@@13Mizzou That isn’t why Kyle is moving away from Gibbs that is just the public reason being used to put Ty in the car next year. However, Joe should really think if he need another year of maturing because you have to think that Toyota has to be furious about his actions. They went from a 50% chance to win the championship to a 25% chance in one lap. Seems like RCR had no trouble finding a sponsor for Kyle by the way so the sponsorship thing doesn’t hold much weight.

How does Joe Gibbs send a message in the greatest way possible? "Hey Ty, you know all those rumors and expectations that you're taking over the 18 in Cup? You wrecked your way out of that."
That's absolutely the way Joe sends the message. But if he doesn't, I guarantee that the other Cup racers are going to send it their own way.
If Ty gets into the Cup with that kind of attitude, he might not finish a single race.

There is no way JGR will park the bosses grandson this weekend. What will happen is that the debts rung up during the year will come due. Could he win the championship straight up this weekend? Yes, definitely. Will he? He has a line of people, including some on his own team, that will make sure he doesn't. He better run like he's scared because there will be a lot of people ready to collect on that debt.
You are dead on. There is a guantlet of guys he has wronged, and they will be damned if he wins the championship. Ain't happening.

I can tell you where Ty Gibbs will go in the future including this weekend and into the future. He will be spending a lot of time in the wall and may not be finishing many races. Joe Gibbs will be spending a ton of money on new cars in the future also. Great seeing Steve on the show guys.

I love listening to Steve talk about all this stuff. He has such an experienced perspective that he communicates genuinely without making himself sound self important or self righteous...and FYI, all three around that table have that ability. I love these three guys together.
At 8:01 Dale absolutely nails it. Our thoughts and beliefs in all things in life not just religion are often latched on to in order to create an identity for ourselves. Ty has regurgitated this gospel speak for years without ever applying any of it to his actions and way of life, completely devaluing it to a talking point that he’s used to shine good light on his name when he’s done something wrong.
i picked up on that too. i think what Jr was trying to say was that this kid is a product of his environment.
Joe's integrity is on the line. How he deals with this situation will speak volumes on who he really is. I'm pretty certain I'll be shaking my head in disbelief when he does nothing. TyBaby is NOT ready for Sunday, or Saturday, or Friday. He's showing he is utterly immature.

IMHO…I wouldn’t be surprised if Jones or one of Jr Motorsport’s cars doesn’t dump Gibbs at Phoenix. He’s wrecked every car out there at one time or another. He doesn’t deserve to win a championship now or ever, and moving him up to the 18 next year is ludicrous. I’d be surprised they could get a sponsor for that car with him driving.
The character of a man can easily be determined by how he treats those that can do nothing for him.

Jr and Steve are so knowledgeable about the sport and life. Joe needs to put someone else in the 18 car and show that kid some tough love. He needs that for his own good.

0% chance he does that. It would be justified, but if Jones is a professional...he moves on and looks forward to next year with JRM. No reason to burn bridges with JGR.

Jones wasn't angry, he wasn't screaming and swearing, he was hurt, and he felt betrayed by his own. That's the kind of betrayal that gets to fester for a whole week. He gets to roll into PHX and see all of the fan fare and media attention that the final 4 drivers receive, and he gets to see what Bibbs DENIED him of. That makes blood boil and brings that betrayal right to the top. His own teammate smoked him for no reason with nothing to gain, and his own car owner did nothing about it. He could give 2 shits about that bridge as he's never going to need to cross it again. He's moving over to JRM next year, he doesn't care who's feelings he hurts or who's equipment he destroys doing it. What a nice gift to bring to your new team like helping them get a title. I hope he snuffs Bibbs into the fence early and takes that car out totally. Then I hope he takes his own car back to the garage, gets out, and walks away. The cheers from the fans will break the decibel meter. Congrats to JRM on their 2022 Xfinity Championship !!!

When Jr. left DEI, the Earnhardt that had created the company was gone.
And it was being run into the ground by Senior's widow...who, by all accounts, was a horrible boss.
So, Jr. wasn't leaving (in his view) the family company, as much as he was just wanting to get away from Theresa.
Jr knew Teresa didn't have the desire or commitment to get DEI where they needed to be and she even called him out publicly. There was no fixing that partnership
The 2 are nowhere near comparable. Sr. died and the company was in turmoil. Teresa took everything away from Sr.'s sons. Even the last name. It wasn't just dale Jr. who felt betrayed.

