten.
    Esports is the future and no one can deny it, it's best to build bridges instead of walls ;)

    I'm really glad you made this video! As a competitive Battlefield player I think that a stand-alone Battlefield game is very neccessary to get the scene rolling for real. At the moment we have to deal with so much hate from the rest of the community so I think a stand-alone game can solve that. However the upcoming competitive events for BF1 I'm still very intrested in. Thanks for sharing!

    I think what they need to do is have a smaller rush-style game mode the focuses on how many bombs you can blow up before being eliminated as you progress through levels, and then you sort of "switch sides" and they come at you and try and blow up your bombs.

      Big armor, just keep your distance away from other players, pick off people in buildings or with cover. It is weak compared to the other elite classes (except for tank hunter, I do think that one is too weak) but its still better than being an infantry class. I have a lot of fun with it

  • @DanielBParada

    No what they should do is skip that standard competitive game play have them play 20 v 20 or 30 v 30 and don't worry about keeping them on a stage or keep one squad v the other teams squad in other places I honestly think that would work and I would defiantly watch that

  • @TheAustin007powers
    @TheAustin007powers 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    It's not just that, it's the fact that 32 vs 32 is simply too large to easily organize and communicate, coupled with the slow pace nature of the game being less interesting to watch then something faster which is why games like Overwatch/Counter-Strike/Rainbow Six Siege/Call of Duty/Halo have professional leagues and competitions and Battlefield doesn't and likely never will or at least not on any large scale, it actually has very little to do with it being a casual series

      to make battlefield competitive you have to take the 'battlefield' out of battlefield, and that wouldn't make for the classic, large scale, exciting warfare that it is. Personally, i find playing battlefield 1 or any other battlefield 1000x more interesting than watching it.

  • @ekolimitsLIVE
    @ekolimitsLIVE 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I honestly think they should make a separate battlefield game for export is the solution. But having respawn is very weird for competitive, imagine trying to kill an enemy and all of a sudden there are three new enemies just spawning in. I don't think that makes for good competitive.

  • @MuscledRMH
    @MuscledRMH 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    COD was not an esport and was forced into one. This hurt the fun factor of the game quite a lot and reduced the longevity and replayability of the game. Battlefield is NOT an esport and should not become one. period.

    • @MuscledRMH
      @MuscledRMH 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garrett Howard A big prize pool does not mean COD is meant to be an esport. COD having non-esports focused mapdesigns would make the public game much better already.

    • @MuscledRMH
      @MuscledRMH 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I clearly said the game is not meant to be an esport. COD was at a much better place when they made a game for the fun public matches and not for competitive matches.

    64 player conquest, one life per player. Enter as ranked squads. 10 minute pre-battle briefing with squad leaders only. Once a team is wiped out or the score limit(reduced) is reached, that's game. Squad roles on roids. This would create an intense, patient, and adrenaline fueled experience with plenty of esports opportunity.

    I think Competitive Battlefield could be a thing with smaller teams, however the teams would attack a single objective and the team to hold it for a certain amount of time wins the match. I don't think competitive Battlefield works on full-size maps.

  • @AbstractsParody
    @AbstractsParody 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wouldn't actually mind seeing competitive conquest. I know you'd need huge teams, but hypothetically I'd love to see a 32v32 competitive conquest match. Think 8 squads of 4, one spotter who isn't playing to direct the squads to attack or hold objectives. That would be a very Battlefield competitive game in my view.

For those playing every night, releasing DLC content/map packs a little quicker would really help. Not sure why they need to spread it out over a year.

    I still do not get - why "competitive" must be 5 vs 5/only infantry. I think 10 vs 10 or 15 vs 15 would be best solution for battlefield top league matches. There can be some resources oriented limitations like limited amounts of tanks respawn or smth like that to add more tactic to vehicle using, maybe a bit different spawn mechanic to add value to each player life. Why competitive is always CSGO like game?

    The most casual BF game made until today. I'd love watching a eSport bf stream, but I see it very far away. BFH and BF4 were actually good, but I don't understand why they didn't implement it. BF1 is just too easy for new players, not skillfull as previous games. Still love it.

  • @dopaminart
    @dopaminart 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Its either a 12vs12 or 16vs16 comp play WITH vehicular gameplay or else I could just play COD or CS or something else. Simple as that. BF3 had the most potential about this and the Scene became larger until the point where players thought the game itself was dying.

  • @sjolson68
    @sjolson68 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agreed Westie. The current implementation of BF1 can't be shoehorned down into something that makes sense for competitive play. Their best option would be to generate an offshoot as a F2P game for those with a BF1 license with specifically designed maps scaled down to something that works for small, squad-sized teams.
    Also, it's comical to read people who can't feel how the franchise continues to get more and more casual with every iteration. Obviously, the volume revenue is with the casual player base and this doesn't bode well for any even quasi-serious FPS player going forward.

