Some of the most popular toys of early Transformers history, left largely dormant until 2014. Hasbro now ignores the existence of this Dinobot.

Yeah, he sold out really quick. I do recall the prior four sat on the shelves a bit, but people screamed for reissues after they'd had their chance. Maybe when Swoop hits mass distribution, he'll be easy enough to get if you don't risk playing the waiting game for a deal.
Wait, I thought SS86 Swoop was supposed release in August or September. He was just recently revealed.

Well brick and mortar don't order just for preorders and in manufacturing you produce order + percentage based on assumed demand, so Hasbro would be making more for restocks.
I think it would have been funny if the reason Scorn is usually off the dinobot team was because he's the only one with a normal speech and being actually smart (not necessarily a genius, but someone who knows that brute force isn't always the answer ). And for those who watch his videos... yes, that's because of emgo316's skits.
Gonna have to check out his Scorn videos. I like Emgo enough, but don't watch him all the time.

I have never come across that before, not that I'm a comics guy. Its an interesting take.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder in IDW 1, Trypticon is an ancient dragon Titan who mostly sleeps deep underground in a flow of lava-like Energon. His presence alters it, so that exposure mutates normal Transformers. Still happens, too. 'Redemption'.
It's also the nicest version of him overall.

JUSTICE FOR PADDLES
Y'know what I'd like for Scorn? For him to be the leader of his own, five member dinobot team in lew, or rather semi-opposition, to Grimlock's team. They could even use it for lore, too.
Picture it: 10 Dinobots. Because they're both maverick teams, they can both be utilized in different scenarios.
We have Grimlock's team of himself, Swoop, Slag/Slug, Snarl, and Sludge.
As for Team B? Lead by Scorn, we can have all four of the missing members (himself, Slash, Skarr, and Paddles) and a fifth member that could be an entirely new dino. I'm thinking either a Pachycephalosaurus or Parasaurolophus
Sounds great to me, especially the new dino choices! :D
I can see Optimus looking at Scorn and realizing he needs to keep him separate from Grimlock because A) if their personalities clash it will lead to constant fighting and collateral damage, and B) if they get *along*, that's two belligerent, forceful personalities egging each other on and backing each other up that Optimus has to keep under control, and that's not worth all the Energon on Iacon to deal with.
I love that a character who comes from an anthology book were 90% of stories can not happen in continuity became such a fan favorite glup shitto of the franchise.
I'd assume more people know Paddles' alt mode than the his's personality, the stories or the book.
Technically, I think Paddles is an Elasmosaur (very similar to a Plesiosaur or The Loch Ness Monster), but it's still a shame we haven't gotten an official figure for him yet - not even an official *_model sheet_* - and I hope that gets amended one day
Ah, I guess like a lot of people didn't know enough about Plesiosaurs to know they are an order not a species. Guess that'll help with the Magmatron I just got if I make a video lol. Thanks for that! I'd like to see Paddles get a toy, but as I alluded to, I think Sludge might be the issue there. I really think that's a lame excuse, but they are very similar body shapes. I would hazard a guess he'd be renamed too to have a more Dinobot name starting with an S.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder too be fair him being so close to sludge might be a good thing Hasbro loves re-using molds and pieces.
I feel they could easily rework the sludge mold into a paddles hell people have already made an upgrade kit that has done that. It's not the best but it works and now that Hasbro has experience with magmatron and how the neck should be they could do it if they wanted.
@afanofstuff9123 I would think the main thing holding back Paddles would be the arms. The fins don't have the size and density to become arms like Sludge's front legs do. I'm sure they'd figure something out though.

Well fun fact after all the G1 dinobots are done in studio series Hasbro has confirmed that they are doing the live-action movie dinobots so we will be getting a new scorn he's going to be in the right design and the right color scheme
Didn't buy Grimlock either time, kind of bored of the movie toys, but I will pick up Scorn. It can display like they're growing up :D Deluxe > Voyager > Leader.
I hadn't heard that, I heard that they "might" do additional "G1" style Dinobots but they didn't confirm it.

