Thank you all for the wonderful comments and support over the years! What started out as a small college passion project has reached so many more people than I ever thought it would. One day I would love to return to the format and knowing there's an audience keeps that motivation going for me!
@@allofmewhynot I actually ended up parlaying my experience as a theatrical set designer into a role as a Show Set Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering! In fact, all of the voices you hear in this production and indeed the other radio dramas on this channel were by the incredible talent of many of my peers in the theatre department when I was earning my degree. I can't believe it's been ten years since! But I always enjoy seeing all the comments these still receive to this day!
For one who read BioShock: Rapture, this is a good adaption, actually, better than professionals, you guys have a future ahead of you if you follow this path. The team behind this should be proud of this accomplishment. Great Work!

I actually found this years ago & still listen to it at work sometimes. Hopefully others are still finding this as it's just that good! In fact, the audio dramas are what got me into the game! Lol. It's become my absolute favorite game franchise ever since! Hopefully this will get more views after the release of the next game in the series!
Its sad really...Rapture could've been beautiful...but it succumbed to the darkest of humanities urges...A utopia crumbles at the bottom of the sea...for all eternity
It was worth mentioning that even if Rapture had worked as intended, it would have had some debatably serious flaws. Andrew Ryan's vision was largely for a purely capitalist society. Which has some interesting implications. Services like the police would have been based on a subscription fee, there was no public education, and so on. It was his own ideology that started the downfall of rapture. Because it necessitated castigating the poor and less successful, which made the rise of Frank even easier. Really, he created the conditions in the first place. Maybe it would have been a utopia, but only for the rich.
Thank you! I'm glad you think so! This production exists in podcast as well as video form, so share it around! There's also more content on my page if you like what you hear!
I literally just stumbled upon this..... This is a glorious underrated masterpiece!!!!!!!!!! 👍😵😃😀😄 You work is truly brilliant and amazing, the voices, the sound effects, the story everything is utterly flawless!!! You guys have a bright career ahead of you and hope you guys get more attention and recognition this is pure gold!👍 I would totally pay for this to be a movie!!
This only intensifies my desire to role-play Bioshock and just immerse myself in Rapture's world. I fantasize about acting and role-playing things like this with other people who are willing. Oh, how wonderful that would be. :)
I'm a massive Bioshock fan and this is so awesome. I've watched this twice and I can tell so much effort was put into this. Thanks for such a fantastic series.
Oh man, the first fifteen minutes in this radio drama and I love it!!! The description they gave as they looked at the details of the area is amazing, and the voices for the characters and the acting is pretty good! This is one of the many reasons why I'm glad I'm a bioshock fan, the ideas of bioshock and the ideas people get from bioshock are fantastic!!!
Kinda hard to screw up one of the very few true classic games if you stick firmly to its boundaries & not try to skew it to a different message, bioshock & dead space 1’s (& more or less 2’s, both 3’s hubastink) are arguably the greatest games ever made & will be known as the high water mark, it’s all going to pot now
This is really quite excellent. Having not read the novel adaptation, I didn't know much of the expanded lore of the games, but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Great job, guys.
I’m loving this. Andrew Ryan reminds me of a young Howard Stark from captain America and the Agent Carter show. I enjoy the enthusiastic voice for his character.
I found your work after replaying the Bioshock Collection again earlier this year and have been listening to this audiodrama as I fall to sleep for months now. I introduced it to my friend and she loves it! This is one of my favorite audiodramas, the atmosphere, audio quality, and overall presentation is what I hold everything else I listen to against. I crave more projects like this.