Steve made a profound, wisdom-filled comment when he spoke of taking the Gibbs incident out of the sports arena and just talk about human decency. Spot on, Steve! Thank you all for a reflecting and sharing much wisdom and insight. The comment was made by Mike and I agree. The best action that could be taken would be for coach Gibbs to put another driver in 54 car and his grandson in the stands. That would speak volumes to the industry, the fans, and hopefully to Ty.
We could go on all day with examples of drivers moving other drivers hell Brandon moved him the lap before Jr has a hard on for Noah and he's peanut butter and jealous of ty

He has proven over and over again he is NOT cup level ready, he needs to mature 10 fold.
I think he's done a lot of harm to his career this year. That move was the last straw. He gave a free pass to everybody in NASCAR because look how he raced his teammate. Nobody's going to feel bad about moving him aggressively and the fans won't mind either.
And its a shame as he like all of the drivers had a future ahead of him and giving everyone a free pass to mess with him is the last thing you want to do as a driver.

I've also seen him walk past everyone, not be rude though. His driver had just won at MIS, this was also 11 years ago not too long after he started the team I think. This also shows his passion for his drivers.

Ty's maturity level is far less than the level he is racing. He should be put in the Powder Puff next year, and start EARNING his way back to a higher level.

This is just as much as Joe’s fault for not communicating to Ty in how important it is to not wreck your teammate who’s about to win and make the final 4. @@bjw9529 he has made stupid decisions in the 45/23 car. He already got roasted by Larry McReynolds for intentionally slamming into the side of Ty Gibbs on pit road and forcing him to lock up a tire so he didn’t hit a pit crew. Erik Jones also had some words for him on twitter.

If I recall, Ty door-slammed the other Ty on pit road at Texas and was fined 75 grand. Put the lives of pit crewman in danger. So, he has already showed his ass in Cup. Just a matter of time he'll do it again. But I like your take, demote back to go-carts, and let's try progressing again from there. Maybe a second time around he'd appreciate the opportunity instead of "expect" it all to be handed to him.

I'm old school fan from the 70's. I remember the concern about Bobby Hillin being "entitled" at 18yrs old driving in Cup (1982 or so) for the deep pocket Stavola Brothers with next to none experience, and the old guard was worried he'd be a danger to himself and others. Nothing back in the day comes remotely close to the clown show nascar has become, in all three top series with so many selfish clowns causing so many issues.

This reflects more on the team and family than the 20 year old kid. 20 year old kids aren’t supposed to have perfect self awareness or not make mistakes, but the fact that it’s this bad tells me he’s learned that and has been allowed to behave like that.

I haven’t watched a full NASCAR race in a decade or more, but find myself glued to this channel. Congratulations Jr.
One more thing I always told my kids as well as my employees “ Do all the right things when nobody is looking”. Ty needs to be told “You must do the right things because EVERYBODY is looking”. Can’t fault him as much as you should fault Joe Gibbs as he should have handled this months ago. I truly don’t think he would have a ride to be honest or at least great equipment if it wasn’t for Grand Pappy Joe. A true example of a kid that thinks he is entitled is Ty Gibbs. He is truly his worst own enemy but yet still young enough to turn it around.

I mentioned this elsewhere but if Coach and Coy don't lay down some hurt this time, they lose a lot of respect from the sponsors, other organizations, other teams and drivers, the fans etc. etc. etc. I have a scenario that would make an effect. It is widely accepted that Ty is in the 18 next year. John Hunter is out of a truck ride and is a Toyota asset. I see JH going to the 54 next year and then the 19 when Truex retires. I think the Coach should put John Hunter in the 18 NEXT year and let Ty cool his ego in Xfinity for another year.
This would be the most logical thing to do. Will coach have the sack to make it happen? Doubt it, only time will tell
@@bparks_5095 I would have more faith in the coach doing something than I do with his dad. Ty didn't get this way by mistake. Earlier this year when Ty made one of his bonehead moves, Coy said, "He's my boy and I got his back".
One of JGRs problems is that Gibbs and Nemecheck aren’t really likely to ever be fan favorites. In just a few years they’re gonna go from guys like Kenseth, Edwards, and Truex along with Kyle who is hated but also has fans to Ty and Nemecheck plus Bell and Denny. C-Bell is gonna be their only driver who doesn’t get booed every week. They’re already having problems with getting sponsors. At some point you’re gonna have to try and sell those sponsors on your drivers over the Elliotts, Larsons and now Chastains of the sport. Suarez, Bubba, Blaney, Gragson, all infinitely more marketable. Even Alex Bowman is at least likeable. It’s like Gibbs is becoming the douche-brigade.

