One of her most ICONIC albums. Fun fact: The producer of this album, Stuart Price also produced Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia. In the song I Love New York, she is praising the city where she began with her musical career back in the 1980s.
He co-produced 3 tracks out of 11. If you want some good Stuart Price produced albums you should listen to Kylie- Aphrodite, Take That- Progress or the Killers- Day & Age 👍

This is one of her best albums with Ray of light MASTERPIECES BOTH. Fun fact: Madonna sampled a ABBA song for Hung up that’s why it sound familiar lol 😂
Also, this whole album is centered on 70s disco and 80s electro sounds. She said she wanted to make music that she herself would dance to, which happens to be this album
I recommend ray of light from Madonna because it's definitely soooo different to her other albums and I think you'd enjoy it, it's very ethereal and alternative
You should do one Madonna album for each decade 80s - Like a Prayer 90s - Ray of Light 2000s - confessions (✔️) 2010s - Rebel heart This way you can experience Madonna in completely different eras, plus these are 4 of her best albums
As someone who’s heard all of Madonna’s albums but isn’t a “stan” I think I can give an unbiased recommendation: If you’re willing to give another one of her albums a chance I would suggest Ray of Light! It’s very adventurous and the songs do not blend together. It’s considered her best album. it’s bound to hold your attention if nothing else. :) it’s possibly unlike anything you’ve heard before and it may surprise you in a lot of ways! All 4 of her 80s albums are also fantastic, but if you don’t like the 80s pop sound, it might just not work for you. Btw, I feel similarly to you about Confessions. Ray of Light is WILDLY different in just about every way
This album was an homage to her late 70's early 80's nyc days dancing at the disco as an aspiring dancer. The album was supposed to run as one long record with no stops. You should REALLY watch her videos for this era but also REALLY watch the Confessions Tour. I mean...MASTERPIECE! "Was she getting a lot of hate at the time?" Girl! When hasn't she?! Like it or not is one of her ultimate anthems about who she is. People hate her for no reason but she's still on top and still keeps going.
I love the buildup in Get Together. When it finally reaches its apex and explodes, I get this ecstatic electrostatic rush and visualize metallic-crystalline sparks cascading down all around. I kind of-sort of have a form of synesthesia and certain sounds create consistent visuals in my mind's eye that affect me viscerally. That moment of that song always gives me a thrill.
Madonna is an artist that uses music as a template to explore her interests in art and philanthropy.. there's usually a duality to her work, the surface is generally pop but the themes/inspiration are generally deep, especially the accompanying visuals

I NEED a rebel heart deluxe reactionnn. everyone hates on it simply because she employed trendy sounds and lots of writers, but IMO it's her best, her vocals are veryyyy clear sounding and not distorted which is gorgeous. she really expiremented but in an oh so amazing 2015 way, BOP after bop with great lyrics too
Get together and Forbidden love are my favourite from the album. Get together has grooving, pulsating beat. Forbidden love is melodic beautiful dance track with symbolic lyrics.
If you get a chance, listen to the CD version of this album, each song mixes into another and it's the best way to listen to it IMO. The 'Non-Stop Mix' used to be on streaming but it's on TH-cam now. Also later down the line you should react to the Confessions Tour, as these songs were brought to life in the best way!
I worked in a music shop as a teenager and when the CD first came out I put it on in the shop and it blew my mind when every song would masterfully blend into the next.
That piano riff in the beginning of Hung Up is from ABBA’s Gimme Gimme Gimme! They are also pop masters so it’s no surprise that Madonna, The Queen of Pop, is giving a nod. Great video!