Caution - there's no such thing as a nice Splicer, around every corner, behind every door one of these crazed darlings is waiting - usually with a lead pipe in hand! This radio drama will give those who've never played the computer game a feel for what awaits them. It really is a spooky, atmospheric and well made production. Bioshock truly is 'the' video FPS that everybody should 'dive' into. Your choices 'become' you, with that in mind play with a mature head on your shoulders 'would you kindly'!
Listening to this on the way back to Vegas from LA, quite a treat. We've recently written a track inspired by the series. This was wonderful, thank you for the entertainment.
I feel most bad for Stevensen He didn't want to go He knew it was a bad idea Buuut his commander got arrogant "Next time you gamble, bet your own life" Mirage, The Incredibles
I've only just recently become a huge fan of this game series. And this is just what I need after finishing the book and beginning the game. Kind of an obsession, but I don't care. I love it.
This is an AMAZING audio production. I knew nothing about Bioshock before this and had no interest in learning about its world. The incredible voice work, perfect pacing, and ingenious found-footage framework of this two parter totally sucked me in. Fontaine is my favorite character, his voice actor hit it out of the PARK. Cunning and sly, slow paced and thoughtful, but still with total mobster energy. I LOVE Ryan too, he's commanding and compelling but he also doesn't have the deepest voice or most masculine tone; sounds like just little enough of a man that he'd have something to prove. Perfect for a guy who's obsessed with demonstrating the superiority of mankind through achievement and personal strength. In my head, he's literally Henry Ford with a mustache. Bill is also wonderful. His voice exudes humility and decency in every word he speaks. I listened to the whole 12 hour audiobook this is based upon, and while the original is great and adds a lot of extra context, I would NOT have gotten so into this story with the audiobook alone. You selected the very best parts and condensed it into a thrilling, captivating three hour epic. I feel like VERY little was lost from the book, and the story here is SUPER coherent and stands on its own, even apart from the games, which I still haven't played out watched on yt. I am enraptured by your Rapture. You could say I found myself thoroughly... Immersed.
I need a playlist with a thousand stories just like this. 8+ hrs at work blink by in a heartbeat listening to these. A week passed while I was listen to harry potter: MoR and I didn't even notice
Fun fact: Even if Rapture had not fallen, it still would've crumbled and fell apart eventually. Andrew Ryan had Rapture built from Aluminum, which does not handle the ocean's pressures as well as Steel. The whole structure was unsafe from the start. Without constant maintenance from Big Daddies, the entire city would be little more than dilapidated buldings and rubble by the 1980's. The water would've flooded into virtually every space, rendering the city completely uninhabitable. The submersibles would be inoperable with no power going to them. Not even the splicers would survive. That said, many artifacts from Rapture would've floated up to the surface. Still, it would make a cool game for Bioshock 4, which we will likely never get.
On the Splicer issues; I find myself wondering if any of them aside from Gil Alexander would have the forethought to begin altering their bodies for underwater life, leading to a massive uptick in sea-based attacks from “unknown creatures” within the ocean near Iceland. Odds are though that they’d become entirely dependent on the sea slugs to survive, consuming the flesh for food and the Adam to support their addiction. Once those were rendered extinct… _then_ the Rapture Nightmare would finally end.
Bioshock was the first game I played when I got my first PS3 about 10 years ago. I had no idea there was a radio drama. I'm so glad I found it. It's done really well!
This is absolutely fantastic. Great effects and mix and engaging acting as well. Though I thought Fontaine was a bit over the top (I almost expected him to break into a villanous laughter). I think that would be the only thing I can see as a minus in an otherwise perfect production.
I started the book, but I have terrible concentration issues and couldn’t continue it even though I love it. Thank you SO MUCH for doing a reading of it! I finally get to enjoy it!
This book and bio shock as a whole hold a special place in my heart. I understand the effort that was put into this adaption and would happy to support. If you need any voice over work give me a shout, would be great to contribute to work you guys do.
Ryan is the only voice that isn't right. Ryan has a slight russian accent. but none the less, this is amazing. i've listened to both parts a bunch of times. forever a Bioshock franchise lover!

