degaussing is like factory reset of the electron gun in the crt

If you degauss a CRT you demagnetise it and that clears often Color problems. It’s not guaranteed though. Depends on the reason for the problem in the first place. Here I think it was the king storage and the first degauss at the switch on did not manage to clear everything
