    Can't get over how badly the clothing styles worn by the Americans have aged. The baggy suit jacket and jeans really show the age of the clip. They were the latest fashions back then. Surprised how short the Soviet personnel were too...

      Go back to Russia commie scum..wow Germany really went downhill..let's hope the Germans become more independent and stops the west occupation of Germany..the difference between the east German army and the German army in ww2 is insane..the soldiers look strong and professional in ww2 Germany and the ones in east Berlin look sloppy and drunk..it's soo sad lol. 1993 hiw was their still USSR soldiers still in Germany? I thought the soviets were finished by then?

      Baggy clothes are still stylish today. Shoes which were popular from 90s are sold again today too. Except the golden neckchain, that aged poorly.

    It's unfortunate the former Soviet military couldn't remain unified under the Commonwealth of Independent States. The world might've been more stable today if that were the case.

    Странное для меня видео, хотя в 1992 году военным в Берлине уже было не до того. Подумаешь, иностранцы снимают на видео КПП (контрольно-пропускной пункт) воинской части! Все готовились к скорой отправке назад в Союз. И надо было успеть купить джинсы, видеомагнитофоны и прочее. А офицерам - машины. Я был в Берлине (жил в Карлсхорсте) в 1975-1977 годах. Тогда о таких съёмках не могло быть и речи! Интересно, сейчас эти бывшие солдатики ЗГВ (Западной группы войск) ненавидят американцев или таки нет?
    Eng: A strange video for me, although in 1992 the military in Berlin had other things on their minds. Big deal, foreigners filming a КПП - checkpoint of a military unit! Everyone was getting ready to be sent back to the Union soon. And they had to have time to buy jeans, VCRs, etc. And the officers - cars. I was in Berlin (lived in Karlshorst) in 1975-1977. Back then, such filming was out of the question! I wonder if these former soldiers of the Western Group of Forces (ЗГВ) hate the Americans now or not?

      @news_internationale2035 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@martinbitter4162 The Soviet Army technically existed until 1994ish.
      Double headed eagle didn't come into use until after the 1993 October Constitutional Crisis.
      Before then Russia still had a Soviet based constitution as well as a Soviet national emblem.
      Complete new uniforms would not be introduced until 1995.
      The only significant changes before 1995 was a sleeve patch with the Russian tricolour flag with Россия above it, in the case of the Navy, the blue crossed jack.
      ВС(VS), meaning Armed Forces was introduced on shoulder insignia on some uniforms already to replace the СА(SA), meaning Soviet Army. Though this styling had already been in planning in USSR times.
      I don't think the Soviet style uniforms were phased out until 2002. And still they are used by military schools as well as insignia being used by Donetsk and Lugansk forces.

    I’m confused- didn’t East & West Berlin cease to exist at the end of 1989, and then East & West Germany the year after?
    * Still a very cool video. I remember going thru Checkpoint Charlie as a kid to visit East Berlin- in 1986 and again in 1988

      At the end of 1989, the borders between East and West Germany and East and West Berlin were opened, but they remained separate countries until German Unity Day on October 3, 1990. American, British, French, and Russian troops remained in the city until 1994.
