    GCN visited Poland! So nice to see - especially since I live relatively nearby. A few notes for those who now want to explore the area:
    1) Puck is pronounced Pootzk, pierogi = pyeroghi (ye as in yeah)
    2) From second half of June till end of August is vacation season. Hel peninsula is absolutely packed then, as it is a very popular destination for kite surfing for example
    3) Do keep in mind that Hel tends to be windy
    4) The peninsula is not far from Kaszuby, a slighlty hilly region filled with lakes, forests and rarely traveled tarmac roads. Awesome place for bike riding.

    • @marcinzarod6612
      @marcinzarod6612 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ditto for that. Kaszuby are suprisingly hilly, with some mountain tracks and uphills up to 4-5% ascent. It is massively less pedaled than Hel and a lot cheaper than Germany

There is a bike path that runs from the German border, pretty much all the way to Hell along the coast! then you have the mountains down in the south..and the summers are seriously hot!! It really is a great place to ride, any type of bike! If anyone is interested in Ponad and riding, drop me a line and I would be happy to point you in the right direction!

    Oh no, don't tell everyone!
    A couple of friends and I and a dog made our first wycieczka rowerowa (bike tour), starting in Sopot/Gdańsk to Gdynia, train to Hel, and then the bike trip in earnest from Hel to Koszalin about four years ago. The Euro Bike Path went through (after kilometers of rough pavement through fields and forest) a bog... a horsefly- and mosquito-infested marsh. We had to "walk" our bikes, then carry them when the ground was about knee-deep under muddy water. Thanks, Euro Bike Path! But a fantastic wycieczka rowerowa.
    Second one -- the Velo Green (or Green Velo) Path in the east, beginning at Przymyśl and riding north. The latest one, a couple of months ago, was the northeastern area, going east from Olsztyn.
    Plus the many day trips, either locally or taking a train for an hour or two and riding back or riding around and taking the train back. One of the best and simplest pleasures of life. Add to that, sampling pierogi in the various different regions (but not just pierogi; other traditional Polish cuisine and non-traditional and not-Polish foods, too).
    Yeah, so I spent a night in Hel. I insisted. Otherwise, how could I incesantly mention spending a night in Hel to my Polish friends who just humor me, cos it isn't funny when translated. ("Funny.") BTW: The fish we ate in Hel was fresh and delicious. I chose halibut... for the haa...hell-of-it. Hah? Haaah?
    I know. That's never been funny. *Hangs head*

    That's the part of cycling that I love: go out there and see the world from the saddle.
    What a beautiful machine you were riding. Excellent video, as always!

    There is also a Hell, Michigan. And there is a ride every summer called the One. Helluva Ride 101. It was my first century. I've also biked through Hell, MI a few times when I lived in Ann Arbor.
