I think they should have separate buttons for the max if you want it. Also all the other vehicles as well. I feel that because certain things play differently it would be easier to play some of them with different buttons then the rest. Maybe it is just me idk.
This is the type of stuff I hope Wrel never listens to. The: "I want 3rd person advantage over others because I want to play in fish eye mode". "Oh, I saw you sneak up behind from 200m away because of my FOV on 3rd person"

Hey Joshino i understand that you will probably never get the chance to see this comment but i was thinking that planetside 2 could do with a sort of AI truck that would drive victory cores from the warpgate to the HIVES. I understand that thsi would include ALLOT of programing and all that stuff but it would allow underpoped factions to destroy the core carriers before they get to the HIVES if someone decided to build a HIVE deep in enemy territory. This would allso solve the problem of people placing 'cocky' HIVES too deep into ememy territory. Would love to know your opinion. Keep up the good work.
I'm not that big, I still read pretty much every comment, even the ones that get caught in spam. I think a lot of different forms of objectives but like you say, a lot of dev time attached to them :(
Joshino You know what this game really needs, mods! Make the game where you buy it once for like $30 and you get a way easier progression system and community mod support. There's games that do this already, Arma 3 already. Arma specializes in realism, Planetside specializes in really large scale battles.
Also, if they did this, they would actually get money from me! I never spend money in free to play games, i dont want to encourage the free to play business model. Theres got to be a sizable group of people who think like me, right?
+Grapenator X Well no. The game is free to play, and changing it to another system where you get huge clear-cut advantages over others would definitely drive away players, who play because its a good f2p game. It would cripple the playerbase number. I'm sure you have tons of money to throw out for advantages, but throw it elsewhere where it's intended, because here many don't. Marketing basics for you: Income is prize times amount sold. If you put up high prize, less people buy it, so it won't be a rocketing income as one may think. (Marshall cross is a good topic to google up) Plus, MMO games thrive on player numbers. If they drive away players, it becomes barren and boring for even those who play, who will leave, and no-one will play anymore, the game is dead. With your idea I guarantee they'd have to throw all players in Koltyr in 4 months to see a decent fight. F2P marketing system is not bad. It can be done bad if they give unfair advantages for money, killing playerbase. Ps2 is doing it well so far.
Terraria has had a rather small development team as well, and there has been a similar situation where a community member becaome a developer. In this case the community member in question was an excellent modder who was added to the team. He played a key role in helping out with some of the largerst modding projects.
Of all of the more popular, prolific Planetside 2 TH-camrs and streamers, I've always liked Wrel a lot. I think he's got a great head for design and development, how things work, how they don't and ways to fix them... his videos reflect that and always have. I know that he's got a fair amount of detractors among the general populace and even other popular content creators and mouthpieces for PS2, but I really don't understand it. Anyhow, really happy for Wrel, and also for Daybreak/Planetside 2. Nothing but a good thing as far as I'm concerned.
This si similar to the situation with division where they've gathered a few dozen or so community content creators for the game to fix the game as they themselves have said "yes this games broken we need you help"
Wrel seems to have been an overwhelmingly positive influence on PS2, but I do miss his videos that were critical of the team. It seems to have worked in this case.
As usual, good points Joshino. I prefer to pay by subscription. Which is actually quite funny because just a few years ago I would horrified that my son was subscribing to a MMORPG (WoW). And now I am as well. I really enjoy both yours and wrel's input on games and gaming.
I think Wrel had been the best thing to happen to PlanetSide's development in a long time. The amount of small but meaningful updates/changes has been amazing. It's just a shame that his TH-cam channel had to suffer for it.
Wrel is doing what most game developers miss, the small QOL things. Just yesterday he tweeted that medkits should finally be fixed, now that's progress. Game devs usually require good communication with the community to solve such problems, they are mostly focused on bigger updates, bigger content. Wrel, with his first hand experience of the game, far more than any dev, can pick out the small things in a game and make the entire experience more enjoyable.
i like wrel as a developer, player, and person. i think that he brings a sensible and fair approach to both game commentary and balance. i do worry that he may have lost some of the former commentary ability because of job security, legal nda's, and obligations to the company bottom line. not to memtion he jumped aboard a potentially sinking ship and he is screwed if dbg decides to end ps2 support or cut the dev staff from this game. would they put him on h1z1?
wrel is one special man.. jk, but he fits the role of a dev very well i think, he always gave solutions or opinions on the games problems and hes very sirious about, at least his voice makes it seem that way
Yes and no If you ask certain players, some will be Extreme to the point where it wouldn`t be fun, you also have players that would like to see something new and interesting and make it easier for new players.
