    Gotta be honest. The Shuttlepod Show came across my TH-cam feed one day. I was like, "Conner and Dominic? Really? Cool."
    So I watched. And watched another. Then another. Then another. Eventually watched all the episodes, catch the lives when I can, enjoy ALL of the guests. Also the hosts and producers.
    Would love nothing more than having a drink with y'all and testing my trivia knowledge against Mark.
    Love you all, keep doing what you do, thank you for everything, live long and prosper.

    I came to this show via Quantum Leap. I watched it in 2021 after not having seen it since it originally aired when I was a kid. After that, I started watching Enterprise in late 2021. I was never a trekkie. But I loved Enterprise straight away. I was in the middle of watching it when I heard about the Shuttlepod Show starting, from following Dom and Con on Twitter. They are both such great people, every episode is fun and interesting to watch, and I always learn something. The guests you have on are fascinating, their stories about acting are particularly eye-opening. I always get something out of watching every episode. I even remember Dom from Desmond's, although I didn't until he mentioned it - I used to love Desmond's as a kid, and I've been rewatching all of those too. I would love to come to an event, but LA is a little far as I'm in the north of England. Maybe one day, you never know. Any plans to come over here? :)

    Hey, I'm a bit late in watching this episode but I have been listening since y'all started. Just thought I'd comment since it's relevant - I grew up watching TNG, and Netflix turned me into an Enterprise fan, but I have never been to a convention or other Trek-centered social gathering. However, because of your show I will be booking a cabin for the cruise in 2024, and if it weren't for the short notice I'd have definitely made the trip from Texas for Shuttlepod Live.
    Y'all produce such an amazing show, top notch interviews really. I especially love hearing about more than Trek from all of your guests, and that itself embodies the spirit of Star Trek..it is more than just the stories and costumes, it's the good of humanity and the value of storytelling to society. 🖖

For the first time I've read 3 Enterprise books, a ton of wonderful fan fiction and this is my first podcast. It's so amazing how the actors from Star Trek seem so nice. I must say - one of the things I most admire about Connor is that - as he noted - he is NOT a self-promoter. I've noticed that when he asks questions of guests - he is still while they answer. He is more of a listener - who "understands the assignment." He seems to "get" Roddenberry's Humanist approach to Life - and story-telling (loved his story of ensuring everyone at school got paid the SAME). And that part of his own self can be seen in his work. Well . . . hmmm . . . except for Michael Kenmore.
    I have loved Star Trek in much the same way as I've loved all the beloved stories of my childhood. My 1st Nations grandmother taught me to read before I started school (we were living in a remote logging camp on Vancouver Island) - and so I had read stories from The Arabian Nights, Grimm's Fairytales, Alice In Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, The Wizard of Oz, etc. before I was 10 yrs old. And then I discovered my Dad's stash of Science Fiction subscriptions - Isaac Asimov's Amazing Science Fiction (or "Scientifiction" as it was called back then) !! Science Fantasy !! So when the original Star Trek aired in September of 1966 (I was 17 yrs old) - I had already seen (and loved) all the really bad Japanese Science Fiction movies . . . and I was predisposed and primed for it. And it didn't hurt that "the Shat" was a Canadian Shakespearean actor.
    Anyway - thank ALL of you - Connor, Dominic, Mark and Erica - and all your crew - for these endless hours of entertainment - and inclusion in the story. I think often of this Alan Rickman quote: "When I’m 80 years old and sitting in my rocking chair, I’ll be reading Harry Potter. And my family will say to me, ‘After all this time?’ And I will say, ‘Always.‘ Humans are innate story-tellers. Even when we go to sleep - our brain stays awake all night - telling stories to itself. But there are those who are just so GOOD at it . . . Thank you, Connor. Thank you Dom. And all who sail in that ship.

