Mr wattles , i love your channel because of these things. Before the mc 1.20 update , i had a large knowledge of mc content. I left mc for about a year. Coming back , i understood nothing. Your channel is the first one I go to to learn these new things i missed
You have no idea how much combinations it will make if it's trimmable. Dye colors alone has 12.3M possible colors. So armor Trims will make it Billions if not Trillions possible combinations.
The first thing that comes to my mind with this is faction armor on RP-servers. Different factions or groups could use different trims to signify which one they belong to.
@@redstonefirewizard6560 Yeah, it would be really cool, especially since Echo shards have literally no use outside the recovery compass, and even that is meh, to be honest. Like going to the deep dark with the chance of spawning the warden for a compass that tells you where you died last is very underwhelming, and adding the ability to trim armor with Echo Shards would definitely make a trip to the deep dark worthwhile, imo.
With this update there are a total of ~90.03 Billion (90,035,798,189 to be exact) armor combos without leather armors or ~1.06 octillion (1,066,000,783,473,511,195,945,667,032) with leather armors

the new update being about self expression, culture and storytelling, and the new trimming armor in Minecraft gives me hopes that banner shields will be adding to Mcpe! ☺️🙏🏼
In the Minecraft live they talked so much about wanting players different cultures races and ethnicities to see themselves by recreating towns that are inspired by how they grew up

Iron with gold trim is my favorite. We definitely need to be able to trim the elytra. If you could dye it then add a trim that would be so sick for customization. They could make some really unique stuff for it too
Man this is a game changer. At first I wasn’t so exited for 1.20, don’t get me wrong everything from the camel to the sniffer is cool, but it doesn’t live up to the hype that past updates had. But now with the new armor trim, I can officially say that this update has gotten me hooked!
Ideas for more trims Bones trim. Looks like a skeleton: found in dungeons and uses mossy cobblestone Cobweb trim: looks like a web like pattern. Found in mineshafts uses tuff Snow trim: has snow flake patterns on chest, head, small ones for legs and boots, found in igloos, and uses blue ice

It's a great concept but I think it should also allow us to: 1. use echo shards as a trim option 2. trim elytras (or even give us a way to finally trim them to our armor) 3. obtain unique effects corresponding to the type of trim and material we used. For example the full eye trim set would allow us to teleport like endermen or something It would be pretty cool and add so much to the combat
Whoever's reading this, i pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! Amen
If they're adding trimmed armor something they could do to add more "rarity" to chests and make discovery a little more special is adding the possibility for a random piece of trimmed armor that may also have enchants. Imagine the possibility of discovering a super rare piece of diamond with gold trim on an end ship or the goofiest piece of iron with diamond trim and curse of binding.
I just calculated the total combinations that can be made in this update. Thera are total 11 trim designs each with 10 colourations. So, a total of 11×10 = 110 designs per equipment. Now, there are 4 equipments (helmet, chestplate, pants, boots). my favs are copper and emerald and I can't wait to put some trims on my shellmet. the new netherite mechanic I'm not sure about though, seeing as I'm terrified of the nether.
Armors can become a nice decoration in your base, though empty armor creeps me out, maybe I'll put it in the villager mall instead in the hall where they hang out after work. 😅
I think elytra would be the best way they could go with these armor trims, or maybe even a shield update. Especially since both of those features would directly fit into the theme for 1.20
Damn thinking this. This will be great on multiplayer games since there's that armor trimming, banners, horns, fireworks that use on crossbows, building blocks that has different looks, and capes.
One could also interpret the Ward design chest piece as either a Minecraft version of a water molecule, with 2 tiny hydrogen atoms, and 1 large oxygen atom, or as a scared/terrified face, with 2 beady eyes, and 1 large, wide open mouth. But as for which looks the best, the Rib design in blue, on gold armor kinda reminds me of King Tutankhamun.
The armor i desired by far (1.20) will be, the complete sets of netherite armors trimmed with the 'Ward Armor Trim' consisting of Gold + (BONUS: lots and lots of various OP Enchantments)
Well even though the gold trims won't deter piglins I think it still looks really awesome with the netherite :D super excited for the update! Thanks for the video!