Personally I've been playing on ps4. I've been buying the membership to support the dev team. Partially because it makes cert grinding and gives bc as well.
I used to have the Premium Membership while it had the 48 certs a day for logging in after 24hours, but then they got rid of it so i stopped buying membership. if they didn't get rid of that, i would get Premium again
The thing that really bothers me in regards to the updates since he became a dev was the coyote/hyena buff. The worst thing is that he discussed it when it was still on the test server and said it felt balanced. From what I understand, Wrel isn't a big dogfighter. He pulls an ESF to get somewhere, screws around for a bit, then bail assaults to the ground. Not really someone who should be trying to balance the games dogfighting mechanics
PlanetSide 2 needs a new feature push or an ad campaign to revitalise the game when the new player experience is implemented i feel the game is slowly starting to die off for people, I really enjoy the game when i get to play (Its because my WiFI has an awful ping so i play at other peoples houses when i get the chance) heck i even dropped cash on it to support the devs and the game itself.
Most commenters, most players, have no business being in control of the development of the games they play. Why? Because they are concerned only with THEIR enjoyment. I see plenty of people on the PS2 forums who would turn this game into a tankfest, or a sniper's paradise, or an air knight's dream, to the complete detriment of everything else- because they believe that only THEIR playstyle and skills deserve to be rewarded. Wrel is a far different case. He's shown from the get-go that he's concerned with the well-being of the game as a whole above all else, even in areas in which he doesn't excel or participate much in. He cares about the entire community, not just a single section of it, and he's shown passion about improving the entire game and seeing a wide variety of playstyles be rewarded. I'd say he's absolutely earned what he has right now, and his work is making Planetside 2 better.
Lol he most definitely had self interest. If he was a skilled pilot, he would have helped noobs another way instead of creating air zergs cuz of radar and increasing the successful ground farmers by10x. As an ok pilot, i would run stealth, but nar keeps me from landing and getting one shot.
The Rogue Wolf I'd have to dissagree with you on that one- myself being a commenter and observer (as my name suggests) yet not a player of the game, I want everything to be as balanced as possible, with every advantage having a counter, and every "boring" class made more exiting, but not just more powerful. And we do have purpose, because we are the ones who give them their payrolls, and/or tell them what we want to make us happy- to keep the money flowing.
"Wrel" said Joshino. It's....a welcome sight to see someone on the outside, getting in. Regrettably (as Wrel himself admitted) he's not really gonna be able to be as critical with DBG as he used to be, and now that he's moved in, well, he's all about dat DBG monay. Not that I'm faulting him for it. Like you said, they gotta make money somehow. In hindsight, I do sort of...'wish,' Wrel hadn't signed on with DBG. I actually have some friends that worked with SoE when PSide2 launched. Thusly, I'm a bit concerned Wrel is gonna get shot down. Then again, at least Wrel isn't posting flame-vids and pooping on every one and every thing. The most interesting facet of his whole 're-positioning,' is the query as to whether or not DBG will back Wrel up when he asks 'corporate' for a change. That, is going to be the largest obstacle with DBG and Wrel.
If they want people to spent money they should: -add playerstudio armors -Increase the membership benefits -decrease black/gold/platin weapons prices -add more items for example an item which changes the gender and ethnic/race of the character because name changing items already exists -Add more voicepacks for example asian voices or voice packs with spanish dialects common can't be hard for devs in Carlifornia.(indish, japanese and so on) -Fix the godamn Bounty System/Directive System
Agreed, though increasing the membership benefits is really hard because they need to make the membership worth spending money on without actually making it an unfair advantage over people who don't have it.
And they have to consider that lvl 100+ player usually don't really need certs so they should try to find something to attract them (without being P2W)
Josh, do you think Wrel is able to be a game dev? I'm not sure if he's into coding, etc, but I'm not sure what else what he could be doing, what do you think?
I'm still waiting for my email from daybreak. I got banned from the PS2 subreddit, I think that's a sign they want me to make a new Reddit account just for moderating and being a dev.
