Cammer here. Just to give some updates. We tried tracking down the driving school so we could give them the footage but they don't have any social media at all so no way of getting in contact (there is another using the same name, it is not them). His wife did get in touch but again, no way of messaging her directly on TH-cam and my replies in the comments to her keep getting deleted. Either way, they reported the incident as did I but I haven't heard anything back. Assuming nothing came of it as it happened way back in summer last year.

Its one of my biggest pet peeves of TH-cam, not that it removes comments but that it practically never tells you when one of your comments were removed and what for. There's a large group of words that if put in a comment will just automatically hide it for other users @@fervent2896

Also, storming towards a vehicle you've just pulled up and stopped. What if the person panics, a floors it, collecting you on the bonnet, as we've seen in a different Ashley clip, worried their getting hijacked or going to be assaulted? Where does that leave the kid, with their dad splayed on the road? It's just playing Russian roulette on the roads, road raging like this.

I have been driving with a 17 year old family member to help get her driving hours up for the logbook. Out of the dozen or so times, on at least half the times, people tailgate and one was even high beaming at her. At all times she was doing the EXACT speed limit.
I was shocked at how nasty and impatient people are now.
I will be buying dashcams for front and rear, and have found some YT channels that specialise in posting these clips. Hopefully as a sort of ‘name & shame.’
Staggers me how nasty and spiteful so many people are. 😔

Cammer here again, I have a new update! (Interesting how it's just come up now haha).
I've had a call from the police regarding the incident.
The learner did pass her test in the end but doesn't want to provide a statement and bring it all back up.
However I am happy to provide a statement which I'll be doing next week. From what I've gathered, the driver of the BMW has also been contacted by the police but I have no more info beyond that. I will try and post another update should anything else pop up.

The act of shouting itself does not preclude the shouter from being a good driver. The act of getting out of one's car on the other hand, like we see in this video, makes it logical to presume that the road rager shouldn't be on the road. The majority of us have shouted (without stopping or exiting the car) at one time or another, be it under our breaths or out an open window.

Main roads are to keep traffic flowing and going. Not meant for stopping. If you need to stop or get out of your vehicle. You reduce the risk of an accident happening to you if u just find a safe space after turning off the main road. But hey back to this guy in video. He has no care for himself or others by just putting them all in danger by just stopping in middle off the road.
Well let me rephrase that, not annoyance. I absolutely hate those drivers who stop on main roads. As I said I drive myself mainly because of the danger I would be putting myself or others in. Just before covid I was on a driving lesson with a young girl on the hour before her drivimg test. As I call it, she starting to put the kettle on. What I mean by that is she was starting to get a bit nervous with just 20 minutes to go before her test. She approached a mini roundabout in a 20 mile an hour limit and was turning left. She's probably should have give way but she popped out in in front of car driven by a man well over 60 and he was approximately 30 or more mtrs from the mini roundabout and he sounded his horn. I did what i alway do and put my hand up open fingers to say sorry even if i don't feel that way. This was just a diffuse the situation as what you call a non event. He didn't even have to slow down from his approximate 15 mph. I pulled her in about 100 m to have a and a little talk and try and calm her nerves before the test. The man then pulled up alongside of us and started to rant, not at me but at the 18 year old girl. I tried to intervene but he was not listening.until I shouted , thanks, she's on her driving test in 20 minutes. He then just drove off but the damage was done. I'm pretty sure that girl would have passed first time if not for that horrible person. Covid kicked in and it took her a year more to pass . Three time her test was booked 1 day and cancelled before each lockdown. After 41 yes as an instructor this is the main reason reason I technically retired Christmas 22 but have continued to finish all my students. On my Facebook when I said I was retiring i put a message to to this girl that she would only understand as we talked a lot about aspects of the job and why I would retire. She like the comment and now looks cool in her mini clubman pay for by her hard work while learning and saving up for her dream car. I still get a buzz when students pass their test but I won't miss the traffic and the harassment from traffic after the last four students I have left. The last one will be bittersweet and I'm sure I will have a tear my eyes.

I think some people must forget they were once a learner - not sure how you can forget that experience (and that's coming from someone who hasn't been in that experience yet at all but will be very soon) and the mistakes you will have undoubtedly made. The fact he ruined her test single-handedly shows what kind of person he is. Maybe he never took his test and so doesn't know what a horn is or what the give way line actually means, and that's why he can't remember making the same mistake. I was in the area this time last year, on my way from Manchester to Norwich, it took around 1 1/2 hours to travel between Newark and Kings Lynn, averaging only around 40 mph. This is where I used to live. I'm still fairly close, but don't have to drive that road very often nowadays. It's always been a road that brings out the idiots in people. Probably because it's a main route through Lincolnshire and we have lots of single carriageways and hgv traffic.
The section leading up to that clip is a crawler lane. It's often abused by drivers thinking they can do motorway speeds and the merge section at the end causes issues.
The idiot in the BMW's behaviour was inexcusable. But not unexpected. It seems that as someone who regularly cycles around Lincolnshire, I receive the same treatment as learner driver vehicles. Too many impatient morons behind the wheel in a rush. You receive road rage here for simply being on the road.

