You got hit by a Electromagnetic missile. They do shield and component damage especially on light fighters so it took out your shields. its H for flares and J for noise. You can press Alt+H/J to preload multiple flares for bigger ships with higher signatures. Good luck in the verse o7
Olli, your experience completely copies everybody else who is new to the 3.16-3.17. Ure fine! Suggest going to arena commander on vandul swarm just to familiarize yorself with sc combat. Emp missile damaged your shield generator(disruption damage damages components directly, by frying them) so if you get hit by emp and your shield goes down, chances are, its down for good. Watch out for blue lasers - these are disruptor repeaters, basically emp version of normal laser repeaters. Missiles are pretty stupid, if dodged correctly. Pop a flare and boost+strafe in any direction, or rapidly pitch up, so missile goes after flare, not you. H for flares. Also, J for chaff, but its more useful for people with gimbals or dropping pursuers since it drops enemy lock. Only while you are within cloud tho, or when enemy is. Basically chaff spikes background radiation, saturating enemy (and your) sensors with junk noise. Like a ninja smokebomb, you just disappear, only while inside this cloud. Use boost during combat, basically boost sends more power to any thruster currently working. Want to increase turn speed? Boost. Want to sharpen the maneuver? Boost. Want to rapidly change movement direction? Guess it. I usually just dance around enemy ships flipping and flopping above them using that. Also, you set 0 power to engine, don’t make it a habit, makes you easy target, and boost doesn’t recharge. Boost gives you tactical advantage if used right. Mouse-wheel dictates your “speed limit”, and ship will try to maintain it. For ex middle square will mean about 500ms. For closing in i suggest maxing it out. For combat, especially in atmo, keep it in “green zone” or you will be extremely bad at maneuvering. At some point you can forget it and start managing speed yourself, gives you flexibility and control over the enemy who has to change limits. NPC rarely go faster then green speed, so using decoupled or high speed limit on them is best, allows you to pick your fights. Never decouple on planets. Just a bit of tunnel vision, and you make a literal tunnel in the closest mountain. Whoa, long one.
Addendum: ship s you were fighting were two eclipses in a row, which is rare. Eclipses have really nasty large missiles, they are basically a torpedo carriers inspired by B-2 delta-wing. They usually sport small offensive capability in dogfight, and devastating punch from afar, and rely on stealth to hit and run. So best strat vs them is close dogfight. And AI is just bad at stealth utilization, so… just go up in his face and pummel him to death. And another one: ballistic weapons like cannons and gatling guns penetrate shields, but lose damage upon the penetration. Basically shields slow bullets down. So they directly damage hull always, and scratch shields in process. Lasers and disruptors, on other hand, are completely stopped by shields, but shield takes full punch, so usual strat is to have laser repeaters to down the shield and cannons to do insane damage to the unshielded enemy. Ballistic weapons need ammo tho, and will run out, unlike energy ones. And usually NPC fights are fast with lots of damage dealt in short period of time, since npcs are bad at evaision, and PVP fights are more dragged out since way more shots miss. So if you plan on taking on player bounties, prefer mostly energy load-out, if you prefer avoiding those - then ure good with even full-ballistic, since fights will be even shorter this way = faster money. In any case, anything goes. You can even use size 10 railguns to hunt EVA players, its Verse, after all… o7

