I'm in my late sixties now in age. I remember sixty years ago in 1964 going to my Aunt and Uncles wedding. My mother bought me brand new shoes to wear with my peg leg narrow trousers that were the style of the time. I wanted to remove them because they were of the winklepicker style. My toes were crushed up at the front , because they were very pointed toed. I have worn many different styles of footwear over the years. Platform shoes were popular in the early 1970s. Once again they weren't the most comfortable. Nowadays i wear what is comfortable because I do alot of walking. Interesting video , and i like your choices.
That's so cool! I love the different phases of trends you've seen and experienced. And I am totally aligned with wearing what is comfortable over anything
@itscharlesmackenzie Yes. Mens shoe fashion hasn't changed much since the 1990s. I've had some very nice pairs of shoes. I do own a different range of footwear now. And the shoes today are so much more comfortable than they were years ago.
Boots ftw! Just love the proportions of a boot with some cropped or cuffed pants. I like goretex Salomon as a waterproof option. Usually more of a sneaker than boot vibe, but also makes them great for hiking, rainy days etc any season.
For the first pair of shoes, the beat-up ones - I use the tracking sneakers. Like made by specialized brands specifically for sport of climbing mountainous terrain. They can look pretty minimalist and city-appropriate, but they can take MONSTROUS beating and still feel like a slippers and look brand new. Lowa, Merrel, Garmont are the brands to look for.
Hey Charles, thank you for your insights. Thank you for the disclaimers not encouraging consumerism. I am in the process of editing my wardrobe to keep what I am able to wear and not what is aspirational. I have been working on wearing clothes for my enjoyment (and because it is socially required 🤣) , and I have found your perspective on self expression refreshing. Keep at it 💪🏾
I feel the same way about tassel loafers :/ Idk if it was a trend thing, or if they're not as versatile as originally thought? I find myself wearing penny loafers more often. Daily Drivers: Solovair Dealer Boots (best footwear purchase I've ever made) Sneakers: Convers Chuck 70 or Adidas Temper Run 2 Loafers: Solovair Penny Loafers
Just looked them up! I'm not huge on Solovair style wise but I have to say those penny loafers are niceeee. I also have an extensive collection of chuck 70's Thanks for the comment!
I had picked up some healed boots from the brand walk London last year and I’ve been on a boot trying to wear boots whenever I can. You just can’t go wrong with the right boots.
Well the first (and currently only) pair of loafers I bought was GH Bass White and Black Two Tone... you're right I probably should have got a different colour to start, I've only really worn them for a wedding I went to.
Once again great video! And congratulation for 11K you deserve It so much, your content is different from other fashion but in a very good way,. Its so nice to see different fashion recommendations
Those cos boots have an unbalanced heel. Your foot is going to slide forward because of so much tilt and no arch supoort. Recipe for toe squish and bunions.
Brother you are not out of touch. I used to wear Red Wings as an ironworker and still love a great moc toe boot. A classic pair of jeans is timeless too. What you got going on is perfect. Don't get me wrong though, shoes for different occasions are necessary but only in my opinion. If you can get away with one pair for life then go for it. But I don't see red wings being appropriate for the beach or with shorts lmao! Thanks for the comment and happy new year!
@@itscharlesmackenzie Good point sir. I do have other shoes and apparel for those occasions. I guess I didn't think about that perspective, just my casual everyday attire. Happy New Year!
It seems like this vid is just about aesthetic and not really practicality lol A doc for a weatherproof boot? And then recommend the bottega boot? 🤦🏿 As a man i wouldnt complain about how heavy a boot is btw And yes I'm hating Cuz i genuinly thought this was fina be an informative vid
Is this a joke?…. This should be called the five worst shoes no man should wear those boots you put up at the end of ridiculous. We’re not all cat walk fashion models. Some of us have like actual practical lives, mate.

So true about the boots! I also love the Salomon too, I may grab a pair one day

What are your thoughts on Clarks Wallabees? My fav shoe !!
I bought some Lemaire piped loafers and they are insane. The quality on them is nuts and after two wears they broke in and are so comfortable.
Yeah those are actually on my list!
