That lenticular cloud over Rainier is so ominous. What a 1st day, holy moly! A bouncy bridge, then the 🐻 afterwards! Mountain winds are cleansing for sure. Your footage is stunning. ✌️
Great Job Stella. You really knocked out those miles. And what scenery, everything was so beautiful. And you do a great job capturing the trail. Be careful with the bears, you never know what they are going to do. Can't wait to watch the rest of your trip. Be Strong, Be Safe, and thanks for taking us on this Journey.
That snow under the ice is a receding glacier. Love that hike. That was a long day for Mt Rainer. Black bears are common there an used to sharing the trail with people
Thanks, great Hike & sceneries….. interestingly, we always have Bear Spray on our paks: interestingly, we forgot the Spray once on “ Flesher Pass , MT(“ day hike & ran across fresh scat; a quick(🏃♂️😅), return to Trailhead..
That trail truly is Wondrous! Big mountains, full forests, and bears! I'll bet you were very tired! huge day. I chuckled just a bit when you were talking about your insoles wearing out because I can't imagine any of your footwear lasting hardly at all with those forever miles.
Great hike. I'm happy you took the Spray Park Trail. If you lookup the original 1921 map of the Wonderland Trail. That is the original route it took. At some point they rerouted the trail farther away from the mountain.. Probably because that part of the trail was so popular, and they wanted to reduce the amount of users. Which was good for the park, but bad for hikers who miss out on the best views of the trail.
Absolutely amazing, my friend. I had a chance to live in the evergreen, beautiful state for over a year and got to experience a lot of the naturally amazing places it offers. I am really happy that I came across your video and got to experience a part of Washington State again. Thank you and wishing you all the best on your journeys. :)
This is so beautiful! How do you track your mileage? Do you use the far out map and have a daily log? Love watching your videos to see different trails.
Started following when you were in GNP & thank you for your fabulous content! I am so excited to see this trail because it is on my "bucket list". Thank you so much & keep hiking on!
I hiked it counter clockwise and it was awesome, but I don’t know enough about going clockwise so I’m not much help in that regard! And thanks :) I’m sure you’ll have a great time!
Good question! There is actually an app called Far Out that I use that gives me my gps location and shows me the trail and provides all the info I need :)
Hi Stella; lucky you to have a friendly bear encounter; there are massive black bears in rainier and on the AT, I imagine. I had a friendly bear encounter in the enchanted valley. I sat down and took a break and the bear liked me and took a nap 30 feet from me and then the bear was interrupted by some other hikers and then returned to eating peacefully. I read the animals when I have encounters; if a bear squares up on you it means business. I had a bear square up on me , but after it saw I was not a threat it went back to it's nap. I have videos of these on my channel. I do not think you should try to scare a bear, I enjoy that nature is actually quite peaceful and the animals are having a relaxed life. God bless you . th-cam.com/video/I0TGSaGvBGA/w-d-xo.html, here is the friendly bear video, good times.
You have all the qualities of a hiker which I don't posses. I've noticed you have foot issues. My feet are basically the only thing I don't have issues with after 10,000 plus miles of hiking. We also seem to have similar feet, although I have a pretty high arch. I believe you mentioned yours collapsed. Anyway, maybe in the hiking off season give Vibram Five Fingers a try. Your feet and body are designed by millions of years of evolution to walk many miles without shoes. It's one of the things we as humans are really good at. We, as bipeds, can out-walk pretty much any other creature which walks on four legs. It was only about six hundred years ago which we came up with the idea of shoes, which was more of a fashion accessory, than a functional piece of apparel. Anyway, it may be that your shoes and many layers of socks are the cause of your foot pain.

Great shots of Winthrop and Carbon Glaciers. Some of the best I’ve seen to be honest.
