@@christianweersink4149 lol try doing a HESS on an Android emulator with a cracked screen! I can speedrun SM64 with this broken phone but OoT is a whole different beast because of how difficult the HESS is on a phone.
If you're talking about doing the spin attack without powering it up, then you need to spin the control stick in a complete circle and then hit the B button within a fairly short window. That's pretty common knowledge though so I doubt that's what you're talking about :P
Is it known that you can do a slow hess off a torch? If you crouch stab a torch then hold ess position and hold target you can do a slow hess. I don't know if that's ever useful but I'm trying to skip King Zora on GameCube rn attempting low pause
This video was before GZ right? I find it so hard to get a HESS going on N64 and without the stick positions onscreen I'm somewhat blind to how well my ESS is going. Part of the problem is the button sequence is so fast that my thumb wants to press ESS really quickly, which means I can't prevent overshooting it easily. That and I don't think I am getting the explosion timing. I don't think I've tried the roll setup, that might be something to do later. (Edit: I have tried emulator with gz but my controller is pretty useless for getting ESS consistently)

You're most likely pressing Z+R too late. The timing also depends on your distance away from the bomb

Depends on your controller you use and what your emulator control stick settings are set to.

If you're doing the setupless hess, you just need to practice timing. Thats all there is to it.

Depends on the trick you're doing. Generally left or right works along with down-right and down-left
