- The non-descript Khandra village in Haryana's Panipat district erupted into celebrations when the news flashed that its talented son, Subedar Neeraj Chopra, VSM, had become the first Indian track and field athlete to win a medal (that too a gold) at the Olympics since the time India officially gained entry into the Games in 1928.

Why is nobody talking about the Mission Olympics started by Indian Army in 2018 with support of Sports Ministry ?
Bring all the Coaches of these Medal Winners in the lime light & attach them to a Sporting facility with modern infra at the National level. Extend & develop any of the Stadiums to make such an infra. Maybe even 2 or 3 Stadiums for different sports. Stadiums lie vacant most of the time

I commend his parents that they took the right step in improving his Physical Abilities when he was a Child unlike other most Indian Parents who don't give a damn on basic fitness.
That's the specialty of Haryanvi Parents.......Physical Fitness is a must for them. Haryana is the only state apart from North East which Brings more Olympic Medals........other states needs to follow the same path or do something like Naveen PatnaikJi
So basically... He went to stadium.. Tried different sports and choose what is he best in..... You know what... In every school this should be mandatory... Every individual must try all the sports and pick one for his school life till 12th...especially in govt schools.... Otherwise nobody will know what is his best potential until he explore....
Edit : Every student must hold one sport as mandatory rule ( all pvt and govt school).. And give the liberty to let student choose what he likes from the available infrastructure his/her school has... But student cant choose none... He has toh participate atleast in one sport....saying that it doesn't mean u have to win medals.... U can just enjoy ur favourite sport and later continue whatever u want... But every student must get a chance to explore himself/herself.... Thats the only way we can find hidden gems.. Just imagine... If neeraj would a shy guy and never ask to let him explore in stadium...

Nope.. not all parents let that happen and think throwing an object into air doesn't equate to higher IQ.. and feel their kid is dumb and would fail if he doesn't get a medical , engineering or even a financial degree

After this historic win in the olympics, I feel people should take sports like javelin,archery and weightlifting more seriously and should get rid of cricket (it's extremely overrated atleast in India). The government should make more opportunities for these faces those who have represented the country in the Olympics. The government should look after them! They deserve a lot more recognition and opportunities.

Only football has the power to move cricket away from it's top spot. Quite unlikely, but with reliance group indirectly leading Indian football, there could be a hope.
Government should provide gym and stadium at village level also all the players who won the medal are from villages especially the athletes of Haryana .
Each State needs something like 'Mission Olympics' that was started by Indian Army in 2018. Then India needs a massive infrastructure for Sports training at national level of all athletes. 2 or 3 larger Stadiums can be extended & developed for this .
+ Govt shld give each medal winner fully funded scholarship to study free for 5 yrs in an Institution of their choice. That will better their life forever as well as their next generation. + They shld be given compensation by both Centre & State & a small house in a city. Also a job / promotion in current job

People might not realize this...but in 50-60years , our kids will be telling our grandkids how the names like Bhavani devi in fencing, Neeraj Chopra in Javelin throw,Aditi ashok in Golf, and ofcourse our beloved hockey, badminton, and numerous other sports were the pioneer of India's success back in 2021.
The golden era has started and we shall not look back from here...Gold for all in 2024 Paris.
