Malto always was a role model for me when I was a younger teenager in 2010 or so because no matter how hard he failed he always smiled. I always wanted to smile as much too and so I learned to do which kind of made me become the person I now am. Although I'm not into skating anymore, I was check back in when I hear news about Malto. Hope there are even better times to come for him.
As someone who has broken their fibula skateboarding and pretty much gave the sport up (I was never really that good) there and then I have the utmost respect for Sean. Still to this day nearly fifteen years later I'd still not have the balls to skate again. I did play rugby a few years after and have been bodybuilding ever since but skating is just so damn ankle dominant that the fear of rolling it again put me right off. He's a true professional.

These companies are like fungus, Fallen has just announced their last season, which is normal when you have Nike and other big non-skater companies buying every single big skater out there =(
+Seb alex You missed my point. Skate videos have always and only been commercials. Their purpose is to create stars and sell products. Darkstar, Transworld, Almost and everyone else. You're unhappy because Nike is a "non-skater" company, but we wore Nikes on skateboards in the '70s. Adidas made the first good skate shoe in my opinion, beating Vans to it by over ten years with the 1965 Robert Haillet signature tennis shoe which later became the Stan Smith. Nike made the Bruin for basketball in '72, Puma had something similar in '73, Pony put out something good in '75. Converse was in there with the One Star...ALL these shoes were far superior to Vans, who made deck shoes at the time, and didn't even see themselves as a "skate shoe" company until '77. All the "skate" shoe brands you might be loyal to now were created in the '90s by greedy corporate minded newcomers to the shoe business. Why should I care about them? Because they're skateboarders? Ha. They're businessmen trying to get into something that will make them richer. Jamie Thomas left Circa and started Fallen because he could get a LOT more money. Period. If his business is failing, so what, it has nothing to do with skateboarding. Those companies might help skateboarders make more $$$ as pros, but only because board, truck and wheel companies - actual SKATE goods companies - barely provide. If skateboard hard goods companies were morally superior to global corporate behemoths like Nike shouldn't they take better care of their stars? If we as skaters are going to be bothered about anything, our attention should be focused on board, truck, and wheel companies' relationships with their teams, shouldn't it? If you don't like Apple, get a computer made by skateboarders. ;)
I don't really care about the pros or who earns the most money. I'm a consumer. when I'm out to get new shoes i would like to see more then just 2 or 3 different brands on the wall. when Nike have destroyed the competition some day I'm afraid thats what I'm left with. I already find it difficult to find shoes i like because of this. I also think skateboarding is about diversity and creativity. one way of expressing this is clothing. if we are left with only a few brands this aspect could be lost. Last thing is simply STICK IT TO THE MAN ;) BTW im not hardcore about this. it seems like you know more about skateboarding history then i do.
I can relate so much to this, currently injured and it's finally sunny outside, recently got a new complete board and new shoes that i want to skate at the new local park, but I can't and that's the worst feeling ever.
+abyolicious I know how you feel, last year i had an knee injury, in an operation they found out that my cruciate ligament is tattered and that would need another operation and that at the age of 18 :(, i couldnt skate for about 3 month (Summer months), and i desided against a new operation. now i am able to skate and its fun! i heard so much bad about acl operations. now i skate like before and luckily theres just rarely a little pain.
I could honestly watch Malto documentaries all day long! Please make more!