I dont think that every game development team needs a community member like wrel in ps2. Planet Side is a special case because of the updates and additions wich get introduced every now and then. Having a community member who has a good contact to the community really helps in terms of balancing and new ideas. I cant see that working with battlefield or any other tripple a title because the communitys are much much bigger and it would become a mess with everyone making additions. For planet side i think, its perfect because as you said they really need the community to spend money and that is easier with a happy community, wich wrel is trying to schiev.
The answer to making planetside 2 a great and popular game again is to completely redo the graphics and physics engine, change the meta of the game, and make more unique gun and character models with more customization.
the game can still remain ps2 but what it needs is not a whole revamp, it needs some tieing up of loose ends of code and programming in the game and some pieces like the optimization for example can use some efficiency changes, also some mechanics can be changed to make things more diverse and a better experience. the vs faction has better game play because it has a lot of interesting weapon mechanics that no other faction has and even when the other factions get a mechanic (rail jack and mini gun for example) it is usually very miniscule a lot of things need to change up a bit especially the auraxium weapons.
tomkagi It's frankly too late for Planetside 2, what the dev's need to do is have the same business model, but tack on a small price to buy the game initially, that's how they can fund the creation of what is essentially an entirely new game.
If they asked you to move to cali and join da dev team. Whould you buff the TR traps damage x3? #MakeTheTrapOP #planetside2 Also what would you think about putting Memes on the side of vehicles and Pasteing them on buildings like overwatch or gmod? I should ask wrel about thi tho Nevermind.
practically, i think taking on Wrel was more of a political move considering whatever he does could be handled with emails. personally, i think he makes good videos, but comes off as pretentious. Except the one where he blames the long term players for the problems in the game. Then i was convinced that he is a condescending prick. salty vet signing off
Community members becoming devs is really nothing new. Higby was playing SOE games before he joined their QA team. Luperza and Malhorn were also active members in the Planetside 1 community before they joined the team. Stuff like this happens all the time in many games.
Not gonna use a dime on PS2 until they add vehicle hacking, which apparently has been shelved (PS1 vet, master hacker) I stopped playing PS2 right after they added the old implant system and just joined again a month ago and the new implants are so much better, more like PS1 Strange that everything that was good in PS1, also is good in PS2..
Um ESF? That was long needed and he made it go from pros beijg way too good, to pros being amazing and a lone pilot useless cuz of endles zergs. He brought the skill level back to release date levels. Not even fun..
2pumpedupforu ESF has always been that way. it comes with the territory of fast TTKs on something you can only spawn once every 6 minutes, there is no way to reliably learn since you'll be dead in the first 2 minutes of flying.
Raptor Jesus You assume I haven't learned. I learned in the exact way you describe as being impossible. If I chose so I could run stealth and coyotes and kill everyone, but that isnt fun for someone who wants to have skill instead of using bullshit to win. When someone does 80% damage with a secondary and 10% with their primary when its meant for a2a, you know that Wrel fucked up.
Joshino got a new boyfriend, guys. LoL :D /jest Wrel is alright. Hes background isnt that important to me in this context. Its not like there isnt allot of crappy devs out there with "proper background". Wrel knows the game on a high enough level as a gamer and that is important for this game. That said, while he tries to cater to both. I actually find him to be a little elitist. The Heavy Assault nerf for example seemed to stem more from none HA Vets wanting to win 1on1 front fights with them rather than helping noobs.
No they can't, just by knowing the game inside out from the player's perspective. Everyone has ideas (even developers, woah!) but with only ideas you can't really make a difference. It's just a naive view of how software works in general. People who actually can code and run tests are far more important than just a guy who thinks his ideas are good (who would even pay money for a developer who can't even sort a list?). Those who think it's easy to manipulate the huge code base and do these "simple fixes", "balances" or "optimization" have actually no clue what's needed to accomplish these kind of tasks. In my opinion this is one of the many reasons why they have people dedicated to listening to the public crowd, who tries to filter all this nonsense and pick only the gems for later use.
He'll do small buffs and changes, nothing that will help fights or anything that will actually impact the game besides gun balance. And a lot of his balance changes are questionable at best, throw that in with all of his gimmicks that he wants to add that don't really solve any problems. Meh.
TheToric Prior experience is something you need for everything, it doesn't differentiate between the different departments. The reason technical is different is because as a community member you have access to what art dep. does (you can see all their art) and what design does (you can see all the numbers, mechanics etc.), but you have no access to what technical does (code).