With Slash, Scorn, Skar, and Paddles, they have enough for an entire B team of dinobots. They could do a combiner that can swap out limbs with the other dinobots.
That came up in other comments. Could have even gone towards a full years worth of product for just Dinobots.
Wouldn't mind a team of sea Dinobots. You could use a Mosasaur for a Grimlock/leader character. Paddles in place of sludge. An Icthyosaur for Swoop. Dunkleosteus for Slag. And finally an Archelon as Snarl.
Would be a great addition. The comment section has had so many great ideas for expanding the Dinobots into an entire toyline.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I think it's an underutilized type of transformer. I also think the key is maintaining a G1 dinobot asthetic and color scheme. Slash probably would have done better being introduced in a different storyline. Not one where the originals combine with her as a component. It would have allowed for them to better develope an introductory storyline for the new member. But with all the different prehistoric animals to choose from it would be nice to get some more official dinobot characters. You could even do a prehistoric Predaking with Paleolithic/Iceage mammals. Smilodon for Razorclaw, Wooly Rhino for Headstrong, Steppe Bision for Tantrum, Miomacariodus for Rampage, and Argentavis as Divebomb.
The only problem is that according to Hasbro staff, sea vehicles are a hard sell, like trains, and Sea animals are adjacent to that. I wonder how Mattel goes with Jurassic World, they put out a fair few ocean reptiles.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder yeah, I can see the hard sell aspect of certain toy types but 9 times out of 10 those transformers do poorly because Hasbro got lasy and gave us a GI Joe with panels attached to it. They usually only look good in alt mode. But when they actually take their time and make sure it transforms like a transformer should you get bots like Astrotrain and Seaspray. Those sell fairly well.
I like your idea. It's very good idea. I wish at least a third party would pick up on this. My only problem is, it's crazy as the Dinobots are, see going Dinobots would probably attack the Decepticon based on a daily basis. We barely would have made it through season 1 of the cartoon or the comics.. imagine, the daily assault on the Decepticon base. LOL. I love it
God I just want the G1 style Dinobots for the extended team so badly.
I'd love a studio series comic universe versions of them all in scale with the 86 bots you got.
Paddles, Scarr, Scorn, IDW Strafe add her, Slash and grimstone would be so fucking cool.

Obviously studio series movie version are coming so them first but I would love a G1 style too.
I think the Dinobots expanding to offer Dinosaurs that have become popular over the last 40 years is nothing but a positive. Why not share a body shape between a Pachycephalosaurus and a Parasaurolophus / Stygimoloch?
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder It's such a missed opportunity even the decepticon pretender team that form Dinoking there is back story that one of the members used to be a Dinobot before defecting.
Imagine the story plots they could make and the the fact they deserve to be more than just legends scale lol.
@@afanofstuff9123 oh I agree. I think Legends is a weird scale in general. Sometimes it's for small characters, other times it's for market tests, then it's for pocket toys. So inconsistent.
They should make a toy line dedicated to only dinobots both new and old
Redo the Beast Machines concept. Dinobots vs Vehicons. Vehicons steal the catchphrase of the Extreme Dinosaurs, "Lets Fossilize 'Em". Takes a much darker turn when you're going to use them as a fuel source...
At best like, 8 toys and a good bunch of redecos.
If we stretch, expand and make new ones, we could milk it some more.

Not having her as one of the adoptee protoforms looking like that because she imprinted on thr Dinobots and Trypticon was a missed opportunity

You kinda missed one, Grimstone the Styracosaurus from the Combiner Core Series. He was in the Japanese manga with Slash

@@SGD_ToysDownUnder yeah real good story Grimstone took on Predaking saving Slash but got smashed. He then gave his Combiner Core to Grimlock so Volcanicus can be born.
Technically, the character in the manga isn't Grimstone--it's Kakuryu of the Dinoforce, who turned good and joined the Autobots. Basically, when Power Core Combiners was released in Japan as United EX, all the characters got renamed into "something-master", and the bio writer took advantage of that to declare that they were all preexisting obscure characters. So Grimstone was released as "Grimmaster", but his bio made it really obvious he was Kakuryu.