From the few clips I saw from the game, it does indeed sound like Rapture went from an art deco Atlantis to an almost totally abandoned metropolis that gives off shades of Raccoon City.
Wow! I gotta say this is really amazing work man, being a hardcore BioShock fan myself this is just gold! Some of the voice work is so on point its eerie (particularly for Fontaine, Tenenbaum and Suchong). A lot of work has gone into this clearly really appreciate all the effort you've put into this.
Spencer Richardson Yeah I could tell, a lot of passion went into it. It is one of the great video game narratives of our time for sure and having read the John Shirley novel, I appreciated both the dialogue and some of the character back stories from the novel incorporated with the in-game content. I felt it really gelled nicely to make it this sprawling, cohesive narrative. Love the attention to detail with the accents/dialects though with Fontaine's thick Bronx accent, Bill's cockney likability and of course Suchong's trademark speech style. Looking forward to part 2 dude!

While the voices might not be perfect (Ryan, not the best, needs more bass and swaggering bravado) some are absolutely spectacular (Sullivan is a sound-alike and Bill McDonagh, one of the hardest accents to nail, is done with panache and echoes the voice John Shirley used in the audiobook for BioShock: Rapture) and the mixing of BioShock I, BioShock II, BioShock: Rapture and even little bits of data mined from missing/removed audio diaries, this is a fantastic amalgamation of the stories and feels like a "real" BioShock (Ken Levine) licensed version, minus the small flaws in voice acting. Another commendation goes to Suchong's voice, he really got a good feel for the character's voice in BS1 and BS2, and doesn't go to the silly range that the voice in BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea got to. Same for Tenenbaum, minus some small points here or there where I disagreed with the actress' interpretation of the lines. Did I mention how much I like this yet? +1 on Google+, thumbs up on TH-cam, and a litany of relistenings for me.
I don't want to start an argument, but in defense of Suchong's voice actor in Burial at Sea, it was recorded years after both games had been released. The actor had gotten older and was merely trying to recapture the performance he had already given in the previous game.
Massively, massively excellent work. The game always looked good to me, but never got a chance to play it - but this answers a lot of questions I had about the franchise, and I'm itching to play if I can.
Oh how I loved the first 2 games. The third one Was... Well let's not talk about the third one! Why am I just finding this now! This is really cool guys. I love how the dialogue is very in keeping with the time period. Hope you do more of these.
I never consume content that isnt canon. I dont like video games based off of movies, I don't like webcomics based on video games, and I never partake of fanfic of any kind. This, however, was EXTREMELY well done and entertaining. So well executed, and 2 minutes in I couldn't stop listening. Very good man, you should be proud of this, and if you do one for Colombia I cant wait to hear it!! Just had to say thanks and great work!
spear401 Over the top means that it's exaggerated to an extent that it's detrimental. I don't know if I would use that phrase, but it is kind of goofy sounding, and (to Nuka-Cola), it is not nearly as good as the original. All Bioshock games have fantastic voice work and dialogue. The people voicing in this video are... okay, but in general, it's pretty well made.
Extremely, extremely well written and superb use of the source material as a base. The cockney twang of Bill McDonaugh is a little 'Dick van Dyke' (should have hired a Brit mate!) but even that adds some charm. Highly recommended and bravo!!!
Acting for the two who discovered the Diving Bell and Andrew Ryan was a little off but by golly Frank, Tenenbaum and Yi Suchong actors are almost on-Mark. Fantastic Drama.
Preston Hardin, AKA DJ Atomic Wolf (creator of the Bioshock: Midnight series) actually listened to this very radio drama. Support him if you haven’t already. Seriously. His channel has been demonetized.
Thank you all for the wonderful comments and support over the years! What started out as a small college passion project has reached so many more people than I ever thought it would. One day I would love to return to the format and knowing there's an audience keeps that motivation going for me!

so very very true and upsetting
The Nuka-Cola Man utopia turns to dystopia, due to the darkness in the human heart.
The Nuka-Cola Man man is a greedy selfish creature when he wants to be

i start this with every new game. it links up nice and gives a "voice" to the game
Massively, massively excellent work. The game always looked good to me, but never got a chance to play it - but this answers a lot of questions I had about the franchise, and I'm itching to play if I can.
This is incredible, y'all keep it up!
I was looking for the BBC adaptation of Mort but... Colour me invested.
Oh how I loved the first 2 games. The third one Was... Well let's not talk about the third one!
Why am I just finding this now!
This is really cool guys. I love how the dialogue is very in keeping with the time period. Hope you do more of these.
Loved it, can't wait for part 2!
```````FANTASTIC``````` thank you so much
To be honest I will like to see this series become a live action TV series based on the Bioshock rapture book in the near future
I never consume content that isnt canon. I dont like video games based off of movies, I don't like webcomics based on video games, and I never partake of fanfic of any kind. This, however, was EXTREMELY well done and entertaining. So well executed, and 2 minutes in I couldn't stop listening. Very good man, you should be proud of this, and if you do one for Colombia I cant wait to hear it!!
Just had to say thanks and great work!
PogothePurple thank you so much! It was definitely a passion project and I wanted to make something that did justice to the source material.
The acting in this is over-the-top.
And, the original wasn't?
I didn't say anything about that. This is fan-made. And I'm saying it's good. Is that a problem?
Sorry, couldn't tell, I thought you were criticizing it because in your opinion, the voice acting was overblown. My bad :D
I always thought over-the-top meant good acting, to be honest.
spear401 Over the top means that it's exaggerated to an extent that it's detrimental. I don't know if I would use that phrase, but it is kind of goofy sounding, and (to Nuka-Cola), it is not nearly as good as the original. All Bioshock games have fantastic voice work and dialogue. The people voicing in this video are... okay, but in general, it's pretty well made.
Extremely, extremely well written and superb use of the source material as a base. The cockney twang of Bill McDonaugh is a little 'Dick van Dyke' (should have hired a Brit mate!) but even that adds some charm. Highly recommended and bravo!!!
This feeling, it is rare. I enjoy it. I love this
love it!! I liked it that much I've downloaded the audiobook 💗
Epic work makes me eager for Bioshock 4 to be released
this is incredible! greatest random find ever!
Acting for the two who discovered the Diving Bell and Andrew Ryan was a little off but by golly Frank, Tenenbaum and Yi Suchong actors are almost on-Mark. Fantastic Drama.
Preston Hardin, AKA DJ Atomic Wolf (creator of the Bioshock: Midnight series) actually listened to this very radio drama. Support him if you haven’t already. Seriously. His channel has been demonetized.
The music in the beginning alone gave me goose bumps. The rest just made me silence
This radio drama is amazing.
this is a new space and will comment at the end of tape if i have anything to illuminate
sincerely Q-wirsching
Love it thanks and will share, really good!
I meant a book that has a script with this type of drama , not really a investigation , my bad sorry