Joshino, gunplay is NOT that "old". The gunplay in PS2 is better than say BF4 for example. You understand why you lost in PS2, most of the time, while in BF4. You mostly just die from some random frag or someone spawning behind you etc. This notion that other AAA are leading the way for first person shooters is overrated. You can citizen PS2 for allot of things, but the "dated gunplay" is a inaccurate meme if you ask me.
the first change that would make darkelfdruid if he join the development team:
-Decimator damage increased from 1335 to 1337
haha
Wrel was so useful to PS2 and it's community, I'm glad he's now in the Dev team!!

I'd like a fov slider for 3rd person vehicle view
And a reduction in the freaking 2x zoom cost cause as of right now it's 500 certs... That's insane

I've learned the airgame same way as you have, it was a pain in the ass.
I would honestly love for the devs to take a long look at the cpu bottlnecking. That would bring in a lot more players.

(Marshall cross is a good topic to google up)
Plus, MMO games thrive on player numbers.
This si similar to the situation with division where they've gathered a few dozen or so community content creators for the game to fix the game as they themselves have said "yes this games broken we need you help"
as for valk spawn option - it was 100 certs. problem was that it was occupying solt.
How to draw more new player into this game:
-marketing
-Let Pewdiepie play Planetside 2
-& more marketing.
totalbiscuit promoted the game long before when soe was still working on it
darkelfdruid dev NOW. Dank implants for everyone
3:32 Died using a mini gun. Solution = need more miniguns!
They really should add more people like Wrel to the dev team and really be on there heals weather they make a good dev or not.
Havent seen the vid yet - just wanted to say that i saw the name of this vid and i was like "ooooh shit"
i like wrel as a developer, player, and person. i think that he brings a sensible and fair approach to both game commentary and balance. i do worry that he may have lost some of the former commentary ability because of job security, legal nda's, and obligations to the company bottom line. not to memtion he jumped aboard a potentially sinking ship and he is screwed if dbg decides to end ps2 support or cut the dev staff from this game. would they put him on h1z1?
Long as he plays all aspects of the game and can make fair comparisons between the interactions then yes, I'd say yes.
wrel is one special man.. jk, but he fits the role of a dev very well i think, he always gave solutions or opinions on the games problems and hes very sirious about, at least his voice makes it seem that way
Yes and no
If you ask certain players, some will be Extreme to the point where it wouldn`t be fun, you also have players that would like to see something new and interesting and make it easier for new players.
Personally I've been playing on ps4. I've been buying the membership to support the dev team. Partially because it makes cert grinding and gives bc as well.
at first i thought it was wrel's own uploaded vid, but then you hear joshino. just didn't bother to look. lol for myself.
I used to have the Premium Membership while it had the 48 certs a day for logging in after 24hours, but then they got rid of it so i stopped buying membership. if they didn't get rid of that, i would get Premium again
Lol i thought it was Wrel's video :D
I just want to be able to change the key/mouse bindings for flight! Mouse roll is a pain, why won't they let us change it to mouse yaw?
For some reason I thought this was Wrel's video when I saw the title and Thumbnail
i was trying to get them to hire him on the roadmap
To answer the question, i would say yes depending on the person.
At :56 Joshino almost murdered a teammate
So,Joshino next addition to ps2 devs team confirm?
The thing that really bothers me in regards to the updates since he became a dev was the coyote/hyena buff. The worst thing is that he discussed it when it was still on the test server and said it felt balanced. From what I understand, Wrel isn't a big dogfighter. He pulls an ESF to get somewhere, screws around for a bit, then bail assaults to the ground. Not really someone who should be trying to balance the games dogfighting mechanics
IMO performance is the secondary problem in the game, the first one being general balancing.. classes, vehicles, weapons, etc...
As of right now, no dislikes!
Bullshit, Wrel hates vehicle play and is a solo VS guy who has slanted shit to support his own play style. Fuck Wrel
What's saltgate? lol Am I out of the loop or something? Also, congrats on 47,001 subscribers! 😂
If they want people to spent money they should:
-add playerstudio armors
-Increase the membership benefits
-decrease black/gold/platin weapons prices
-add more items for example an item which changes the gender and ethnic/race of the character because name changing items already exists
-Add more voicepacks for example asian voices or voice packs with spanish dialects common can't be hard for devs in Carlifornia.(indish, japanese and so on)
-Fix the godamn Bounty System/Directive System
Agreed, though increasing the membership benefits is really hard because they need to make the membership worth spending money on without actually making it an unfair advantage over people who don't have it.