@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Yeah, United EX had a pretty interesting story dedicated to it. Gave a lot of fresh takes on old characters, advanced a bunch of old plots, hell, it's one of the only times I can think of where Onslaught got to be important.
There is word that NewAge is making their legends class Dinobots into a combiner. I do like the idea of Slash the V-Raptor, but she'd probably be too small to serve as the torso unless there was a parts forming kit. Actually that sounds pretty good

I remember that a Transformers fan actually created designs for a whole lot of Dinobots based on various dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. He even created Pretender versions of several Dinobots(all original designs).
That sounds really cool. Need to bring back Catilla.
Great to see these additional dinobots. I had seen a 'Slash' profiled among the ranks of the Dinobots on the old 'Iacon City' custom master website. On that website alongside Slash, there was 'Scamper', plus their combined presence, who was at that time christened 'Monstrous' instead of Volcanicus.
Sounds like someone writing the bios and story forgot Scamper was part of Metroplex.
Slash can combine as the tail of Volcanicus.
I've seen people kind of attach her to the chest ala Blackjack, but never on his butt as a tail...
People have wanted Dinobots to be combiners ever since Hound made that hologram that was supposedly the Dinobots combined.
I could imagine that back then with kids, especially after the Constructicons were introduced. Vulcanicus isn't exactly popular though.
That would help to reduce the huge combiner's disparity between Autobots and Decepticons.
Hasbro at this point is so hooked on reliving G1 over and over, despite occasional attempts to add new characters, very few of them really stick. Drift and Windblade seem to have lasted, though you'll notice they haven't been present in the Generations line of recent years. Legacy Windblade is tagged as being the version of her from Cyberverse. Age of Extinction came after the quality of the movies slipped so far that only the diehard fans cared anymore, and the other "new" dinobot characters are from comics and not high enough profile to make an impact. Yes, the Volcanicus pretool of Dinoking notwithstanding. If a new cartoon show happened to reintroduce Slash or Skar or Scorn or even Paddles, they might have more staying power, but let's face it, the modern TF cartoons have trouble getting beyond Grimlock. Animated had 3, Cyberverse got to 5 but only at the very end. Even the G1 cartoon practically ignored the other four, especially in the third season. At best, we can maybe hope for something along these lines in Legacy now that they are running out of G1 characters to update, but they've also shifted heavily into updates of post-G1 things. Instead of new dinobots, we got new Junkions and new rock lords.
We got those new Junkions, including a Voyager. Maybe when they get as sick and tired of the weaponizer play pattern as I am they'll do something else? Actually I haven't noticed that about Drift, he's really due for a new toy isn't he?
I can take what you said and make another Dinobot combiner team. Scorn as the base, Slash, Skaar, Splash(paddles) and that dinobot that I found out about on a different comment, Grimstone
PotP really was a well of missed opportunities. Probably should have been a robotic beast line lol.
They ignored a lot of dinosaurs
They need a G1 style dinobot Scorn [aka Spinosaurus]. You know, the typical gold,grey, and red with a touch of black coloration and the blocky look. And don't forget the diecast.
I think that would be awesome.
I would also like to see an ankylosaurus, brachiosaurus, and a duck-bill dinosaur [aka hadrosaur].
Gallimimus would also be a good smaller dinobot about the same size as Slash.
Make the brachiosaurus super-sized. Make him twice as tall as Grimlock in dino mode.
Make the duck-bill slightly smaller than Grimlock in dino mode.
Make the ankylosaurus about the same size as Slug in Triceratops mode.
Make the Spinosaurus about the same size as Grimlock in dino mode..
The tech spech should show Scorn and the Brachiosaurus with a strength of 10.
We should just do Heroic Dinobots vs Evil Vehicons with the fate of planet earth resting in the balance.