Fun fact: Get Together's main melody may be familiar to you, cause it was sampled in Britney Spears' "Trouble" from the deluxe version of Circus, which you've heard😊
Hum not to be annoying but pretty sure there’s no confirmation at all of a sample from “Get Together” in “Trouble”? There are no credits to it at all, not even on whosampled website, they just have similar melodies but it doesn’t have a sample. I always thought they’re similar and I even made a mashup once but there are no official comments or credits on this so… not real, unfortunately.
@@oi_milk when I said sampled, I didn't look up if the melody was legally sampled or taken. I just used that word for the exact melody's usage in the other song
I wish someone told you it was a non stop album so there’s a version where each song goes into the other. Also when she began writing this album, she was writing a play but it turned out to be writing sessions for an album naturally Isaac is a personal fav for me on the album and Get Together. Tbh Madonna is so much more than her hits. She has a very vast variety in her catalog so regardless you can definitely find a personal fav album from her. She has literally done it all. But still in a Madonna fashion. 💖 My top 5 albums from Madonna are 1. Ray of light 2. American Life 3. Confessions On A Dance Floor 4. Madame X 5. Rebel Heart
I think that my favourite song from this album is "Future Lovers" and is the only song on the album that was produced and written with Mirwais Ahmadzai, the genius behind the albums Music, American Life and Madame X!! The live version mashed together with "I Feel Love" is dance music perfection!!
Hey, Beth! Just discovered your channel and as a long time Madonna fan I will give you my top 5 albums as a suggestion for you to react. (I hope you do ❤) 1) Erotica, 1992 (Madonna’s most controversial album, it will be its 30th anniversary on the next 20th October) 2) Ray of Light, 1998 (Madonna’s most awarded album) 3) Like a Prayer, 1989 (Madonna’s most acclaimed album) 4) Confession (you’ve done it 😊) 5) Music
It feels so DAMN GOOD to watch Beth discovering Hung Up in 2022 and enjoying it! So refreshing! I just went back in time in 2005 when I was 17 to the day this song was released. Such good vibes! Thanks bb!
In the song Let Will It Be she's singing about how she's willing to let her fame and popularity go wherever they go even if they go down and away because she knows as she sang that "it won't last long. The lights they will come down."
Trance is a genre of electronic music, and I'd classify this album's styles as primarily trance and house influenced electronic pop. There are some disco elements, as well, for sure, but Hung Up is the most disco to my ears, and it should be since it's build on an ABBA instrumental. For authentic trance music, look up Childen by Robert Myles and Dreaming by BT (Brian Transeau). Trance is my favorite subgenre of electronic music, and some of the producers in the 90s were sophisticated musicians who approached electronic music like it was classical music. When Madonna released Ray of Light, I was bothered by a lot of the reviews in which many critics wrote that she had done the impossible by making electronic music warm and emotional instead of cold. A lot of trance music affects me emotionally; it can really pick you up and carry you along on an emotional rollercoaster even without any vocals at all.
One of the reasons you might have found things sound the same is because on the physical CD of this album all of the songs transition into each other so there’s normally an element or chord progression that Carrie’s through song to song
If you like the humming on Isaac then you will love the Ray of Light album. Full of absolutely beautiful hummms lol 😂 Isaac really grew on me but I think it’s beautiful. Get Together is my “Calgon “ it takes me away. You’re probably too young to get that 😂 It’s atmospheric and gives me chills it’s so good. I could listen to it on repeat lol.
I'm so happy you gave Madonna a shot and had a great time! This one it's very weak on lyrics, but the production is next level for me. Some recommendations below, but of course, only if you are interested! Please keep on having fun while making these videos, they're always a joy to watch -- (I support the idea of the club lights on the room!) As some people commented, Ray of Light might be a good option if you choose to listen to another of her albums (it's my favorite -- but it's just as crazy on the production, so it's reflecting while bopping lol). On Ray of Light she had just had her first child, so there's lyrics about becoming a mother, finding religion and how her fame interferes on her personal time. But my true recommendation is American Life, the album before Confessions. It's also lyrics-focused and there's some ballads mixed in as well. Lyrics about her disappointment on George W. Bush government, criticism about consumerism, trauma about losing her mother as a child and how this reflects on her relationship with her own children. It's a different look from what we usually think about "Madonna the popstar".
it may seem small but it really means a lot to me that you specified "only if you are interested" thank you so much for being considerate in that way ❤ and that's very helpful info!!
@oifogs As a #1 Madonna fan lol. American Life is my personal fav. The imagery and production of the album all amazing. However and I might be mistaken but the album is not political in its music…at all. The “Disappointed in G.W. Government “??? Yes the video is politically driven and the album artwork but take that away and the album is not political! Just food for thought!
I was watching this reaction again and I love how throughout the reaction you’re like “??????” And “!!!!!!!” And that sums up how I reacted to it at first. It’s a fave of mine now
YESS YOURE GETTING INTO M !! thanks sm for considering listening to madge, she’s really one of my favorites. i’m sorry that confessions wasn’t an automatic grab, i know it’s lyrics are very repetitive. it’s VERY electronic, big, and disco-oriented. it really is such a genius album when you hear the context and how she really only worked with one producer in an apartment to make this album, according to the podcast on hung up. I think you would more-a-so like something more like Ray of Light (which i see getting reccomended by a lot of other ppl (for a reason def !!!)) madonna is really a genius and NO album sounds the same. each era is intricate. her earlier albums you will definitely like better. personal topster (not counting confessions): 1. Ray of Light 2. Like a Prayer 3. Bedtime stories 4. Erotica 5. Music 6. Self-titled I really hope you get to see more of her music mastery some day !! 🤍🤍
The reason why some of the intros sound similar probably has to do with the fact that, for the physical versions of this album, the songs are all mixed into each other. Like there's not a second of silence in between the tracks, but they all flow into one another. And yeah, she did get a lot of hate during this time. Her previous album, American Life, was not received well. It was her most political work to date and was quite critical of the Bush administration that was during that time. Also, she started to talk with a British accent in between these two eras and people thought she was pretentious for that reason.
Happy you liked it ! But 'Isaac' ??? It's a masterpiece in my opinion. The language at the beginning is hebrew. The vocalist Yitzhak ( Isaac is him ) Sinwani sings a portion of the Yéménite hebrew poem 'Im Nin'alu' )
One of her most ICONIC albums. Fun fact: The producer of this album, Stuart Price also produced Dua Lipa's Future Nostalgia. In the song I Love New York, she is praising the city where she began with her musical career back in the 1980s.

