I have the R6, and I'm going to be using this with my Ninja V, now most of the recording i do is 4k 60P so i bet you i would overheat before you would, how ever sense recording to an external device (Ninja V) i think i could probably get about 2 hours of 4k 60p with out a problem maybe more..
The Canon R5C though, there is no overheating even at 8K 60p because it has a cooling fan built into it, but we shall see i will let you know what happens on one of my shoots that i will be doing the end of the month so we shall, see, i'm just getting use to this new Canon, i was using a Fuji X-T3 for over 3 years, and well i'm glad to say my Canon R6 is going to film better video hopefully..

Enjoy'd the info, thank you. Defs agree with investing into post processing equipment is just as important as the capturing equipment. I know you edit on Premier, but it's worth noting that the free version of Davinci does not support CLog3. You will need to get the Studio version. But once again, investing in post procesing is equally as important.

To anyone who's Reading this : Get a uhs-II sd card. It makes a huge difference believe me. I used to film with uhs-I cards and was getting around 40 min in 4K 24. Now that i bought a uhs-II card (V90), i tested it with the R6 and was truly shocked with the results. I got around 1h30min of 4K 30fps recording before shutting down from overheating. Obviously i had my batteries charged and once a battery die
i immediately replace it with another. Also whenever the 30mn limit stops the recording i immediately hit record again. I did this till the camera shutted down at around 1h30. Hope it will help someone who's also struggling with his R6

Very interesting. I never thought the SD card as avariable. I've only primarily used uhs-ii cards. It's never occured to me that a slower card could produce more heat which would make the camera overheat quicker. In theory that makes sense.

Interesting! How was the room temperature when you achieved this kind of recording length? 4k/60 stills overheats on me after about 22mins. But yeah, 4k/24 can last quite a long time by now. Edit: Thanks for giving the info about it :) Now I have to adjust for Celsius ;)

Ditto to your point about having a high end editing computer to go with high end cameras. A well equipped and well tuned editing computer will save people soooooooo much time and money and headache in the long run. TBH the R6 footage, the H.265 codec, is super intensive to edit, I'm currently rockin an AMD system with the 5900X, 64GB RAM, and RTX 3800, it chews through the R6 4K footage like its ProRes.