As a big Dinobot fan, I love that we’ve got new members to the original five. But the thing is that since Grimlock is the most popular of them all we’re more likely to get a figure of him and be lucky to get the other four.
You'd think with Jurassic Park / World being back in the public eye, Hasbro would have made a ton of different dinosaurs and sooner.
And it’s not Slug, his name is Slag.
Unfortunately they changed it because slag is a derogatory name for a woman in Britain
Depending on if the theory of Spinosaurus being a semi-aquatic hunter is true, it may actually be possible to re-use aspects of Paddles' characterization for Scorn! & if we take Slash, Skarr, & maybe Grimstone from PCC, Scorn could even be the leader of a secondary Dinobot team!
The secondary team is a pretty interesting prospect actually.
My favorite dinobot was a vintage sludge/dragon ko called prehistory animal. Wish they made modern masterpieces of them.
I'm surprised a 3rd Party toy hasn't had that happen to it. It feels like free money and easy retool.
Weirdly enough, after seeing the Diaclone versions, I kind want those decos done. I realize they are extremely plain, but they work,
Well, Blue Swoop from the cartoon and Generations is Diaclone. Red Swoop is G1 Toy, so we're 1/5th of the way to a Diaclone set and 4/5ths of the way to a G1 toy set. But hey, Hasbro has two complete repaint options; G2 and DIaclone.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Since they have done Dialones I expect that is on the table. They also did the 2nd G2 Grimlock so maybe we'll get the other G2 ones as well. Not sure how I feel about the colors on the g2 swoop though
I'll be honest even when I was a kid, I thought that the Dinobots should have been combiners. I know it's a controversial opinion, but i feel they mirror Predaking pretty well. Predaking's strength is in the fact that all his pieces are far more unified in the spirit of hunting than other combiners. Whilst Volcanicus could be more powerful than Predaking, but only if the Dinobots are working together perfectly which they usually aren't.
Yeah, I'm surprised it took so long too and I get the view of them being the counterpart to the Predacons. We don't see the Predacons enough though.
@SGD_ToysDownUnder True dat on not seeing the Predacons enough. Aesthetics wise, it was my favorite combiner toy as a kid. I had Metroplex and Trypticon, Devastator, Omega Supreme, Sky-lynx, but I didn't like Superion as much as the Decepticon combiners. It would've been great to have another animal based team to put against Predaking.
Predaking actually started its design cycle as an Autobot set called the Anibots. It'd be nice if next time they made the Predacons they used the Anibots as a redeco.
Well, if you know what Cang Toys is planning, probably your would be satisfied. They are making a Dinobot Combiner with Scorn as "pants" and Scarr as one of the feet (legs are made by Snarl and Sludge, maybe another one for the other foot), so only Slash would be excluded from the team (which seems understandable, due to Velociraptor small size). If you take a look on their Predaking (Thunderking), you may be impressed about its quality.
Sounds great, but 3P is way outside of my price range. Maybe someone does a bootleg of the finished product it's more in my wheelhouse lol.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder I know what you mean😥, I try to save something to collect some of them (In my case, Trainbots). Other than price, their dimensions may be troublesome (a MP combiner can be 52/55cm), BUT it's worth it.
Girth can be a big issue too. If it's too far from the back of the shelf it just wastes space. The true crime of backpacks.
I know a version of Slash appears in Rescue Bots but I don’t think she got a toy.

