- Black Headed bulbul bird nest feeding. In this video one can watch baby birds in nest.
no one will be present at the time or recording. camera's will be fixed. so we will get to know about the incident only when we visit to collect camera. at the time we visited the nest there was no baby bird both in nest and on ground, some predator would have eaten it.

I used to raise birds. The moms will reject any weak young. It's just their nature because they don't want to waste time and resources on something that will have trouble surviving. I usually would take the rejected young and raise them for a few days until they were stronger and put them back and the mother would accept them then. Don't know what criteria the mothers use because to me the rejected ones most of the time looked just fine but they see something they don't like.
It is the hubris of humans to think to interfere with nature - to think to accept what it rejects, to think to perpetuate that which is defective and weak.

no animal parent kills/throws away their offspring thinking it has too many mouths to feed...getting pregnant and giving birth is taxing as it is, if an offspring is weak nature takes its course, healthier consume more food and survive better but parents dont kill themselves that is absurd...this chick might have been laid by another bird mayb....

@@oftin_wong because their are many similarities between all different species of animal brain and while they may not all be the same they're certainly not hard to imagine, most other animals would have simpler thought processes than us as we are smarter thus their thoughts should in theory be easier to imagine
The parents may be very young and just don't have the experience yet. It happens. I watched a documentary on bald eagles. A pair mated. The female was young. This was her first clutch of eggs. The male, was experienced. This was his 4th year of rearing babies. When the first egg hatched, the female ignored it. The male watched her for a while and then flew away and came back with food for the baby. The next day the 2nd egg hatched and the female looked at it and then bam the instinct kicked in. Both of them fed the babies. Animals and people are the same. We don't know immediately what to do with our first baby.

There are cases in the news of women who get rid of their babies....for all sorts of reasons ...we only known those cases reported. There must be many other cases never discovered or never reported

Don’t have burbs with a psycho
This species is monogamous and can have multiple clutches in a year - unless this is their first clutch or so, they should be an experienced pair when it comes to rearing. The brand new nestlings FELL out, not intentionally removed from the nest and the roosting parent went to look for the hatchlings and called out.
So it seems like inexperience is the culprit here. It may be their first clutch. Sadly, new parents aren't always as successful as older more experienced pairs.
Rarely, in domesticated birds, some just are not good at rearing babies.

We had a small tree by our house and there was a nest. One day I noticed that one of the chick had fallen out of the nest and lying on the ground. I. Was afraid that another animal would come by and eat it. Me and my dad built a new nest out of small basket and hung it next to the original nest. We waited until we saw the mom come back and start taking care of the chick. We weren’t sure if the mom would accept her after we had touched the chick. But everything was ok.
Most birds have a terrible sense of smell. Only mammals will abandon their babies due to smell. As long as the parents don’t see you at their nest or touching their chicks, They aren’t likely notice.

The natural world is far more complicated than that.
It's unlikely she did that for no reason.
Most likely the chicks were sick or she knew they simply weren't capable of providing enough food for them.
As cruel as what she did was there's a reason there's a reason she's evolved to do it.
Chicks are a massive burden and taking care of them imparts a massive cost on the parents and makes them far likelier to be eaten.
Therefore if the chicks aren't likely to make it, most animals will abandon their young in order to ensure survival for long enough to have more.
This significantly increases the chances of a species survival (if it didn't they wouldn't do it).
As cruel as it seems to us you've got to remember that we are apex predators. We have no memory of what it's like to be prey, constantly on the lookout for danger. A world where the smallest mistake can and will lead to your death.
In such an environment you can't afford too much compassion as it will dramatically impact your chances of survival.
Remember our ancestors would've acted in the exact same way.
It was only when we could stop worrying so much about predators and started to give birth to less more resource expensive young (in which each child is far more valuable) that we became as compassionate as we are now (tho we still have a tendency to kill sick babies, just look at all the babies killed by doctors during the thalidomide crisis).
More like "Oh I see...you're struggling, honey. And I can't feed you anymore and it's best that I kick you out of my nest because you can't grow and live. Sorry my baby."
This momma bird had to do that to the runt. It's either live and grow strong or born weak and die soon.

If one chick develops an infection or illness, or is deformed in some way, a mother bird may either kill it and eat the remains for nourishment, or push it from the nest to keep the other babies from sickness. First-time bird parents will sometimes kill their babies because they simply don't know what to do.
The mother bird was an Independent Woman. Planned Parenthood was involved.