Why you think Brandon Jones is going to jr motorsports? Same reason he was at gibbs for 8 years and only won 5 races while the organization won 195, because his father owns Rheem and sponsors half of nascar, it dam sure doesn't have nothing to do with talent.

Ty Gibbs will never have a true teammate after that move. He clearly showed he don't care about anyone but himself.
Teammates in nascar is dumb anyway every driver should fend for themselves and this is one of the reasons why because a lot of drivers are not going to be content to sit back and just run 2nd.
If I was a nascar driver I wouldn't want no teammate. I wouldn't want to be like oh I can't do this move because my teammate is right there.
Or I can't do the bumper run like Jeff Gordon or Jeremy Mayfield because my teammate is right there and he might get collected in the wreak. You are restricted when you have a teammate on a race track it makes no sense.
#1 - Joe Gibbs said there has to be a consequence. The only thing that will work is if he keeps Ty in xfinity another year, like he said at the beginning of the year. The other interview of Joe, he said they needed to "walk through this together" and bunch of other blather. So I'm not holding my breath. #2 - If I were Menards (sponsor of the JGR 19 car) I would already be on the phone with Joe cancelling next year's sponsorship. WTF we could have contended for the championship, but your grandson intentionally wrecked us? #3 Go JRM! Don't let that punk win!

Joe Gibbs should park him from the top 3 series and arca for 2023 because the ramifications are deeper than just the 19 car. That's a 50% championship winning chance gone for JGR's xfinity program. Sure you can say 25% now since its 3 JRM cars but realistically there's a ton of guys in the field that want to pull his card and may not let that happen. I think he should be placed in a back marker team in trucks or xfinity if he stays. Something to make him appreciate the position he is literally born in. Doubt that's gonna happen though. Just like i doubt Brandon Jones will wreck him next week.

NASCAR fans have the longest memories in sports and drivers never forget transgressions against them. Eventually the weight of being almost universally hated is gonna hit Ty. We all wanna be loved at our core, and he does nothing to earn the admiration of the garage or the fans.

I love Steve ! He helped me and my family get on the elevator in Martinsville. I’m on oxygen and waiting for a lung transplant and they were giving me a hard time about riding the elevator. He walked up and asked what the problem was and when we explained he said just come with me.
I messed up though, I asked to take his picture and he said sure and I did! I should have taken my picture with him. I love him, and grateful appreciated him that day.

Fans are missing the BIGGEST part of this whole mess - the fact that his DADDY Coy Gibbs is the V.P. of Joe Gibbs Racing, and wasn't even upset in the press conference and would NOT chastise his baby boy. Again. Blows it off, defends his widdle baby. THAT should send team mates calling for immediate emergency meetings with Joe Gibbs himself, asking to be released from their contracts to go find jobs elsewhere....because no one in their right mind should want to be there. Yet know one is blasting Coy Gibbs. NO ONE.

The hypocrisy at JGR is incredible. They "talk the talk" but they certainly don't "walk the walk." Ty Gibbs continues to make the same moves so he obviously hasn't learned from his past actions. What he has shown is that he does not have the temperament nor the maturity to make the move to the Cup level. And probably shouldn't be allowed to drive at the Xfinity level. What he needs ... is for someone to take him behind the woodshed and give him what my Dad referred to as ... "the benefit of discipline."
Joe Gibbs won't do it ... but what should happen is for Ty Gibbs to be parked next week. Just a shame that there's no mechanism for Brandon Jones to take his place.

Having grown up as a pastor’s kid, I know exactly what Dale Jr is saying when referring to Ty quoting a scripture verse. I’ve seen so many people take a verse, or a portion of a verse, and try to twist it in an attempt to justify their actions.

I know the ship has sailed far and long for this, but the importance of teammates used to carry far less weight in NASCAR. I remember back in the day when NASCAR drivers and teams would make fun of Indy and F1 teams for doing things like giving up spaces or something to help a teammate out. When the green dropped, the only car that mattered to a NASCAR team was THEIR car, not the one they park next to in the shop.
I also think the elimination/playoff format has contributed to this. Fighting tooth and nail for every win and every position in every single race is what mattered, not doing calculus on how many positions the teammate needs to secure a spot in the next round, and how many I can give up to help him out.
Again, this is all "old man shakes fist at clouds" at this point. They're not going to roll anything back like that. There's too much money involved now (even though the fanbase is shrinking). But this isn't a discuss that would have happened 20, 25, 30 years ago.