As some people commented, Ray of Light might be a good option if you choose to listen to another of her albums (it's my favorite -- but it's just as crazy on the production, so it's reflecting while bopping lol).
The Queen of Pop! Respect. 👑
Love the video so much. I highly recommend you do an Allie X discography journey. You’re going to love it 😊

I was watching this reaction again and I love how throughout the reaction you’re like “??????” And “!!!!!!!” And that sums up how I reacted to it at first. It’s a fave of mine now
hahaha ♥️
More Madonna please 🎉
Madonna's album "Music" is perfection along with "Ray of Light."
Confessions= Perfection❤❤❤
I think you would more-a-so like something more like Ray of Light (which i see getting reccomended by a lot of other ppl (for a reason def !!!))
madonna is really a genius and NO album sounds the same. each era is intricate. her earlier albums you will definitely like better.
personal topster (not counting confessions):
1. Ray of Light
2. Like a Prayer
3. Bedtime stories
4. Erotica
5. Music
6. Self-titled
I really hope you get to see more of her music mastery some day !! 🤍🤍
Never Heard Madonna, I Will Buy this cd
My favorite album from her next to Ray of Light
You are amazing. Thank you🙏🙏 only respect for the Queen. ❤
The Hung Up instrumental is a from ABBA ❤
Thank you ❤💚💜💙💛 Love this reaction. You should do more Madonna please.
Madonna did an awesome performance of Hung Up at Coachella in 2007 I think? Worth a watch. Super fun vibe. She kicked that crowds' a$$.