Paddles was actually seen BEFORE the anthology series and was in the official G1 cartoon. Is SOS dinobots, wheeljack had created him to be an underwater surveillance drone, but it was shortly destroyed after it was launched to spy on deceptions. Then he's was shown again in the anthology, and a third time again in fall of cybertron (background shots and assumed dead before story actually kicks off) and even showed up, in mention only, in one of the various cartoons, but was never brought up again.
I feel the Core Class Dinobot Combiner could have had Dinobot Slash as a Weapon (Mini-con/Battle Master/Target Master) for the combined Form,
Would have been a neat idea.

I had forgotten about her since I bought her years ago. I'm gonna set Slash up with my Core Dinobots. She might not combine with them, but when they're separated she'd look cool standing with them. I have an extra Snarl she can hang out with while the others are combined too.
While it would be cool to see new G1 inspired toys for the more recent Dinobots, I highly doubt it would be part of SS86, as that particular line is based on the 1986 film. Maybe they could get Leader Class Legacy releases?
The next Generations cycle is Prime and we know it focuses on the 13 Primes. We actually have listings for the entire first year and the only beasts are G2 Grimlock and Onyx Prime. Maybe in the second and third years if we bug Hasbro?

You got some things wrong when talking about Age of Extinction. First of all the 5 original Dinobots were NOT all in the movie. They were all in the toyline but the movie only consisted of Grimlock, Scorn, Slug, and Strafe. So only 3 of the original 5 are in the movie and 2 of those are renamed. Slug was originally Slag. It's likely Sludge was also renamed because Sludge and Slug are so similar but Slog is also so similar I actually thought you got him confused for a minute and had to look it up.
Slash, Sludge, and Snarl were toy only characters who never appeared in the movie.
Yeah, this is me misremembering and not looking it up while I was on the wiki. I knew Slash didn't appear and they did stuff to Swoop turning him into Strafe, but I didn't realise Snarl and Slog weren't in the film either.
7:08 he went from a Brontosaurus to a Brachiosaurus
Where was he a Brachiosaurus? Sludge has so few toys none came out when Brontosaurus didn't exist and Slog is an Apatosaurus Brontosaurus hybrid.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder accidentally put "he also" instead of just "he" but in AOE Slog is a Brachiosaurus, not a hybrid. You can tell by the shape of the body and the "crest" on his head

There's an original Decepticon-controlled Spinosaurus Dinobot named Reptaurica in the Transformers tabletop roleplay game materials with no currently established bot mode design, so I think it'd be cool if there was a figure of her that also doubled as a pretool for a Generations Scorn.
I'd even accept a gender swap of Scorn in favor of the proportions of the robot mode resembling more recent Samus power armor designs, ie armor with large, rounded shoulder pads and a right arm cannon. The art for Reptaurica's Spinosaurus mode reminds me of the detailing on Samus's suits from Metroid Dread, especially the bizarre biomechanical inlaid detail between armor plates.
Actually, not against the idea of Scorn being a Samus reference. If you went more direct with the BW Megatron transformation, the head could really do nice work as the arm cannon.
I don't understand that image of the Beast Wars Grimlock, that is obviously the Predacon turned Maximal Dinobot who was one of my favorite characters in that show, but it was obvious that was not Grimlock
The BW line included a redeco of Dinobot as Grimlock. It is G1 Grimlock, the tech spec lines up exactly with G1.

I think a fascinating thing about the PoTP Dinobots is they can combine with CW Sky Lynx (if you leave out Grimlock). And the G1 Predacons/Predaking was presented as a rival to both the Dinobots AND Sky Lynx. So those two hero factions uniting to fight him is crazy....
Skyreign being the Dinobots as a nod to Call of the Primitives is a really cool choice. I skipped Skylynx back in PotP, maybe I have to get one now. That's a really neat idea.