    Dominic, Connor, I just discovered your podcast this week. I watched several interviews, which were great, but I just watched your of “Shuttle Pod One.” I must say that during that podcast, the two of you fell right back into character; not just the voices, but the expressions, the emotions, the looks, the tensions, all of it. It was spectacular! You seem to think that your show, your work, was largely under appreciated. Perhaps that is true, but I want you to know that I for one loved Enterprise from the start. There was no breaking in period like there was with TNG, DS9, or Voyager. You and the rest of the cast nailed it from the start. You knew who your characters were, the relationships with the other crew, either previously established or brand new, felt genuine. The stories were compelling and you truly took the show where it never had been before, showing us the early days before the existence of Starfleet and the Federation, when humans were just beginning to find our way in the larger galactic community, and the rules and guidelines we now take for granted from Starfleet officers, had yet to be codified. You were the last but you portrayed the first and believably so. Dom, we are the same age you and I. I hadn’t realized that. I hope you are recovered from whatever happened at the end of last year. At our age, I appreciate how long recovery takes. I hate the thought that you, Conner, and the rest of the cast feel under appreciated for your work on the franchise. For whatever it’s worth, this lifelong, and yes, I mean since TOS, Star Trek fan, no more than fan, whatever that might be, loved your work and your contribution to the Star Trek universe and I will continue to watch you in action here in the space with great pleasure. 🖖 Michael

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing the show again for everybody. I am a Patreon member, nevertheless, it is always worth watching again or a third time, or more. Even if I'm not active on the chat, I'll look in sometimes. Well I missed a lot in over two thirds of my life and now I try to make the best of what is left. The odd thing is that if someone says to me I'll give you a chance to live your life again, I probably wouldn't change much. There is a story. A scorpion wants to cross a river. Since he cannot swim well, he asks a frog if he can get him across. The frog says, I'm not stupid, you sting me and I drown. Hey frog, then I drown too because I can't swim that well. Ok Scorpio, sounds logical. The frog with the scorpion on his back swims off. Halfway there, the scorpion stings the frog. Scorpion! Why did you do that, asks the horrified frog. Now we are going to drown. Because I am a scorpion!🖖🌻

    1980s vs 1990s for movies? Definitely the 80s.
    Airplane!, The Empire Strikes Back, Star Trek II, Aliens, Star Trek IV, The Naked Gun, I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, Tron (not a terrific film but groundbreaking nonetheless), Raiders of The Lost Ark, Clue, Ghostbusters

    What would be so awesome to me is if: you did a show where it's Garret Wong+ Robert O'niel paired in discussion with the two of you. It'd just be iconic, it'd probably go two hours but the trek trivia question contest would be especially cool; Trip+ Malcolm vs. Harry+ Tom! I can see the heated competition already lol. (@5:00 you did mention the Delta Flyers). Btw Erika's pleasant feminine presence for the show is awesome, her being the producer and just the Ed McMahon-ish role is smart and just makes us all drop our guard immediately. Spot on!

      Call the teaching show, Shuttlepod Academy. Each topic could be things like Shuttle pilots, each TV show could be called things like , Flight training TNG/DS9/etc... Or Trek training TNG/DS9/etc... , Boldly going with TNG/DS9/etc... or these are the voyages of TNG/DS9/etc... (could be bad naming ideas) But it might be a fun way for us to watch along with your team as each episode is in progress. We can watch, pause, listen, etc..

    16:29 The answer is simple: all the Trekkie-themed conventions are shrinking because we all _HATE THE CURRENT SECRET HIDEOUT SHOWS!_ And the irony of that is Secret Hideout hated us first, condemned us first, ridiculed us first, discarded us first, ignored us first, blocked us first, so- yeah!- there more than a bit of apathy and depression on the con circuit because there's nothing new to talk about when _we're_ being trashed on all the time! ...And it's not _just_ happening to _Star Trek_ either; it's pop culture-wide.

