I'm about to try it out in a few days when I get my first board (Tracey) in the Netherlands. Looking forward to it so much, it looks absolutely fantastic! Perfect blend of fun/action/bit of luck and skill/strategy/finesse. When it's available I want to try out the BrownCastle card game to switch things up every now and then in between normal games.
My brother-in-law kicked my butt during open play at Origins 2024. Nevertheless I loved playing! I ordered a board from Brown Castle Games (sponsored & provided the boards during open play/tournament). I can’t wait to get it! Also, cool seeing you (and Meg!) demoing a game at the All Play booth! Keep up the great work!!
I haven't played on a premium board, but do have a Mayday board, and I've been very happy with it. Play with my family and I wouldn't have known that it's not great other than hearing about premium boards now. So with that in mind I have no doubt that premium boards are a level up, but as someone who doesn't know otherwise, the Mayday board is more than fine for casual play. You won't be thinking, "oh man this board is no good". So for anyone who has ordered one, don't feel bad! If you later decide to get a premium board, gift your mayday board to someone and grow the love of the game! Pitch car is pretty great. Back on Saints Row 2 we used to play mini pitch car on a conference table with two sets and lots of expansions. It was pretty crazy fun. The only downside is that the cars get shot off of the track pretty often. Be wary of any nearby floor vents as you'll have to go fishing for your cars (wooden disks)! Highly recommend the game for some good laughs.
I absolutely love this game. I agree with your review 100%, you really want a quality board IMO. In my experience of over 15 years most of the best boards are Canadian made. BTW your board is excellent.
I feel like that is part of the magic, it isn't TOO gamified. Like you are directly competing but when you make a good shot, a lot of time your opponent is also impressed/excited (when playing casually) because it does take a certain skill, and it is cool! I did recently go in on the Mayday kickstarter, I'm hoping that with the less expensive board we can actually play together and then maybe that will convince my family to want a nicer one.
👍 Agreed! With bowling and (midget)golf we see that effect as well (and with Klask) where people appreciate a good shot even if it disadvantageous for themselves.
So I normally hate dexterity games. Flick em up, that penguin flicking game, rhino hero, that shape stacking game, etc … people gush about those but I just don’t enjoy them very much. There’s something about Crockinole. That game is fun!!!! It’s so satisfying and I don’t know why. Maybe because the shapes feel so balanced and the board so smooth that it just feels good to flick and you feel more in control.
Hm, Mayday boards can’t be that bad, can they ? I ordered one just recently from latest KS. Wo’t play professionally, nor in tornaments, but with my family, on xmas and some friends coming over with so e drinks, surely it should be ok
"It's an incredibly satisfying gaming experience." Nope. Not for me. I find games like this intensely frustrating. There's nothing calming or satisfying about them - for me. More power to those who enjoy it, but you wouldn't get me within ten feet of that board.
6:43 That is like me with table tennis 🏓 I have never played in an official tournament - but I have played in some club tournaments. The best I finished was 4th place in my division/group - which means I had a chance to place 3rd, but ended up losing the match... Actually, technically, there was one "tournament" which I won - but it was one which I setup myself - when I was in college, so it didn't involve any club players - and then a lot of the people involved in that tournament went home - so we continued - automatically giving wins to the players who were still there - which is how we got to our final 4. We played it out - and I ended up winning it - so I say that that was the tournament which I "won"! 😉
I'd rather play pool. It's, IME, a more skill-based game with less of a luck factor, and the skill ceiling is very high indeed. Hard to fit in the car for game night, though.

Played this for the first time at LevelUp! Rather simple but a ton of fun!
The best and most fun dexterity game ever! My game group plays this every game night to start and end our play session. Always a hoot!
If you wax the board and use some shuffleboard powder your disks will glide a lot more smoothly.

@@annebethkuijs9442Just curious... Have you tried disc golf? That looks interesting, too!
Shout out to the GOATS at Tracy Boards. 🐐 🐐

Same here 👊😁 🤙
I got my board two years ago through Mayday games and have been really happy with it!
What is that last one you recommended? Was it "Karom"?
Yes :)
Where does darts and pool rank?
I don't lump them in as boats games
Game is AMAZING! Someday I will get a top quality board.
Receiving my board next week... :-D I hope I will like it, never played.. from flicking games I've played only Ice Cool... ;)
Enjoy!
Greatest dexterity game on Earth.
Go to a tournament, it will be fun, no pressure.
Hey look the board I bought!! Looks like you need to wax your board.
Lol very possibly, it's been awhile
Hands down the best game I played.
Love the shirt....DEMON LLAMA!!
Lol yep
Being from Canada I can tell you that the proper name of this game is 'Flick n Swear'. Anyone who says differently hasn't played
Lol I'll try that next time
💯 it truly is the best dexterity game!
Yes it is :)
I thought that Crokinole was a 10 for everyone as general consensus

Lol nice
What about Meg's claim that if darts isn't a board game, beither does this..? ;)
We're all allowed our opinions :)
@@BoardGameCo haha absolutely

What's "IME"?