That could be pretty interesting. With the way Hasbro's been G1-ifying a lot of the other animated shows like Prime and Animated in the current Legacy lines, doing the same to live action movie exclusive characters could give us some pretty cool character designs
They've done Barricade three times now, a redeco of Prowl in both Siege and Earthrise as well as a G1 version of TLK Barricade in Authentics. We really need the Authentics one in Generations, it has way more character than Datsun #5613. I'd love to see Blackout and Nitro Zeus come over too. Prime Bulkhead is kinda Movie Hound too? It sure looks like him more than Bulkhead, aside from the face.
Fans are conflicted about the Dino merge group? When the constructicons debuted, I was expecting ratchet and wheel jack to modify them to merge and be their counterpart
If you have access to a forum, ask people how they feel about Vulcanicus.
You know, if they want to add another dinobot, it could be interesting to have a second group of 5 for the dinobots...most seem like they could be parallels (in form) for some of the originals there. Scorn getting a revamp to a more modern Spinosaurus body design would mean that they have the 3 more quadrapedal ones (though paddles has flippers), and Slash would be more of a swoop parallel.
Of course, you also have Strafe and Grimmaster who became Dinobots in various forms as well

I adore both Scorn and Slash, so I guess I also adore this video! I'm really not a movie toy guy, but that one really stood out as a great design. Kinda wish I had picked up the Voyager. And Slash is just my little buddy! I picked her up during a trip to Chicago and will carry her around with me on trips. Just a fun design, fun to transform, A+ no notes.
Side note: I was actually back in Chicago (with Slash, of course) last month and wound up adding a new legends scale buddy, Bouldercrash! That's a great core class figure for anyone looking to pick up something that might still be on shelves

Scorn is a nice toy if you can find him at a decent price. He's got some interesting stuff going on that makes him different to the more direct Megatron transformation utilised by the deluxe. Deluxe is a great get too with the bright colours.
Vulcanicus has been around for decades. I remember it in old comics but scared to see that they finally built the toy.
It was a mistake that happened during the dinobots creation and lead to an uncontrollable Gestalt form that withe destroy everything friend and foe.
That's The Beast. Its a different combined form, I actually use a pic of it in the video.
There's a ton of potential with the new Skybound comicbook universe. The Dinobots haven't been introduced yet and Robert Kirkman and Larry Hama have their teams putting out some really great stories so far. As usual, the Autobots are on their heels against a far more powerful and organized Decepticon team. Once they get Teletraan 1 back online without its current "glitch", and we see what Shockwave is up to with his experiments, there's definitely room for new Dinobots to be added to the team.
I really need to read the new comics. I hear nothing but good things.

You miss a Dinobot. Technically you miss a lot of them, but the main one you miss is the IDW Dinobot Strafe. Strafe is another female Dinobot from the IDW comics. There is also an audio book call 'Jaws of Terror' which could add any number of other Dinobots that they can think of.
Could you really see them doing Strafe outside of Movie SS though? She overlaps with Swoop so much.

@@cuddyfox6973 As I've said in other comments, Sludge is likely why Paddles has never been canonized. I don't really see Dinobot Slapper ever coming back unless they do Bazooka and even then, it's a proper beast, not a mechanical Dinobot. Feels too different in end product.

Skaar will be getting a proper leader-class toy based on his Legends class figure’s “G1” likeness, at some point in the near future. One of the Hasbro designers playfully hinted at it in a livestream video.

Loved both scorn and slash but if any of them needs to be a permanent Dinobot member it’s slash she brings a lot of new to the team; female, a smaller raptor and I had the small combiner wars figure it was simple transformation that worked so well

Honestly I'm not a fan of Paddles strictly because his name doesn't fit the rest of the team's scheme.
Scorn, Slash, and Skarr are good additions though.