    It's been my experience when people pick "best" they tend to pick from what they grew up with (referencing the question of which decade had better movies, but it could have been any category). Notice how Connor and Dominick were all set to go for the '70s. The '80s, being their coming of age decade would be down played as it was not their preferred decade.
    I'd pick the the '80s as having more "hit" movies. For sci-fi, my personal favorite of the Star Wars, _The Empire Strikes Back_ opened in 1980. But, if you look at the '80s, it is just a powerhouse of hit/popular movies. Just looking at the summers in 1980s, 1980: Empire Strikes Back, 1981; Raiders of the Lost Ark; 1982: ET (and Star Trek II The Wrath of Kahn...for the Trekkers); 1983: The Return of the Jedi (and Wargames, Trading Places), 1984: Ghostbusters (Temple of Doom, The Natural, Gremlins, The Karate Kid); 1985: The Goonies, Cocoon, Back to the Future.
    I'm only halfway through the decade and just looking at the summer "hits" Non-summer movies like:The Terminator, This is Spinal Tap, FAME, Ordinary People, Terms of Endearment, Beverly Hills Cop, Amadeus...the list is endless which you look at the genres represented and how many hits. Then you get the bulk of John, Hughes in there from 16 Candles, The Breakfast Club, Weird Science, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Pretty in Pink, Some Kind of Wonderful...the '80s were just just packed, loaded with hit-after-hit-after-hit and again, you can pick drama, comedy, sci-fi, rom-com...it is just a monster of a decade. It's a dart board with, pretty much, no bad spaces. Yeah, you can find bad movies...you can in any decade but the number of winners is like nothing I've seen before or since and I've been in the industry for over 4-decades myself.
    None of this takes away from the other decades...movies are not a pie that eating one piece takes away from the pie. But, I've never seen a decade what was just end-to-end packed like it.
    I'm guessing that Connor would have hated _Top Gun_. Lots of musical interludes in that one! Most people found it to be quite fun, however.

    • @morrit33
      @morrit33 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think she is just a very private person. The Trek convention/podcast shows and circuits can be daunting, especially because a leading role isn't just for the time acting, but look at the original cast. It became their lives. Maybe she doesn't want that as much. Star Trek isn't so much work nowadays as it is a passion. And the fans can be a bit full on!

    Mark, I want you to open and read my emails. I think I might have the answer to your goal and effort and funds.
    Malcolm and his family and all his connections NEED to help you fund raise. As well as Armin, and Gates, and Nana, and Andy, and David, and Walter K and Walter Riley, and Vaughn, And Cirroc, and Rick, and Brennen, and Manny, and David and Ron B and Ron D,.... and even Ira... hmph, seeing as you actually want to have a Star Trek "School" like TNG cross trained actors into editors and directors and fans, as in actual production through every aspect of the entire team creation of story telling Entertainment, you SHOULD go non profit, 501c3 and legally solicit funds and not have to pay taxes.
    Star Trek fans exist everywhere through all walks of life in every industry. Every corporation needs tax write-offs.
    And we are ALL hungry for More Trek. And would gladly fund a movie, especially if we knew it would push the human equation and yet still teach how to beat odds and get closer to utopian. Millions of fans are able and willing to donate 1 to 10 dollars and more, perhaps weekly and monthly, to theactrical arts education, and that would make it possible.

      Jeez-oh! You people never let up do you? Just when I think I am having a tolerable day another grump pops up in the YT comments to ruin it. If you are not into NuTrek (I'm not) then move on to something that does excite you. Don't just keep going on and on about it. Nobody cares. Paramount certainly doesn't. They are happy with Kurtzman is doing. They are the ones signing the cheques. That is all that matters.

    • @DangerousDac
      @DangerousDac ปีที่แล้ว

      I mean, yes and no. The reason cons have quite recently died out is because Paramount/CBS on high have stopped putting out licences for them, so if any con happens now it has to be unofficial. I don't think the problem with the official cons of late have been guests per se, but theyve had sod all vendors and things to do to sustain a whole weekend. What Destination Star Trek became was an absolute joke. It started big then got smaller every year until its last incarnation was half the size of a car boot sale.
