    Sharp old 52! A lot of work went into it. Top speed might be 50 mph, but a wonderful cruiser/hauler. 🤩

      Most likely you would need to change the gears in the drive axle I wouldn't be surprised if it has 6.44 gears change the gears to say 3.42, and I'm sure it would run 75, or faster easy. Remember, those things had little power, and were expected to haul fairly heavy loads so low gears were necessary.

    A great truck to pull a 5th wheel travel trailer with for about half the price of a dually crew cab pickup

      @kellykremer3642 ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn't have enough h.p. to pull anything over a 25ft trailer

    Did the 52 come with a synchromesh transmission?

    • @bertgrau3934
      @bertgrau3934 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very doubtful it does look to have a 2 speed drive axle.

      That's why I asked he was saying everything original but it has a 4 speed with two speed axle and synchromesh so you don't have to double clutch. From my experience with trucks in that era the 5 speed with two speed axle was the most common on anything over a 1 ton. For tractors the 5 main, 4 speed auxiliary was all that I ever saw.
      So I am wondering if some modifications have been made. Have never driven a cab over. I drove a 1952 L180 when it was brand new.

      I understand what you're talking about, I never drove anything like that, but I have driven a lot of cab over trucks. I owned a 1950 Ford F2 ( a 3/4 Ton ) it had a 4 speed, non synchronized transmission. I think most every thing over one ton wouldn't have a synchronized transmission in those days.
      I don't mind the non synchronized I drove a lot of trucks from one ton to 80,000 pounds for 44 years. I retired last January and glad I did the last 2 years I drive were the worse

      I learned to drive on a 48 Mercury 1 ton. Brother drove truck all his life and although I didn't follow his footsteps did keep in touch by doing a bit of driving on holidays etc. Haven't done anything since 2015 when my brother past away. Recently got to spend a day with a young friend in a Volvo automatic. Can't believe how nice the new rigs are.

      Yes sir the new trucks are much better Ina lot of ways, especially more comfortable. I have driven a few trucks with the auto shifts, I prefer the manual transmission myself. That's just me , I know a lot of older drivers that really like the auto.
      The few things I really like, is the air ride, better heating and A/C systems. I drove an old 1966 R model Mack, it was a dependable truck but rode rough, no A/C and was cold in the winter, it would keep you from freezing, but not nearly as warm as a new truck will.
      Sorry about your brother sir

    $25,000 ?!!! 😱😱😱😱😱
    Um, I dont think so!
    Maybe if it had modern running gear with AC and a bed on the back. It’s not worth a dime over
    $10,000 the way it sets.
    Lotsa luck gettin $25,000.
    Don’t hold your breath.

      Modern running gear? Wtf? You do realize this is a CLASSIC truck, right? A rare one at that. It's not some street-rod POS. The International Harvester COEs are really difficult to find in any kind of decent shape nowadays, and that one is pretty cherry after all the work that has been done to it. And it doesn't have a bed because it's a dedicated hauler, like he said. Did you not see the large 5th wheel hitch plate? $25K is pretty cheap considering, and I'm sure the truck has long since sold. And $10K wouldn't have bought the truck BEFORE all the work had been done to it. So, yeah, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Smh.