That one that kept trying to ram you is an Enclipse class Stealth Bomber. Their main weapons are antiship torpedoes, and a pair of size 1 Gatling's as standard. Their equipment probably wasn't capable of killing you considering the short range hence going for ram
The Hornet can take up to 6 guns if you go to the ship shop at Port Olisar You can get the Ball Turret to give an additional two hard points for 6600 auec and there is also a nose turret for 4000 auec to put another two size ones. Or you could just mount a size 3 directly to the nose.
Hey Olli, check out the "mouse smoothing" setting. You can add even just a little bit and it will improve the watching experience for your viewers tremendously because your camera won't be so jerky. Might not be ideal for competitive PVP FPS or dogfighting, but it also just makes the game feel even more cinematic!
Your joy seeing how you enter the Blade was nice! I wanted to suggest you try using a HOTAS if you have any interest, since you like the sim aspect so much. The Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4 is great for the money and good to try it out without dropping a lot. My controls were yaw and pitch on the stick, roll on the throttle paddle, forward and reverse thrust on the throttle and the maneuvering thrusters (up down left right) assigned to the HAT switch. (Traditional flight simmers will say pitch and roll on the stick cuz that's how you fly in-atmo planes. Pitch and yaw gives you normal joystick control of your nose. Do whatever works for you) Understanding 6 degrees of movement (DOM, or DOF for freedom) might help you understand what you're capable of especially in an agile fighter. Get all that sorted and head to an asteroid field to mess around with making decoupled turns and maneuvers. Races are a good place to work on decoupling too. You'll start feeling like a space ninja pretty quick. Keep having fun!
17:30 you have NO idea how lucky u got xD xD Full power to shields so weapons wouldnt recharge, and also would recommend NOT putting speed limiter any lower than max, thats why you couldnt get away because your limited stopped your ship from going faster.
Never ever fly strait at an opponent. Always strafe and rotate as you get closer,lower speed to a safe speed and pre turn into them. then you can get behind them and not get into a jousting battle. Use your Boost [shift] to turn quicker and learn those countermeasure keybinds :p. Another great vid.
I love seeing your new player bounty experience! If you havent yet figured it out, Anvil F7C Hornets can take way more than 2 weapons, they don't come fully outfitted from the factory, you can end up with up to 6 laser repeaters on that ship, its way more powerful than you think! Hornets are my favorite fighters, a good balance of speed and maneuverability plus heavier firepower than light fighters. If you get really good with it you can even keep up with ace pilots in light fighters and take them out. I hope we can get the F7A Military variant someday! Keep up with the sweet vids man!
If your helmet isn't on the icons on your screen won't be there, as the icons are projected on the inside of your visor. There are some still, there for the game ui IF you are seeing LARGE font WHITE text your helmet ISNT ON!
Ollie. If you have a webcam on you can turn on faceware (poor man's Tobii Eyetrack) for when you're in your ship. It's a game changer for tracking targets in a dogfight. Also amazing for checking out the beautiful views.

the aurora is doable untill medium threat. Use 4 gimballed laser repeater and only focus at the main target. I use shoot n dip. if your shield down, use dip n shit XD. jkjk full power to shield and boost away from the enemies and full power to weapon after fully charged. Repeat
Phew. Ok. Basics. 1) Flying directly at your target (or rather slightly off to one side of it) is called jousting and done preferably in space and with decoupled flight. Because if you actually fly directly at your target, you will crash. 2) Rather than jousting circle-strafing will allow you to maintain guns on target for a longer time and offer more control over the encounter. You can circle strafe to one side and turn the other side, but since the manouvering thrusters on your bottom are more powerful than the rest, strafing up and aiming down is considered to be slightly better. However in atmosphere you want to stay level in order to not crash into the surface, which is why either one wing should always point towards the ground or for the beginning you should just strafe sideways. 3) You have countermeasures that you can use via "H" and "J". If you hear the alarm for a rocket beeping up, use them to lose the rocket. Rockets can destroy your components in their blast (that's probably what happened to your shields when the rocket hit you, which is why they didn't recharge afterwards) 4) The F7C Hornet is badly equipped for combat from the get go. You can either buy a S5 gimbal with S4 gun or a turret with S2 guns for it's central circle, and either a S3 gun, S3 gimbal mount with S2 gun, or a nose turret with 2 S1 guns for the front to get a fully equipped Hornet. Please keep in mind that you'll also need a better power generator and coolers to support those additional guns. Personally I equipped mine like this: www.erkul.games/loadout/19VPyuas

I know this is an old video, but if you're planning to use that type of ship, which is a fighter class, make sure to have some sort of carrier class ship that can do long jumps
And both of your ships are not good for first ,main ships! Get Arrow, Hawk, or get Nomad and the ground mining apc and you can do mining and bounties,just change shields on the Nomad

I did the exact same thing, running out of quantum at L4, so I paid a dude to come pick me up
When you quantum jump to L4 you have to manually fly the rest of the way.. There’s a Rest stop there.

nice! You really need to upgrade that Hornet and get some more guns on that ship. You can equip anywhere between 4-6 weapons on it.

Yes, however be careful with gas giants, you can't land on those, only fly through them.
