    Wing Chun is extremely effective with a lot of practice (like anything) the fact that you picked up the fundamentals in 7 days was really impressive, would love to see a challenge where you spend a bit longer learning Wing Chun in depth! :))

    As can be seen in this video Wing Chun really is effective and builds self-confidence, calmness and joy. If in a short period of time of training in Wing Chun its effectiveness has developed considerably than certainly over the years it can be mastered to perfection of great combat skills. Very nicely made video about Wing Chun highlighting its philosophy and actions.

    Wing Chun is effective depending on how you train it. You have to do research on different Sifu's and curriculum to figure out what school would be the most conducive.

  • @LunaticReason

    As a Kung Fu practitioner I have to say I am sorry but this is the worst way to determine whether your martial arts is effective and in which context? Having no experience anyone fighting the most intermediate student is going to be inpressed especially under their own format. 7days is not enough time or experience in any martial art to really understand and build your foundations. Lastly beating someone doesnt prove that a martial art if effective because everyone even champions lose. Ugh this kind of testing is exactly why we have such bad Kung fu fighters getting their asses kicked. Its not the art but the methodoloy, understanding and training. With my critcisms aside glad you tried Wing Chun. As for effective I practice a different art but I've picked up some WC so a bit of it overlaps into my fighting style. From personal experience. Yes it works against the average unprofessional fighter if your trained well enough. Against a pro fighter not so much unless you are a pro yourself which I am not.

    • @nihongochopsocky808

      Agreed I mean he didn't even grasp the fundamentals.I mean that is straight up not the way to test any martial art.

    • @gnos1s171

      I mean, yeah it's not enough to beat a pro fighter but I don't think that Was the point of this, I don't remember that being the goal at all, I think what shows is that they were able to teach someone these techniques And showed that as long as you pressure test it, which they did do with gloves and headgear, You can use it against a dynamic resisting opponent, I don't see how you can say that wouldn't make it effective for fighting. 🤨 I mean, if you tried boxing for 7 days with good practice on learning the techniques and pressure testing and sparring, you would learn some adequate fighting skills.

  • @UAEKUNGFUACADEMY

    Wing Chun assume that your opponent will keep his arms extended after punching. So that you can apply Bong Sao, Gaun Sao,... Etc.. Bad luck, your opponent will not do. As a result, in actual fighting you are not a able to apply wing Chun techniques, or hardly you may be able to apply straight punch or front kick. 95% of Wing Chun techniques are not applicable. But wing Chun training specially chi Sao is very nice just to cultivate qi power.

      Almost all fights start standing up, and it's harder than you think to take someone who can effectively strike and control their range to the ground. That being said, ground sparring is part of the training at our school, though it didn't feature in Laurie's training.

    • @stevespacek8893

      I remember doing ground training at that very same school. Was very interesting and informative, in that many of the stand up techniques could be used whilst on the floor- wether on ur back or even side. More or less looked not too dissimilar to wrestling- especially the arm traps n blocks. Had the best time at the school and made friends that I still have to this day and even sometimes grab a cheeky roll(spar) with;))

    • @zman4116

      90% of fights do not end up on the ground, just ask a few bouncers. A lot of fights can be finished in seconds, I know because I’ve done it.
      And lastly, no there is no video because either the fight didn’t last long enough or it was an actual street fight and nobody walks around announcing a street fight, they just happen.
      And Wing Chun absolutely works on the street.

    • @M_K-Bomb

      @@christopherwarner6590 I have heard of Wing Chun having an internal element that can be explored. But, even then, I didn't think a lot of the Wing Chun schools knew they were doing internal stuff. They just thought it was dropping the shoulder which created a looser strike, stuff like that.
      That's what I have gotten from looking in on it. But, good to hear that more Wing Chun schools are aware of what their doing.