I agree. This looks like inexperience and it was certainly not intentional.... made obvious by the parents looking down, calling out and probably flew down to find the hatchling. You can definitely see the parent trying to count and account for the missing chick at 27 seconds or so.
No they didn't respond to her feeding whistles, so out they went. They were bad babies.

How is it tragic? Those chicks are going to become good for any number of animals or insects. And even if they're not found and turned into food, their bodies will decompose into the ground, making it more fertile. In nature, there are no tragedies because even the death of a couple of baby birds will help sustain the life of others.

We had a baby that fell out of his nest recently. The parents were really making a racket and freaking out, because he was mobile, but couldn’t fly. So he went running around my yard and I immediately panicked as well. I knew that was it for him, because I didn’t know where the nest was to possibly pick him up and put him back. Well…😔…he ran into the street and the dad was trying to get him back into the grass. My kids went out to usher him back into the yard, and they almost had him there. The little guy panicked and ran straight into the storm drain. Screamed all the way down, then nothing. I freaked and immediately ran out to try to see what I could do. I pulled the cover off, fished him out with a rake, but I was too late. I tried to warm him up and drain the water from his lungs. He was taking his last few breaths for several minutes. I tried really hard to resuscitate him for about ten minutes. We were all devastated. The parents cried and cried and called for him for days. We buried him in the back yard and named him Oscar. Took me a few weeks to not be totally traumatized.
When a baby bird fell out of a tree in my yard I tried to find the nest as well but couldn’t…. So I scooped him up, made him comfy and called wildlife rescue to come pick him. I don’t mean to be rude but everything you just wrote sounds stupid.

Maybe there was not enough food in the area or the chicks may have been sick.

The Great Blue Heron does something similar. We have a Rookery down st from my house, National geographic did a big television series here about them.. once a year when they have babies they have three and the mother picks the weakest one after a couple of weeks and pushes the weakest baby out of the nest. The nest is at the top of trees that are in water is only branches at the top of the tree no branches from the water level to the top of the tree the nests are like 4 ft round and it's not breaking to watch one of the babies get thrown out into the water & drown. But it helps the species go on.. they are magnificent birds there's about 120 nests and to see them offline around they have like a 5 1/2 ft wingspan it looks like these dinosaur are looking birds off just flying around in slow motion because it's so big it's incredible to experience it I am in New Hampshire USA The rookery is in Danville New Hampshire United States of America

Honestly, the last baby almost seemed to be doing what looked like a baby cuckoo instinct: wings out and backing up towards the edge.

I just raised a baby black bird who was kicked out or fell out of her nest I didnt no she was a she ir a blackbird and we bonded so much she imprinted on me and wouldnt fly away till she got scared and comes too wake me up too feed her and her blackbird friends in my kitchen window I have had suet and seeds built no blackbirds till the snow storm came and I got woke up bumy hearing her distinct chirping in my window and I said too my husband I hear Luna.i named her Luna before I even new she was a blackbird .I have tones of VIDS and pucs I even taught her how too eat off the ground.the fathers teach there blackbird babys too eat worms ,bugs off the ground and I had to teach her glad I did or shed of not made it .she came to my window about 2 months ago when the ground was frozen.she walked or hoped on my porch and jumped up on my wood and a plastic totes too tell me she needed helo.i recorded her footprints leading frim around my house to the porch up too my bedroom window.how cool is that? So I went and got mealworm and nut suet balls and they live it also mealworm suet cakes and bluebird suet I out it in my kitchen window and there she was and her friends and she comes too see me on my porch too.i love her.its harder then taking care of a infant newborn as in sleep because I had too feed her every 10 min the first 7 8 days and she grew and slept on my chest even and climbed in my shoulder.i looked like a Vicking woman walking around my house with my antiques and plants and Crystal's in my window ect.with her in my shoulder I new what she wanted and she listened too me and shed bitch at me me lik and I'd tell her..ohh stopping Lyna and rub her head and shed make these cute little chirps almost like she purred. Shes at my kitchen window as I'm typing this at 8am exactly. So I have too go put mealworm suet on the plate or if I give them the whole ball it will be gone and not all birds ger it because a big bird will come take all of it.i have even a suction feeder for hummingbirds that come too my window and they fly in my face I have a hummingbird tattoo on my neck in memory of my dad he always seen hummingbirds flying by my hair! I'm stunned that the mother did this! Normally birds are very protective of their young, is there any chance they are cuckoo chicks and the mother realises? So sad watching the dad with his beak full of food looking for his chicks....

