I was excited for this deck, & mybwife agreed to buy it for me for Christmas. I love the idea of all the win cons in 1 deck. I've got about $400 worth of add ins to modify this deck. I'm adding tutors, & cards to double counters/tokens, & a bunch more to really synergize this deck. It may no longer be a 20 ways to win, but it'll be more than 10 for sure.
Nice video! Solid ideas. Just a heads-up though, I think this is actually the 5th secret lair precon. There was the coin-flip deck, cats and dog deck, MDFC deck, and an angels deck.
I wish you both shared your improved lists! I loved red shirts concepts around skeletons for two or 3 decks. . Future answer: I bought it. And honoestly, just because the individual cards are worth more than the decklist with no special art, so it is a savings technically. But you guys hit the nail on the head for it not being consistent out of the box. Im breaking it down like your brother suggested for 3 decks.
I bought it and I watched dudes that magic's vid on this they went a different route, i really like how you guys leaned into the shrines that being said with all the 1/1 creation why remove the yahenni pariah combo? I for one love Yahenni and may keep him, but both obviously more experienced magic players cut him, why is that? i'm new to the game it's my first year. Is it to free up space for all the new cards? I dunno may have a sweet spot for him, i get this isn't an arisocratic deck but like he was saying u can always add pariah back w Go shintai but it isn't worth it mana trade off wise, but to me wouldnt be worth it if u had yahenni on board pariah in grave and need to buy time? idk extremely situational and as i've typed more about it i see why people cut the combo. literally could just include walking balista and some other unobjectively good card like esper sentinel or authority of consuls I suppose.
@kobegrumbein5681 Cuts and adds are always subjective based on your preferred play style. Joseph, in this instance, leaned more into supporting the win cons utilizing life and counters but you can absolutely go the other direction for creatures and "rectangle theory" to win more with Halo Fountain, Liliana's Contract, or Biovisionary. -Jon
@@MTGThoughtcast i think i might cut Lilliana's contract n it's support add walking ballista Angel of Destiny and millennium calendar like you were talking about Jon, maybe authority of consuls. I'm so determined to make this wacky deck work!
@@MTGThoughtcast just pulled off a combo using auriok champion basking broodscale but not the typical way lol i put in a bunch of auriok champion loop cards and accidentally looped it with heliod lol instead of archangel of thrune or one of the untap when u heal cards just applied the counters on broodscale n it was basically infinite 0/1s that tap for colorless and infiinite counters w heliod! plus infinite heals so it was pretty bad ass to say the least, I only started playing mtg earlier this year
Too much hate for what is a fun goofy homebrew alt win deck that woulda cost double the price ordering the singles online. The only real issue is lack of Rhystic, Tithe, Esper, or Tutors. They knew they were being stingy not giving us at least one.
@@CourtJesterCowboy but see, it's not a goofy home brew, it's an official product, and not a cheap one! If they can give us $40 precons like Bloomburrow's four, they know how to juice these up and missed the mark! -Joseph
@@MTGThoughtcast It's literally just Daniel Holt's passion project on Secret Lair for fun? He was very open about it... They can't give us $250 worth of cards for $40.