Scorn just has a badass design and seems cool, and Slash is unique. All the other Dinobots are _huge,_ whereas she's just a "little" raptor. I saw the wiki refer to her as the "little sister" character when she's introduced in the comics. I'd love to see her actually show up in more things.
Slash's only media appearance really shouldn't be Rescue Robots. But I guess this goes hand in hand with the shows lacking since Animated. :( Hopefully next show is good and uses the other Dinobots.
My perfect dinobot team would have all of these characters and more because my headcanon is, after the Autobot vs Decepticon war, the Dinobots become their own faction in the growing transformer universe and that faction eventually merges with Predaking's new faction to create the Beast Wars Predacons. Initially the predacons are the only team with dinosaurs but Dinobot feels the sparks of his ancestors and switches sides to serve the descendant of Optimus. I think it all makes enough sense to just be canon
That's pretty interesting as an idea since the Predacon dino theming in BW comes from nowhere. Actually, it's kind of funny in retrospect, BW plays into the idea that the Predacons were originally the Anibots before they decided they'd be Decepticons.
@@SGD_ToysDownUnder Admittedly I do not know as much about transformers as other fans. I base my timeline on G1, Beast Wars/Machines, and some stuff I know about IDW and fill the gaps in with what I would ideally want to be true. I also just change some things that bother me like swapping Galvatron's weird alt mode for a spaceship. I wish I had the confidence to write it all down for people to read.

@SGD_ToysDownUnder I had a conversation about Volcanicus recently! We (the person I was talking to) debated the dinobots combiner ability! Specifically, how long they had it, from the start, or not until much later! I argued that they were always a combiner, but the issue was that they ALL had to agree to combine! & they each were more interested in fighting solo, but with teamwork (coordination, & cooperation)! But, the thought of their minds combined with combining was just out of the question! & would never be brought up ever again amongst them! Until recent events, in recent timelines!
There are two more dinobots not mentioned here Skylynx and Trypticon.
Because neither are Dinobots. Trypticon isn't even an Autobot.

Oh the G2 line ended when the factory making the figures went bankrupt and they had all 5 molds along with mirage at the factory and due to laws at the time the molds where autioned off hence the kos of the dinobots on eBay and yes all 5 dinobots swoops mold was there too.
The KOs are recasts, not the originals. Aaron Archer has confirmed that the original molds for those toys degraded from repeated use and ended up like all steel molds do, anchors in Asia.

I wouldn't worry too much about that if you haven't gotten any of them yet as I'm fairly certain that they will all be reissued as repaints for Dinoking, a character from the Japanese G1 sequel series Victory. The US release of the team formed Monstructor and replaced the dinosaur pretender shells with more monster-themed designs.

Just wanted to say... the Beastwars Dinobot isnt actually Grimlock, and is ONLY referred to by Grimlocks name(Incorrectly) in The Toyline, and only its base form. (The reason being that the original plan for the associated Storyline was changed AFTER the toyline was set to be released) The Transmetals version simply says Dinobot, matching the Beast Wars Cartoon. The reason for this is they ARENT the same Characters. Optimus Primal And Beast Wars Megatron took their names from the Original Series Optimus Prime and Megatron. Then the got timewarped to prehistoric earth. They were significantly more advanced than the Autobots and Decepticons, who were also Sent back in time by a space-time warp, after a massive battle, in which all but Optimus and Megatron (essentially)Died, with the two being in a sort of stasis. By unifying their sparks with the remains of these great heroes, Primal and Megatron(2) gained new powers and Forms, leading to the Transmetals arc. During whuch Dinobot died(sorta) and was resurrected by Megatron as a Transmetals 2. This dinobot was completely subservient, but broke free of megatrons control at the last minute, saving Optimus Primal by sacrificing Himself. He was NOT Grimlock, just as Terrosaur was not Swoop/Scourge, and Megatron(2) was ALSO not Grimlock (despite being a Tyrannosaurus Rex)... Did they Reference Classic Transformers Characters? Yes. Yes they did. But they were completely seperate Characters.
Completely unrelated Characters that, despite my liking the film, were not done justice at all in Rise of the Beasts. I want a full Beast Wars Movie Series... not a half-assed Plot where they BARELY make an appearance.(i LOVED the Twist in the post credits scene, and hope the teased crossover film IS actually in the works.)
No? BW Grimlock isn't Dinobot, but a redeco of the Dinobot toy. The tech-spec for that toy is explicitly G1 Grimlock, unlike Prowl, Ironhide and Silverbolt / Magnaboss who were retconned to be the G1 characters.

