The Most Insane Ponzi Schemes In History

  • There's nothing like a good con story. Anyone who has moved to the big city can tell you how they were swindled out of a dollar on the subway, or how someone came knocking at their door with a suspicious-sounding sob story. And then there are the long cons, the con games that last for months - or even years. The amount of planning and risk involved in those types of schemes are extraordinary, and you have to be pretty charming and extremely smart to pull them off.

Victor Lustig (1890-1947), the conman was born in Hostinné, a town located in actual Czech Republic but at the time it was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire where many languages such as Czech, Slovak, Romanian... were spoken but the official and most common languages were German and Hungarian. "Lustig" in German means jolly, fun, enjoyable...(from lust). The word was introduced in France as "loustic" (similar pronunciation as Lustig) by the military through the jester that would support the Swiss army that would escort the French royalty before the French revolution in 1789. The word "loustic" later took a derogatory connotation but it seems even before the Eiffel tower scams that took place in 1925...

I did fall (just for example) on Däniken's BS, one religious sect (I won't tell which, pick whichever you hate the most) but it all blew off pretty soon. Well, I bought one (1) book from mr. Däniken, so I have that much on my sin list (if the sin list covers sins done before the age 18). But for the rest, I never gave a penny. I've made it my normal MO to fall into whatever foolishness for a day, then I'll come to my senses and forget about it all.

Some people simply can't admit they've been hoodwinked. The proof, as they (whoever the hell they is... I'm gonna catch up with that guy someday) say, is in the pudding. Folks, for that proof, I give you MAGA pudding. Um, um good.

I am the Pastor of a Spiritualist church. The Fox sisters were not scammers ! You are insulting a whole 200year old religious movement by calling the Fox sisters frauds! IS would just be like telling Mormons, Joseph smith was a conman! I liked your channel, but now that I know you spread false information I will be unsubscribing .
