    Wow, that was a great adventure for the whole group that traveled to Chicken Alaska and the Gold Fever Prospecting camp on the Fortymile River. Thanks for watching all of the videos in this series. Hopefully, you will get to experience the great hospitality that Ginger, Mat and the boys offer. I really appreciate your comments, LIKES and if you subscribe. This year will also provide great adventures in Indiana, Illinois, California and more. I also have some great giveaways planned including a trip to one of my hot spots, where we will dredge, camp,eat steaks, etc... and shoot a great video. If you have any questions, please let me know.

      Midwest Dave's Gold Prospecting, I live in Chicago and I’ll be heading out to Indiana to do a little prospecting with my dad. We’re just getting into it and learning. Any tips to help us out?

    • @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting

      One of the best ways to learn it is join a local club. If you search Facebook on Indiana Gold Prospecting, there are several clubs that have events going on almost weekly. Morgan Monroe State Forest is a public park, where you go to the Ranger station to obtain a free permit. Then, you can hike all of the creeks and feeder creeks that still have a lot of gold. You will find gold there every time you go.

      Hey Cale, forgot to mention that Lake Michigan beaches also have gold. I remember Tom Massie had an episode of Gold Fever, where he found gold right off of Lake Shore Drive: www.goldprospectors.org/Learn/Video/VideoId/346/UseHtml5/True
      There are also a lot of video on Lake Superior beaches where they do the same.

      Midwest Dave's Gold Prospecting, I thought the DNR regulations prohibit prospecting on Lake Michigan?

    • @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting
      @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Cale, I assume Illinois is like Indiana was about 15 years ago, when several prospectors were arrested in absence of laws. In that case, the Conservation officers used their own opinions to make a decision to arrest people. As a result of those arrests and a lot of lobbying, Indian came up with very friendly laws for us prospectors. I have submitted a Survey to the Illinois DNR to see what regulation exist or don't exist in Illinois. Once I get an answer, I will let you know. I will say there is decent gold in Illinois if you know where to go :) Thanks again for watching.

    Tap the edge of the pan rapidly on your off hand against the riffles. Pulls the black sand back and the gold literally jumps to the edge of the pan. Makes it much faster to pan cons out, and snuffer the majority of the gold.

    This video caught my eye because it reminded me of my best day of dredging up here in Alaska.
    Years ago, after years of research and effort, I finally located an area the old bucket line dredges missed. It was in a tight corner of the valley where I assume the BL dredge couldn’t get to.
    So, I dropped my 6” in and It started to pay off right away with daily cleanups around .25 ozt. And it quickly improved to the .5-1.5 ozt range.
    Then, magic happened. After a long day of dredging and shoveling tailings (I don’t like splitting my gold so I work alone) I turned off the engines, walked around to take a peek at the sluice… and right there was a 3ozt nugget staring me in the face. I don’t think my feet touched the ground the rest of the day.
    It ended up being a 5.45 ozt day. My best day ever.
    I go back to that spot every summer and I still do very well. But I’m still looking to break my 3ozt nugget record. And I know if I keep working that spot, I’ll find it!! At least that’s what I tell myself every day to convince me to jump back into that freezing water.
    🤣🤣🤣

      Must have been an incredible day to find that much gold. Places like that must be hard to find and very remote. 40 mile is pretty remote to me, being from Cornfield,USA. The 40 Mile replenishes Paystreaks based on what I have heard. Good Luck out there and God Bless !

      @@MidwestDavesGoldProspecting It was definitely difficult to find but not remote at all. I can park the truck within 100 feet of the site. I’ve always wondered how many prospectors have walked right past that spot.

    If you dredge for along time you need to check the jetlog were it connects it will catch gold before it gets in the box. I ran a 4 inch Keene for 2 months strait and when we were packing up the jet log was jammed in with sand i was fighting to disconnect it and watching the sand fall out under water than the sun hit the sparkly sand. I put my hand out and it filled with 100% fine gold foils I probably lost 10 ounces that way. I found that the steeper the down angle on the jet log the more gold we would catch in it we also leave the jetlog pushed in 6 to 8 inches makes a back eddy were it connects to the box. I had 1 friend find a 2 ounce nugget in the jetlog when he was packing up. Another friend found a 3 ounce nugget in the hose he could hear something rattling when packing the hose up and plop out comes a monster nuggy. Nice job dredging I assume this is in Chicken>>the land of superfine gold.

      Good luck 2 u 2:) I dredged Bird creek in Petersville, Alaska. I lost more nuggets down in the bedrock than i found:( I moved on to an excavator with ac lol. I do miss the dredge its another world underwater. 1 year i had a pet trout so tame and i could call him by tapping the water and i would scoop him up in my gold pan and pet him daily. He luved the sluice box and he would wait next to my dive mask for worms i found in the gravels by the end of the season I had a school of 100+ trout under the sluice but only 1 next to me. I never chased them other guys on the crew would and they knew it and they would only get close to me:) I miss my pets :0 I wonder if pike are as friendly?@@MidwestDavesGoldProspecting

    I don't know about that "water detection" machines, but I have been in the mineral and water detection business for about 30 years now and so far I have tested a lot of machines, only to find they did not work and the money spent went down the drain. My water Dowsing is a hundred% accurate and I do it from a photograph off of Google earth images. Of course I find other things also, like precious-metals, graves, crude-oil. I can scan five to ten square miles from a Google Earth image in about a day and mark the water or mineral locations, large and small. I also discriminate the type of element, for example I can tell any one of the six platinum group metals apart from one another. And I can detect all of the stable elements on the chart of elements. I have done over 300 blind tests to this affect. I am not at all limited on depth detection. I did an oil deposit that was 6800 feet deep. Many of my blind teste were private people giving me permission to scan their houses and marking where their values were.

    • @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting
      @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. Old fashioned prospecting and the use of Metal detectors are the way to go. Then, the dredge ultimately tells you waht is there.

I am just getting some information. If you can answer my questions that well be very helpful THANK YOU

    • @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting
      @MidwestDavesGoldProspecting  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I assume Alaska is like everywhere else there is gold. If you get in a spot that was not hit by dredges, you can find pounds of gold. If you go where a dredge just worked, you may find partial grams. In the case of my video, I was on the FortyMile to drege. In this case, the river floods every Spring and new gold gets deposited every year from the banks. If you got on a good paystreak like we did, we found over a half ounce per day. This amount was per dredge.... 2 people. If you seek out a remote spot, I assume you can find a lot more than we did.