Blue Grimlock is a redeco of the G1 toy from 1993 during G2. The BW Grimlock, the toy affectionally described as being a dalmatian redeco of BW Dinobot, was the sole Wave 3 Beast Wars Deluxe in 1997. It is in no way a mistake, way after the original intent of BW to be a continuation of G1 prior to the cartoon and is 100% G1 Grimlock. It's also a toy to suffer from GPS.

What did you mean Scorn didn’t appear in the film? Are you referring to POTP? Cuz I don’t recall the two releases for his toy were under that line. One definitely was a studio series from Age Of Extinction. I know cuz I own it.
I never said Scorn wasn't in the film, it's Slash who was cut. Scorn was never in Studio Series either, you're probably thinking of the Voyager from TLK Premium, where all the TLK Generations toys were released during the film's run.

I think the original toys even predate Devastator/Build Robo in Diaclone. But yeah, Vulcanicus would make a great counterpart to Predaking. Predaking should be used more in general though

That's interesting. It sounds more like a combiners name then a single dot's name. It's the tar bit at the end. But knowing the makers, they will call it some old transformers name to keep the copyrights. Is Hunter a transformers name? Wasn't it the Autobots bounty hunter or a minibot? Funny how they made Skylinx into a combiner. Considering he didn't really have a bot mode and the Seekers are more known.

I haven't read the comics, but has he ever been depicted as a new entity post conversion ala Cyclonus and Scourge? The cartoon is literally Bumblebee's new body and the tech spec really reads as Bee aged up. I'd argue Galvatron is closer to a new entity than Goldbug.

Originally, Goldbug was meant to be Bumblebee in a new, upgraded body similar to how Megatron became Galvatron. But in the IDW continuity, all the original G1 characters with upgraded, new bodies/names were instead relegated to all new original characters separate from their original incarnations.

There is the distinct possibility Paddles was a joke character all along and people just fell in love with the idea. You're right though, Splash is a vastly more appropriate name.

Given your unrevealed desire to see a Transformers and Power Rangers crossover, I get why you want a dragon dinobot. However, no evidence in reality or the original G1 Transformers cartoon suggest dragons existed on earth like how dinosaurce did for dinobot origin stories. Personally, I think a Transformers and Power Rangers crossover is a bad idea, but we could discuss my opinions on that later. As for dinobots, it would be more interesting to discuss why there is no dinobot with a plesiosaur alt-mode.
Nah, I don't want a crossover. Just if you had used Scorn in PotP as an alt core body like his dinosaur should be, it really brings up the Dragonzord comparisons due to how the DinoMegazord works. Or White Tigerzord if you like the Thunderzords more, same functionality. From there using that as inspiration for how you handle it seems natural and gives him an interesting story arc, even if it's lifted from PR.

I think you are confused as to what is being discussed about Triceratops and Brontosaurus. The ideas are that 1) Torosaurus is the adult and Triceratops is the juvenile. This would merge Torosaurus into Triceratops. There is no interpretation of this that means that "Triceratops didn't exist" and 2) that Brontosaurus is simply a second name given to what was first called Apatosaurus. Again, the animal would still have existed, the name would just be superceded as redundant. BUT more recent studies have gone against the merger of Bronto and Apato.

If you havent gotten that far, as its not been animated, it features a few new versipns of old characters, with refined concepts of the authors wquation of fortune and curses. Diego brando gains Scary Monsters, and turns into a blue dinosaur, and even other people, into dinosaurs. He is named Diego, but his nickname is Dio, and his Horse riding helmet hat D I O pinnes into it. So i put those on my Last Knight Slash, because hes a blue velociraptor like Dio.
