In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, with our dog, to Glenrowan, Victoria, Australia. We stayed at Glenrowan Tourist Park. In the episode I give you a tour around the caravan park.
Below is a list of places we visited in Glenrowan.
    Kate’s cottage
    Ned Kelly’s last stand
    Vintage hall cafe
    Mt Morgan store
    Glenrowan Tourist Park
    Glenrowan heritage siege precinct
    Glenrowan Market
    Glenrowan Bakehouse & Cafe
    Glenrowan Hotel
    Pickled House Hampers
Glenrowan was named after farmers James and George Rowan who ran farms in the area between 1846 and 1858. The township was settled in the late 1860s, the Post Office opening on 22 February 1870.
The township of Glenrowan may be most famous as the site of the final siege and capture of Ned Kelly and his gang in 1880. Their story is preserved in the township’s attractions, museums, and historic walk, however there is much more to Glenrowan than Ned and his armour.
You can easily explore the town on foot. Pick up a copy of the Glenrowan Heritage Siege Precinct walking map from one of the local businesses or from the local information stand at the Glenrowan Vintage Hall & Cafe. This helpful flyer will guide you around key Ned Kelly Gang sites of significance such as the Ann Jones' Glenrowan Inn, Police Shelter Site, Gravel Contractors Encampment, Ned Kelly Capture Site, McDonnell's Railway Tavern and much more.
    Glenrowan Tourist Park
Set on 35 acres, nestled at the foothills of the Warby Ovens National Park you will find native flora, fauna and bird life in abundance around this caravan park Just minutes from the Hume Fwy, they are are close option to stay near town to explore Glenrowan and the regional townships of Wangaratta, Benalla, Milawa, Eldorado and more. Unwind and lounge poolside, perfect for relaxing with your favourite novel or cooling off after a day of cycling or hiking. They are pet friendly too. It’s BYO fire pit or borrow one of theirs. Firewood available for purchase $15 per 15kg bag.
Kates cottage gift & souvenir shop
Kate’s Cottage, Gifts & Souvenirs shop is aptly named after Ned Kelly’s sister Kate. The Shop and Kelly Display is situated opposite the “Big Ned Kelly” Statue on the corner of Gladstone and Kate Streets and features a huge range of interesting and exciting Ned Kelly and Australiana gifts and souvenirs.
Ned Kelly’s last stand Glenrowan tourist centre.
This unique attraction tells the story of Ned Kelly’s last stand, using animatronic figurines and special effects. The show runs every half hour and travels through several animated rooms. You also can browse the museum section afterwards. There is an entry fee to the show.
    Vintage Hall cafe
Pam and Simon took over the Glenrowan Hall in 2017 with a vision of establishing a café and antiques shop for the town and visitors. The Heritage listed hall showcases one of the biggest selections of Ned Kelly memorabilia, collectible glassware, porcelain, jewellery, and tools. There is also a variety of vintage clothing, old vinyls, books, and magazines for purchase. The cafe was added to the Hall during the 1960's.It is fully licensed and open 7 days a week from 8am till 4pm. The menu offers an excellent selection catering for most dietary requirements including coeliac, vegan, gluten-free and vegetarian.
We enjoy part-time van life, creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks on how to make life on the road easier and fun. Come join us on our adventures!

      @samsabastian5560 ปีที่แล้ว

Kelly Wright I hope that by now your son has learnt that Ned Kelly was a vicious stand-over-thug, a murderer, bank robber, hostage taker, and prolific thief. Not exactly a person to be obsessed by.

    Informative and entertaining video.
Glenrowan is a great little town and the tourism from the Kelly Gang Siege is highly beneficial for everyone.
Implacable critical activists will whine about Ned Kelly's iconic status and the "Such is life" statement being a 'fabricated lie', but what Ned Kelly actually said as his last words is uncertain, yet he unquestionably mumbled something that was interpreted by those in hearing range.
Some newspapers at the time reported the words as 'Such is life', while a reporter standing on the gaol floor wrote that Ned's last words were, "Ah well! It has come to this, at last."
In French, c'est la vie means “that's life,” when borrowed into English it is an idiom to express acceptance or resignation, much like 'Oh well' or 'such is life', so i don't see why Ned saying "Such is life" is a big deal, as it is close enough to what he was most likely expressing!

Thanks for reaching out and for the informative message! Yeah, it's interesting how the topic can put people in 'separate camps' of opinion - and ironically such is like ha ha! We enjoyed the two too. Adam

Well I never knew "such is life" was a phrase coined by a television producer and is in fact pure fiction ( I googled to confirm). I really feel sorry for all those Victorians who have seen fit to have that tattooed across their chests.

"Such is Life" was made up by Jim Middleton, who was a witness to Ned Kelly's hanging, in 1880 He did it to embellish his writings regarding the hanging.
