Abandoned- Huge 50`s home with huge Pool and hidden shed with stuff

  • Hey house lovers and explorers!
This video we take a look at this massive early 50`homes. Look can be deceiving from the front but there is room after room after room of old 50`s retro. Unfortunately it is in rough shape and from my understanding it used to be a hoarders home for its last use.
It would have started life as a very upper class and expensive one level mansion almost and the art deco themes are classic to revival period also known as waterfall style. This is one that I would absolutely love to see in original condition. Still heaps to see though including a massive lap pool and a hidden shed with stuff in it that almost remained unseen.
Hope you all enjoy. Cheers for watching :-)

This house was built in the 1930’s…The door knobs tell the tale as well as the art deco bathroom. Just gorgeous!

Curved glass is a postwar thing, it would have been imported from UK.

You can definitely see the hand of a countryman in the planning there. Really went bonkers on the blueprints, and told the builder to throw everything in the pattern book at the kitchen, must have sunk a packet into it Right down to the pediment tile work to match the deco stepped alcove in the bath. Lovely early 50's red\& white in the kitchen so appropriate to the time. Wow. Good Job Catching it before the end came.

Man, that bathroom is utterly spectacular! The sun-ray motif in the floor, the gorgeous shiny "deco green" and black tiles, the matching china of the tub and basin. The stair-step "zig zag" threshold headers are icing on a magnificent confection. I love it!!!

That bathroom was awesome,, same with the kitchen. Couple of classic pushies in the shed ,, one looked like a repco but couldn’t make the others out . I’ll screenshot them and enlarge them ( love old bikes ) . Great find mate , she was a classy dame back in the day I’m sure.cheers mate.

The glorious fireplace mantle! Loved it, so perfect, exactly what I'd love to have if we could have a fireplace. The green bathroom was lovely, just surprised it was relatively small for such a vast house, with the bath squeezed at the back. The spacious kitchen must have been so nice to cook and have a meal in. The magical waterfall shape of the house! Thank you for such a beautiful visit. It is so sad that it came to this state of decay, and will be replaced with a nice but impersonal house. But you saved it forever in our collective memories :)

Wow!! This was amazing!!! Been watching your channel for awhile now, Paul, (hitting the 'thumbs up' button every time!) and I do believe this is your largest, residential home explore to date! She must have been something back in the day, when her floors were polished and the furniture was placed just so! Can you imagine what we would have seen had we gotten there before the reno started? I don't think it'd ever seen an update in all the years she stood - and I'm wondering if the house wasn't built some time in the 1920's (I only say that because the button handles on the cupboard (cabinet) doors in the kitchen looked exactly like the ones my parent's had on their original cupboard doors, and their house was built in 1921). I had to chuckle when you noticed the broken down bicycle in the first bedroom (with the built-in headboard), and came across the bike wheel in, I think, was the last bedroom and thought, "Well, there's the rest of the bike!" - they sure did like their bikes, didn't they? The fact that you even thought to plow through that foliage to find that hidden shed - too cool (I would have stopped at the pool skimmers laying there on the ground and wondered who's hands of those that lived in this house had placed them there...possibly expecting to come back and put them away properly, but never did), and because of that, I would have totally missed that hidden path...well, that and worrying about your awful Aussie spiders lurking in the bushes! Anyways, this was A Most Excellent explore and, as always, so glad you shared!

What a home this would have been when it was first built. That Art Deco bathroom was spot on! And the red and white kitchen was big here in the 40’s and early 50’s in the Midwest, US. We are a two generation family living in a large house. My dream would be to have a small house about 600 to 800 sq. feet. The more available space the more stuff comes in, less space one is choosier about what is brought into the home. Having stuff keeps me busy taking care of it and less time for what I’d rather be doing. So I’ve been busy donating to the public library, church thrift store, and goodwill. The hardest to give away are the books, but still have more to do. I don’t envy the big house, but having a pool like that!! That makes me a tad envious 😁. Thanks for the video Paul👍🏻😊

Other than the pool, the backyard was almost anticlimactic compared to the house, perhaps because it was so overgrown.

What a lovely old home. It would have been stunning in its hay day. Being a hoarder is a mental condition. I would say it was an older couple living in the house with the two different height marks on the wall as though it was used for their stabilty when walking. Maybe they were overwelmed with everything and it got out of control.

Not sure how such a stunning house from the 40s/50 got that bad. My house is from 45 and still in good shape, just needs some cosmetic work. The art deco features on that house are incredible. That second room off the master could be a dressing area. I've seen them in expensive homes here.

"We are planning on knocking down this wonderfully styled home to bring you these boring planned homes for you." Ugh! I hate developments at times. I understand about progress, but I would rather have my home with some outside personality as well. That means for it not to look like a clone of the others. I love me some art deco-stylized homes.

I’m curious as to the floor layout. There was that one little room with the toilet and another with only a sink and shower. Could they have added a wall separating the two? Nice find!❤

Hoarding disorder such a tragic disorder that does not care what demographic you come from. Sad to think there was such despair in this home. I am floored by this treasure of a house. How it hasn't been saved is beyond me. It is hard to watch you film this and know that it is going to be destroyed. What a find. Thank you for sharing it with us. Waving from Maine.

That would have been beautiful back in the day or even now if it had been taken care of properly. Hoarding is usually brought on by depression and/ or panic disorder and the person not being taken care of and shown the love they needed just like the house.

Have you ever thought of checking the tax rolls to see if any of the previous owners/families of this wonderful home would have pictures of the home that they would share with you? It would be so nice to see what it looked like when it was first built. You do such a great job with the videography on these old homes and its such a shame they are left to rot or torn down in favor of ugly brass and glass. I live in Texas and when there are old buildings the state, city or county will put up a marker letting you know what year, who built it, what it's purpose was. No one would dare tear it down or destroy it in any way. Keep doing what you do because the consideration you give the properties and your viewers is just amazing!
