Personally Ithink it is videos like this that try to portray Ronnie in a bad light that is the problem!! Ronnie is a human Being and feels emotion just like anyone else. Just because he is in the spotlight shouldn't stop him from being able to speak his mind!! Media outlets need to get off their high horse and stop holding people to double standards!! There is no one in this world that is perfect!!
Don't forget that he is REQUIRED to do interviews as part of his contract. Despite the fact that he: 1. Doesn't enjoy being interviewed (most of the time) 2. He isn't very good at it. Some people are good on camera being asked questions, Ronnie isn't.
Ronnie is the only reason why snooker is so popular today, be grateful not critical, he has given the masses so much enjoyment over the years, his genius will always be synonymous with snooker, unlike so many others.
His unpredictability is part of the attraction. It's why I've gone to see him play live several times and was there in the crowd when he made that deliberate 146 in Cardiff by potting one pink instead of black in protest at 12k being the high break prize. Is that arrogant and obnoxious? Definitely, but it's up to him what he does out there. You can walk into any arena anywhere that snooker is being played and you know when Ronnies due on because that section of the arena fills up ten fold to the next table and players. He draws the crowds and keeps people interested. He isnt the problem, he's the solution to a problem of dwindling numbers of spectators. Take him out of an event, the gate revenue will be significantly less and prize money will decrease. The real problem with Snooker isnt Ronnie O'Sullivan at the moment, it's match fixing. Thats what is causing people to turn away and not want to pay to watch a WWE like sport where the outcome of the match is predetermined. Fix that they need to cause Ronnie isnt going to be around as a player all that many more years and If it's still an issue when he hangs up his cue, the sport will go the same way as BDO Darts did and go under. Sponsored wont sponsor something corrupt, TV rights and airing tournaments will get less and less just like BBC did with BDO darts. Think back to late 90s / early 2000's BDO had one annual event on TV, the World Championships. Massive event at Lakeside but players won it and left to play in the PDC then it became a who's who if new unknown faces every year and laughable quality compared to Sky Sports PDC events. Needles to say... BDO is no more.
The constant strain of the game itself always striving for perfection can certainly lead to explosions of emotions I think this psychological tension is severely overlooked by many
With out Ronnie the snooker sport wouldn’t reach the place it reached today. It’s only because of Ronnie the Saudis will generate millions into the sport the next world championship will be in KSA the prizes will reach triple the amount the channels who will broadcast it will be way much more with the best venues in the world he sells tickets more than any player have ever existed he is simply the GOAT