I really want there to be a new set of armor that needs an upgrade. Maybe Steel armor? It would be between Iron and Diamond. It would have a special ability, where it can pick up items from further away, and not only that, but it makes you slower, but attack harder.
I got some ideas for how they can further expand this feature: 1. A villager/iron golem themed trim that you acquire from trading with armorers 2. Echo shards should 100% be a trim color with that super dark blue 3. The advent of netherite being part of the trim system opens the door for more upgrade type trims, maybe something further than Netherite?? Or more offshoots of diamond with their own benefits.
sorry but if you have a trim on iron armour, can you take it off to apply it to your new diamond armour? and if you have a trim on your diamond armour, when you upgrade it to netherite will it keep the trim? thanknyou
Amethyst on gold, netherite on iron, emerald on diamond, and/or gold on netherite are my fav color combos. The coastal trim is my fav and with any of those combos, they'd easily be my fav set. I really hope they make the trim dupe cheaper though. 7 diamonds is a little excessive, especially if you wanna use your trim on early-game iron armor.
I wonder if we'll have a percent chance to come across already trimmed armor in loot chests or on mob spawns? I might finally get around to setting up a zombie loot farm.
I like how it gives me a reason to mine diamonds again, because lately I've just been buying all diamond stuff from villagers since it's so much easier
Great info, thank you for giving us the inside info. I do a have a question though. If you are combing two different pieces of armor because they are worn out...which trim stays? I can see it be the one you put in the anvil, but that doesn't mean I am right. Also I would like to see the different trim patterns on the individual armor pieces... For instance, see all the helmet patterns without the chestplate, leggings, and boots. That way I can get ideas for different combos. Such as putting the eye chest piece and the vex leggings. Maybe like you have an eye on a stake, just as a quick example. By the way, I still consider the netherite update as better than this trim update.
This is so so so so cool! I’ve been playing this game for quite some time I’m 28 years old and this has been the most exciting feature added yet. Been playing this game for almost half my life that’s why I mentioned my age I just find that crazy. Love the video as always!
I think flowstone would be cool to make the trim glow Like combine it with trimmed armor to make the trim glow And I think glow inc sacs could maybe go on leather to make your character glow in the dark, but emit any light
On a different video I calculated the chances of finding at least one trim in all the structures with a determined number of chests and shipwrecks, assuming there are 3 chests so I'll just drop this here: Desert temple (4 chests, 11.1% each) = 37.5% Shipwreck (3 chests, 11.1% each) = 29.7% Pillager Outpost (1 chest, 20%) = 20% Jungle temple (2 chests, 20%) = 36% Monument (3 Elder Guardians, 20% each) = 48.8%
I think the different gems should give buffs like netherite giving knock back resistance, gold stopping piglins, redstone can act as a redstone source and stuff like that
I’m thinking about We can spawn all nine default skins in Minecraft and have them put on armor use tools and weapons and spawn knights to fight monsters and stuff I know it’s crazy but it’s possible
Fun fact: you can actually use commands to get "illegal" trims (like iron armor with iron trim). Sadly this still doesn't work for leather armor, but some of the ones you can get look really cool. Here's an example of a really nice one: /give @s iron_chestplate{Trim:{material:"iron",pattern:"dune"}}
i hope they add a feature so that a full set of one type of trim gives you special abilities. (eg: coast gives speed in water) i wont be spending precious resources on a decoration tool LOL
I’ve gotta say when I first heard there was armor trim, I was picturing it protruding from the regular armor pieces by at least 1 pixel to give it a little more of a 3D effect. 😬
they're going for the storytelling theme and frankly, I like it. Even the new netherite mechanic? Yeah I like it too. Finally, diamonds now has another use.
I like this update. It gives a whole new meaning to a lot of things in minecraft such as getting incredibly wealthy and not knowing what to do with your resources. Having a lot of diamonds or other minerals can now be used in duplicating trims or painting armors and other aesthetic actions! Furthermore the fact that the netherite upgrade trim is only found in Bastions transforms the bastions from meaningless loot temples to something that actually has reason to exist. Very good mojang!