To the angry man in the BMW if you have a 1 year old in your car, why on earth would you stop on an active 60mph road knowing fine well a car could come at 70-80 and slam into the back of you? 😂 Very irresponsible of you, you are the real danger to that child! Such a shame, screaming and shouting scaring everybody involved! Should be absolutely ashamed of yourself.

Road rage and anger issues are contagious, be careful what you sow because it will affect your entire life.
I have a friend who can be aggressive and was violent in his youth. [calmed down a bit now he is in his 70’s… but not much]
He once had his 4 kids in the back of his car in town and a cyclist came out of a side road causing him the slam the brakes on, no seat belts in them days so the kids on the back seat went flying forwards ending up in the foot well.
He hurled abuse at the cyclist to which the cyclist got off of his bike and became belligerent and aggressive and threatened him.
Get got out of his car and shoved the guy over a low brick wall into someone’s garden, then picked the bike up and threw it over the wall on top of him.
As he walked back to the car the kids were all wide eyed staring at him in shock.
They all drove home in silence and as soon as they got in the kids blurted out what happened to his wife so he got an ear bashing off of the misses.
The point being though, is that all of his oldest kids grew up to be aggressive and violent while the youngest were more easy going and calmer.
As he got older he mellowed so the younger his kids the less aggression they saw him from him.
[overall the entire family have not had a quite life, full of conflict and strife]

I was about to say that this one of the main roads if you want to travel from North Wales to East Anglia across the middle of England so you often get impatient drivers who are going long distance wanting to get through ASAP, [high amounts of traffic going long distance on single lane roads with lots of sections of lower speed limits]
but to learn that he had a young child in the car means that he is probably local to the area and not traveling much distance.
Either way he has massive anger issues and needs help, [this is probably an issue with him out of the car as well]

I had something akin to the start if that incident yesterday. I (learner driver) was heading up an A road at about 60mph when someone pulled out about 150-200 yards ahead of me. Only my response was to brake and maintain distance as the car in front got up to speed. No horns, no harm. We all just got on with our day. "If you do that on your test, you'll fail" - though i had made some minor errors myself during the drive.

    • @derekheeps1244
      @derekheeps1244 ปีที่แล้ว

I would say it very much depends on distances and speed differential , also on following traffic . As a former advanced instructor I'd be concerned if a student didn't brake if the emerge was close enough to risk a collision , even if it did inconvenience people behind , but if there was no imminent risk of collision then I'd be happier with just lifting off the throttle until you saw whether the emerging vehicle was going to get up to speed .
We always taught - the first method of braking is by acceleration sense , the second method is by braking : in other words there should almost always be a period of deceleration before needing to use the brakes - only in an emergency should you need to come straight off the accelerator and onto the brakes , unless you are using both at once which only is taught in certain more advanced driving scenarios , and not for normal driving .

The thing is about learners is that they have road signs front and rear to warn you of their novice status. The other thing to remember is they are in some respects incompetent and trying to acquire the full range of skills to pass the driving test. So if you mess about with them they may suddenly do totally the wrong thing in a big way which could cause damage to your vehicle.

A selfish attitude over minor inconveniences. If his 1 year old child was in danger, it wouldn't have been because of the learner driver

I remember I had a lesson at 9am on a weekday and was driving normally around a roundabout with my instructor saying it’s been going good today. Next minute the car behind comes around the outside of the me on the roundabout and overtakes me on the exit. Then proceeds to stop the car, get out and walk up to my window screaming that I was speeding and I cut off him mum who was following behind him. It all happened so quick that you don’t really have time to even process it. Luckily I used it as a lesson to help me relax when driving from then onwards as I thought there’s no way it can get worse than that at any point!

Know the the roundabout well. Leadenham to Sleaford. That Leg onto the roundabout is not traffic light controlled for some reason but all others are. Never an unmarked car around when you need one. That guy could of caused a pileup slamming the anchors on like that on that stretch of road. I think he was a bit fast as well coming up to the Leadenham juction (not a slip road BTW a Tee Junction). I've had several occasions where I have had HGV's tailgate my van on that stretch even when I'm turning right near Cranwell. I had to put the indicator on early and then the brakes lightly and they still didn't get the hint and stayed on the rear bumper.

Funny day today. 3 people pulled out in front of me today. One of those needed an emergency stop! I just dealt with it and got on with my day. Yep! I have calmed down a lot, and, Largely down to Ashley's video's. Great driving lesson's and life lesson's too. But, Should said BMW driver had walked up on me in such a way, an erm! 'assertive' discussion would ensue! In fact, I'd have had 'that discussion' once he walked up on the learner driver. I actually do like bullies! It's called 'play time'
I still make mistakes when driving, we all do. But, when you see a a learner, leaning to drive, then you must accept that they will make mistakes. The very worst mistake a driver could ever make is this. My partner is learning to drive. She's not very good at it truth be told. She is learning. Doing well too. But, should anyone ever dare walk up on her in this way, I will ruin your day. That, I promise you! Be very careful who you piss off!!!
