Ah The Walking Dead, Back when Zombies were the real threat instead of humans.
yep, that's how the zombie apocalypse would unfold. in the beginning zombies are new and scary but they are also predictable, more like a force of nature. as the years go by the survivors adapt to killing them. They learn to be cautious, but killing them becomes second nature. Humans on the other hand are unpredictable. They have all gone through terrible phycological trauma, malnourished and living in not the best sanitary conditions (easy for us in our air conditioned homes sitting on comfy couches using indoor plumbing, to criticize their decisions). If you run into another group of survivors, you don't know if they are a threat, or they think you are a threat; out to steal their precious resources. Best case scenario, even if they trust you, you are still just one more mouth to feed. Or a zombie waiting to happen so how about they just shoot you in the head now and be done with it. Every option is bad news.
I say this because it sounds like you're criticizing the walking dead just for showing this, when what you're really criticizing is the zombie apocalypse itself. Most zombie movie just deal with the beginning, not enough time to show more in two hours. And if that's your preference, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. But the walking dead is what, 10 or 12 years after the apocalypse now? it's in a whole different stage of it, and humans would absolutely be the bigger threat.

If zombies were the only threat/obstacle it would get boring pretty fast for a tv show. "around this corner, a zombie! on no! down the street more zombies!" that works fine for a two hour movie which just shows the "honeymoon phase" of the zombie apocalypse, the beginning of it. But for a tv show where much more time is passing it needs to show how the new world would unfold. I find zombies genuinely scary and wouldn't want to be bored by them. So I'm not sure where you're coming from when you say "Just humans the whole time....." Zombies are always a threat through every season but they do take a backseat to the conflicts between humans survivors which are far more unpredictable for all the reasons i said in my first post. Think of zombies like waves of the tide, always there but sometimes rise up (when they have great numbers) to become a serious threat again. I have always loved zombies growing up but assumed any humans who meet would just automatically be buddies. The walking dead showed me that i was being naïve, probably because all we had was zombie movies, nothing showing the unfolding of time. That would be the case in the first days but after a while you suffer trauma and hardship with the first people you meet and they become your "family". When you meet another "family" you don't know their intentions (again, for the reasons listed above). Let's face it, humans are not all good, far from it. Many would quickly revert to savagery. If they've had family die horrible and had to watch it, they might look at you and think "why do you get to live and my child was ripped to pieces?" As i said in my first post, at best you're just another mouth to feed.
But this is just my take on it. if it's not your cup of tea, move on to something that is. Black Summer is okay. Z nation I think is dumb but it has it's moments. "kingdom", the Korean historical zombie show is not to bad either. if you just like the "honeymoon phase", lots of zombie movies will scratch that itch. Peace brother.

@@Nyghtgirl27 i would say no, i think the real story are the conflicts between the groups of survivors, the unpredictability of traumatized humans and the various systems of government they try to retain order with. All set against the backdrop of a ruined world filled with the hungry dead. That is what i find interesting, the evolution of this new world. I like it when they show things like horses pulling hollowed out cars, or when they broke into a museum to grab a plow for harvesting crops. Or Aaron training everyone with shields and spears, as guns and ammo become more scarce. Humans are defiantly adaptable, we always have been in all of our history. I guess that's how I see the walking dead, history unfolding in an alternate reality.
But as i told xenodude, that's just my opinion, if it doesn't groove with you, there are lots of other media out there to choose from! Peace sister.

They were bitten and wanted their last meal to be disgusting hospital food xD
They probably put all the dead bodies in there once the morgue got full. Ooorrr... the cafe was full when someone turned inside and killed everyone???

This is helpful. I am afraid of zombies. More so than other scary things. The black & white version of the original Night of the Living Dead is more than I can handle. I can use this to sort of face my fear.

I use these sounds for ambiance when I’m trying to shift. But yes, unfortunately these are the sounds that calm me. I would rather listen to zombies, then face the people that make zombies look kind.