    What about 32 vs. 32 competitive battlefield? Remove a lot of the random stuff, and make it very skill and team based, and instead of 5 v. 5, you need a full army with leaders, subordinates, and stuff. Instead of a tight team, it would be organized more like an actual army, and each squad would be like the 5 man team from other games.

Its alot more interesting than control points like onslaught/operations because the attackers or defenders don't have to be on the objective to capture/defend it. the levels just need to be condensed to more linear like bad company 2 rush. they should reduce it to9-12 people per side. squads of 3 or 4

    See Westie knows, finally a bigger youtuber pointing it out. They've made this game too casual and their making it easier for the new players. Thats why people liked battlefield because you had to be skillful and you had to work to get better, now its just too easy. Their just disappointing their original players that enjoyed the game for what it was.

    The reason why i play battlefield is because of the massive scale and physics. To try to change battlefield just for the sole purpose of entering the esports scene I think would ruin what makes it so different and unique. Longtime fans, myself included, hate when dice and ea try to alter the way it works to try to cater to different audiences other than its base. Remember hardline? People already complain enough about how codlike (for lack of a better term) the franchise is becoming. The reason why call of duty has been slumping hard in sales since BO2 is because they were disenfranchising their base, hence the widely negative reaction to IW. It would be a real shame to see that happen to battlefield.

    I personally think that if battlefield 1 will be e-sports there will be more strategy and teamplay since it's shooting is more casual

    I think a 12 v 12 with vehicles would be interesting and no deathmatch use rush and for vehicles one tank one plane one boat maybe but behemoths if one side is getting wrecked but your ganterneed to get one every map its just a way to make a lopsided game more interesting

      Autoloading 8 is very easy to use. People don't use it because the 5 rounds restrict it to defensive play most of the time. You have to position yourself so that you will only engage 1 or maybe 2 people at a time. Great gun for small game modes but not reliable on operations and conquest unless you are running with a good squad. If you are used to playing as an aggressive recon, the Autoloading 8 should not be difficult to master.

    Too casual??? Mmmmmm...I think you youtubers seem to forget that the average bf1 player plays maybe 2 hours a day after work. We dont play 8 hours a day or more so we can put a 10min headshot montage together. I think that you guys screw the normal bf1 player over by being too good and getting everything nerfed...Make a video about that.

    competitive should have no matter on war based games, under that intention EA added all the weapons to all the factions, totally absurd but as is ww1 not many people seems to care, but imagine if they had choose ww2, and the japanese faction soldiers rushing with bar rifles and thompsons, american soldiers with stg44 and mp40

    Two teams of 32 players, and with only one life per soldier. It could play out like Operations or Rush, but ONLY one sector. It will play out like R6 Siege --a best-out-of-three or -five gamemode. The fact each player only has one life will make for cautious --and tactical --gameplay

    simply reducing player movement speed will solve everything, among with grenade spams and behemoth nerfs(the driving seats). I hope to see that on upcoming patches. BF1 is a great game, but i have no reason to play than vehicles as there is game like Day of Infamy

    Hardcore battlefield can be competitive depending on the players in game from what I've experienced. There are more independent competitors in battlefield than there are "teams" or clans like in other games that are solid in the esports community already, but yeah the whole game is casual and because of the team sizes it's even more casual. I think two teams of 20, on hardcore maybe even with one to 5 lives a player could definitely be a competitive match up, and if there was a battlefield game recreated specifically to adapt towards what's popular in esports it would be even better but I definitely think the core gamemode or at least the mechanics of it shouldn't be apart of the competitive side. Personally, just like cod, core games are just not intuitive but that's my opinion because I've always shined in hardcore fps. Pro players may disagree and that's fine, but regardless I definitely think Battlefield could do good on a competitive level. Just needs more attention and more custom servers dedicated to experimenting with how it could work

    Westie. I love your videos but please use a different compression for uploading to TH-cam. This 1080p 60fps footage looks closer to like 480p while moving around alot of foliage.
    The compression doesn't do your quality videos justice. Shame on TH-cam.

    i think westie , battlefield 1 need to make 64 player celebrate the big matches format , have 32 player teams on a Lan system would be cool , but yes we wont see that happen , just enjoy the game for what it is, a casual shooter that looks stunning and fun for 2 hours at a time.

    A separate Battlefield game for E-Sports that is not played by the general public will not succeed. World of Tanks already uses an E-Sports setup that is completely different from what the general players are familiar with and no one watches it.
    If EA/Dice release a BF for E-Sports to the general public will anyone play it? I doubt it and if it's a completely different game from what the public plays, the public is not likely to watch competitors play.

    I guess I don't understand what makes a game casual. To me a casual game is something that can just be picked up occasionally and still be very competitive with more serious players. BF1 seems no more casual than BF4 to me, it's just different. Vehicles still require a good bit of skill to be successful on (especially air to air combat). I think BF1 just uses different skills.