And they have to consider that lvl 100+ player usually don't really need certs so they should try to find something to attract them (without being P2W)
welp, its rough
Josh, do you think Wrel is able to be a game dev? I'm not sure if he's into coding, etc, but I'm not sure what else what he could be doing, what do you think?
The only thing I hate is usually the tr out number all the factions on my server during the day. By like hundreds to thousands.
Anyone can be a good devs, it's really hard to STAY a good dev and not go down the bad route of cash grabbing.
I'm still waiting for my email from daybreak. I got banned from the PS2 subreddit, I think that's a sign they want me to make a new Reddit account just for moderating and being a dev.
Zoe burster-maxes?
Joshino x Wrel
wrel is com. dev of 2 games?
You're talking about Planetside 3
+Marcin Zyśko pre-order now and get the HD deluxe edition.
the game can still remain ps2 but what it needs is not a whole revamp, it needs some tieing up of loose ends of code and programming in the game and some pieces like the optimization for example can use some efficiency changes, also some mechanics can be changed to make things more diverse and a better experience. the vs faction has better game play because it has a lot of interesting weapon mechanics that no other faction has and even when the other factions get a mechanic (rail jack and mini gun for example) it is usually very miniscule a lot of things need to change up a bit especially the auraxium weapons.
tomkagi It's frankly too late for Planetside 2, what the dev's need to do is have the same business model, but tack on a small price to buy the game initially, that's how they can fund the creation of what is essentially an entirely new game.
Then i was convinced that he is a condescending prick.
salty vet signing off
what platform is he playing on?
nintendo 64
The real question is, when will Joshino join the dev team? :>
Wrel Specialman 2
Community members becoming devs is really nothing new. Higby was playing SOE games before he joined their QA team. Luperza and Malhorn were also active members in the Planetside 1 community before they joined the team. Stuff like this happens all the time in many games.
I love your videos ahhhhhh 😱😱😱
2018?
I use ZOE for AV/AA MAX.
you're nerfing yourself if you use it for AV, currently you'll need over twice as many comets to kill a vehicle if you activate ZoE XD
It doesn't work for bursters
Thatgood Nutt i believe it increases the direct hit damage, but lets be honest thats not what bursters are based around XD
Not gonna use a dime on PS2 until they add vehicle hacking, which apparently has been shelved (PS1 vet, master hacker)
I stopped playing PS2 right after they added the old implant system and just joined again a month ago and the new implants are so much better, more like PS1
Strange that everything that was good in PS1, also is good in PS2..
In Wrel We Trust!
the game has only gotten better since he joined, pistol scopes and long needed balance changes :)
WREL IS BAE
Raptor Jesus You assume I haven't learned. I learned in the exact way you describe as being impossible. If I chose so I could run stealth and coyotes and kill everyone, but that isnt fun for someone who wants to have skill instead of using bullshit to win. When someone does 80% damage with a secondary and 10% with their primary when its meant for a2a, you know that Wrel fucked up.
2pumpedupforu eh? wrel nerfed the coyotes and lock ons. O_o
yes
Joshino got a new boyfriend, guys. LoL :D /jest
Wrel is alright.
Meh.
Community members can be good in the art and design department, but not in the technical department.
Depend on thier prior experience.
TheToric Prior experience is something you need for everything, it doesn't differentiate between the different departments. The reason technical is different is because as a community member you have access to what art dep. does (you can see all their art) and what design does (you can see all the numbers, mechanics etc.), but you have no access to what technical does (code).
U troll, i was sure that vid is from Wrel!!
#WrelArmy
Qviro - TR miller.
If darkelfdruid was a dev all he'd probably say is "get good you noobish pleb!!..if you just used 1% of your brain You'd have a 6+ kdr!!" XD
just give me ten or so more rounds in my AF-18 stalker and I'll be happy
imo gamers make better game devs
after all when you need electric's done you dont call a carpenter do you ?
Seriously bro are you against free to play games??
Why is the ps4 so outdated?????????????????:\
Moore's Law maybe? Technology progresses exponentially. Also the cost:profit equilibrium for Sony to sell it is a factor.
91 views, mmmm, early