I really hope someone makes a website where you can design your armor before you actually do it in game and when your done you can see what you need to get the stones for your trimming
I found this randomization armor trim it's the best combo in my opinion Armor trims: 1.helm:ward:ancient city chest 2.chestplate:silence: ancient city chest 3.leggings:eye:stronghold library chest 4.boots:rib:nether fortress chest

This is so so so so cool! I’ve been playing this game for quite some time I’m 28 years old and this has been the most exciting feature added yet.
Been playing this game for almost half my life that’s why I mentioned my age I just find that crazy.
Love the video as always!
Thank you for this. I admit I was lost at first. Got full netherite now with eye trim and gold. Looks sick
Wattles, I love your videos! I can't stop binge-watching them. P.S. Bedrock Edition has armor stands with arms.
I think flowstone would be cool to make the trim glow
Like combine it with trimmed armor to make the trim glow
And I think glow inc sacs could maybe go on leather to make your character glow in the dark, but emit any light
I’m a fan of the dune trim. If you put a gold dune trim on netherite armor, I think that would be perfect
what did wattles point out in the super zoom of the nether trim? @17:54
Wish the trims had effects
Like lapis giving you better enchant rolls, or redstone giving a charge
Gold having piglin immunity, etc etc
On a different video I calculated the chances of finding at least one trim in all the structures with a determined number of chests and shipwrecks, assuming there are 3 chests so I'll just drop this here:
Desert temple (4 chests, 11.1% each) = 37.5%
Shipwreck (3 chests, 11.1% each) = 29.7%
Pillager Outpost (1 chest, 20%) = 20%
Jungle temple (2 chests, 20%) = 36%
Monument (3 Elder Guardians, 20% each) = 48.8%
That’s so cool! I love the gold with amethyst trim. I hope new features will be added soon, Mojang rally let me down this Minecraft live
these are beautiful, definitely coming back
I think the different gems should give buffs like netherite giving knock back resistance, gold stopping piglins, redstone can act as a redstone source and stuff like that
Makes it really feel more like players making their own story
you got me with the Disney adult 💀 I can't unsee it now
I’m thinking about We can spawn all nine default skins in Minecraft and have them put on armor use tools and weapons and spawn knights to fight monsters and stuff I know it’s crazy but it’s possible
wasn't a fan at first but im starting to love it
Fun fact: you can actually use commands to get "illegal" trims (like iron armor with iron trim). Sadly this still doesn't work for leather armor, but some of the ones you can get look really cool. Here's an example of a really nice one:
/give @s iron_chestplate{Trim:{material:"iron",pattern:"dune"}}
i hope they add a feature so that a full set of one type of trim gives you special abilities. (eg: coast gives speed in water) i wont be spending precious resources on a decoration tool LOL
My favourite trim is tide.
Dune, eye, snout, spire, vex and ward are really cool too.
I’ve gotta say when I first heard there was armor trim, I was picturing it protruding from the regular armor pieces by at least 1 pixel to give it a little more of a 3D effect. 😬
The purple netherite trim, ooo baby I'm drooling, I'm on the hunt to make the perfect trimmed Armour
I really truly love Minecraft it was therapy for me like I use to stay up all night at the age of 5 on my iPad playing Minecraft
Vex helmet , and eye trim with diamond on netherite will be too good🤯
they're going for the storytelling theme and frankly, I like it. Even the new netherite mechanic? Yeah I like it too. Finally, diamonds now has another use.
U could trim the armour and then add glow Inc sac maybe via crafting table to make it glow
Hopefully there will be a achievement that goes with getting every trim
I really hope someone makes a website where you can design your armor before you actually do it in game and when your done you can see what you need to get the stones for your trimming
I love that they added the eyebrows to the vex helm.
Man... The Netherite armor with Netherite trim? It's an exploit AND the most expensive? It's the ultimate flex! Can't wait 😁 My fav combo for sure
Holy crap I can’t wait to get started
I think maybe adding trims could like increase durability or resistance a small bit, that would be more realistic.
I found this randomization armor trim it's the best combo in my opinion
Armor trims:
1.helm:ward:ancient city chest
2.chestplate:silence: ancient city chest
3.leggings:eye:stronghold library chest
4.boots:rib:nether fortress chest
