@@Sethglover99 yeah he's going off with all of these albums fully produced by him. Earl Sweatshirt, Boldy James, Larry June (that album is one of my favorites), etc
The orbit concept is a very good one my friend. Thinking about samples as textures is a good tip... that's why I think producers can benefit from sampling punk, new wave and experimental music - the sounds are already interesting to listen 😎👍🏼
Tana talk 3 from Benny the Butcher has great examples in Goodnight, Broken Bottles, and Rubber Bands & Weight. Boldly James works with Alc frequently and they have a lot more examples of this in Flight Risk, Speed Demon Freestyle, and Belvedere. Plenty more, just keeping it short.
Bro, I laughed so hard when you said you had to close the sun video out of fear. I had that exact experience when I saw it the first time. I don’t need to know everything lol.
The Clout Dracula instrumental Alchemist conjured is probably my favourite piece. That one literally encompasses all elements you mentioned plus some reversed sample work. Also the infrequent use of 808. P.S. DOPE BEAT!
Subtractive arrangement is a great method if you work with a sampler like an mpc and a daw. You can use a single sequence where you stack all your elements. After bouncing the different tracks you can import them into your daw and extend it to the length of your beat. Now you just need to delete different tracks and add some automations..et voilà
This video has helped my beat making a lot and has opened my eyes to hole new possibilities. Thank you for explaining this idea so clearly and for making this video so entertaining!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
that's why you don't make these types of beats like you would do on FL studio... you have to use the sample track as a way to build different sounds that makes sense... J Cole's The Cut Off track... it uses the piano as the sub bass, flipped backwards and reshuffled, it's crazy
This pretty much describes my SP-404 workflow. Cook up an almost cluttered 8bar loop then strip it down for arrangement. Btw your demo track was ill. Keep up the good work homie 👍
Guys, I apologize if this is a stupid question, but, when it comes to your drums, it's not 'wrong' if it doesn't 'snap" to the grid? As in, be on time? Could I possibly make a drum loop slightly off grid, kinda like without the timing? It's kinda hard to describe, but when you quantize (I hope I'm saying it correctly), everything snaps on the grid and it's on time, but I've seen some videos where producers say it's a secret that not a lot of producers know about, or aren't able to do, when it's not on time, it makes the drums sound more organic, instead of like a robot. lol
Thanks Navie 👌 Pls make some videos about how to make beats like Lord Finesse and Big L type beats specially beats like those which were produced for the album "Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous" and the horn technique used in many rap songs from 90's. Thanks
@navied you mentioned that 808 were used in many old Wu-Tang beats and I’m wondering aside from “baby I got your money,” which has a clear 808 at the beginning, which Wu-Tang tracks have an 808 layered? I usually think of hi tek layering an 808 on his kick drum, which I read about years ago.
paaji kya aap thoda aur indian music pe videos bana sakte hai kya? An interesting idea maybe sampling RD Burman for a knxwledge or a madlib type flip - would love more analysis about the fusion of Punjabi percussion in a trap or boom bap pattern. Much love from New Delhi
NAVIE D CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE YOUR OWN TAKE ON FUTURE GARAGE SIMILIAR TO LEGENDARY PRODUCER BURIAL ? I WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU DO THAT SINCE YOUR PRODUCING GAME IS TOP NOTCH
Very on point as always Navie. But ffs , please stop it with the ''us mere mortals''. Alc ..is goated, god-tier producer ..but still , HERE..he's one of us beatmakers , where we all hold our own ...at least equally ✊
i see a navie d alchemist video and...my simple man comes to surface and i have to click ahah either way ive recently discovered the oxnard water sample and yhea this orbit ideia really its true, you really do your homework Navie!
hola navie, un gusto saludar y gracias por tus videos y conocimiento pero donde podria encontrar estos tipo de sonido como en el 5:56? de nuevo muchas gracias de antemano y espero que tengas un buen dia.
The Alchemist been in the game since the 90s and still performing at a high consistent level. This guy is a beast

Learnt so much from your channel over the years!
Changing the frequency of the repeating sample also helps keep the beat sounding fresh and less repetitive. 👌

I was raving about alchemist is past few weeks... you couldnt be any better with the timing!
Thank you! :D
Once again, another banging video Navie. The way you explain things and break it down to a simplistic level is very helpful. Thanks man

ALC uses a MPC 2500. Samples from vinil and use tecs on crates wile sampling. No one will get that sound on FL or any computer.

That's how you get swing brother. J dilla did it all the time
You do want some things to remain constant in order to keep a beat so it doesn't sound offbeat and off time.
This is Great! Thanks Man!!
Great video my favourite alchemist beat is thug muzik by mobb deep
Keep doing over explained 🔥