No, this most likely happened cuz this is her first time. A first time mom has no experience on how to raise her chicks. The father most likely had the most experience cuz he's been through years of nesting seasons. Small birds don't mate for life so this'll happen. It happens a lot more than you know. Another reason why bird houses are good, they help keep the babies inside if it's the mothers first time. I don't know anything about this bird so I'm guessing that this is a species of bird that doesn't like to use bird houses.

I had a mourning dove make a poorly crafted nest in my front yard. When the babies finally hatched, they rolled out of the nest after two days because it was just a flat surface.
It probably wouldn't've been good for me to help, but I would've if I weren't asleep when they fell and inevitably perished without warmth.

The person making the video was more concerned with getting a good angle for their camera and that's why they moved the nest like this in the first place. Look at the string. Birds don't tie knots.
The bird would have deserted and left any chicks behind if that had happened.

I think the Bulbuls need a nesting box suitable for them. Are you allowed to put out safe nesting spots for birds in your country? They should be on a long pole that is difficult for a snake to climb and with a hole that predatory birds cannot fit their beak into. The nesting box and pole should be strong and robust, there seem to be quite a few instances of predation of baby birds on this channel. I don't watch them much, I prefer to see if I can identify some of the insects the parents bring their chicks.
They dont use nest boxes. They make open nests like this in bushes and shrubs. They are quite bad parents really... it's amazing any survive to grow up!!!

I don't think the female is purposely pushing the babies out. I think this is a first time female and is unsure how to settle on top of her chicks. When she tries she accidently pushes them out with her feet. The nest also looks a bit small so it might be a first for both the male and female.
Yeah, this does look like a first time pair and a not very well made nest. Either one generally doesn't end well on its own but both at the same time rarely succeeds in raising chicks..

It may have been a competing bird too. BTW birds cannot smell human scent on their babies. Sometimes it works to just put them back in the nest and walk away.

My sister had a pair of grass parrots in her aviary pair up, it was there 2nd lot of babies too. One got out of the aviary and the other followed, they went on and had their fun then 3 three days later they got back into the aviary to look for their babies. My sister had taken them both out and hand reared them. One had to be put down as the parents had some how broken it's leg. The other boy she hand reared, tried to introduce him to the parents and they tried to kill him. He is happy in aviary of his own with a galah.
When my baby girl budgies grew up one bit her mom’s toe off! I put mom in a separate cage pushed up against the big cage to medicate and heal, and the entire time one of her daughters sat as close as she could to her mother to keep her company. Birds are less human than dogs, cats, and many other mammals.
Maybe that kind of thing happens when you make a bird into a pet.

Why put the bird down cause of a broken leg?. It still has 2 wings and 1 leg. I see plenty of birds with 1 leg in the wild. Hell half the birds on the beach are accidentally drunk on spring break and break beaks , wings, legs and they survive for years. See them all the time while I'm fishing

Regardless of experience on not is abuse. Literally pushed her young to their death, even if they survive the fall, they can end up eating alive by ants, which i saw before. It’s not unusual for a bird mother to cannibalize her young when it’s week or kill it on purpose. Many human parents abused without noticed their children because “that’s the way they were raised”. That can include violence.

Is something wrong with the chicks? They should be Chirping with mouths wide open. Both are on their backs. The mother wont waste energy feeding them if they may die anyway.

This is why I get anxiety watching nature especially hatchlings they are so vulnerable. I’ve always tried to save wildlife even huge spiders in our home when I was little if anyone tried to kill it I’d scream the house down. It was less trouble just to ignore it😅

Not only was the camera watching, it had a perfect view. Mainly because the TH-camr had the nest tilted for the camera, causing the nest to be unstable.

What is not shown is the big fight the parents had prior to this event.. The fight was about silly stuff such as the male bird's mother in law and the fact that the male bird kept getting drunk, after the female bird nagged him. This is the bird version of "The Honeymooners."
From my experience I've seen this mostly in first time mother's in cats and birds

At our old house, there was a tree/tall bush at the front door outside and we started hearing loud chirping and every time we went through the door to go out, a bird always flew out....finally we noticed a nest then noticed egg shells. I dont recall seeing any babies on the ground but finally my dad removed the nest and did his best to try to keep the birds out of that tree/bush but they still kept making nests in it
Mother didn't push the chicks out intentionally; it was because of a poorly made and tilted nest.

Just an inexperienced mom. Young hens are not very careful, especially the first couple of days after babies hatch, which is the case. She did not throw the babies. She was trying to lay on them but accidentally pushed them out
