Anakin Skywalker was one of, if not the most tragic character in modern fiction. His early childhood was spent as a slave with daily beatings. After being taken away from his only family, he was told to basically forget about his mother and bottle up his emotions by people that didn't trust him, despite calling him "The Chosen One." After being unable to save his mother, due to being held back in his training by essentially pawning him off to an inexperienced Obi-Wan, Anakin was thrust into a combat and leadership role in a war without the experience and means to cope with that level of stress. Fast forward a few years. Now he's experiencing constant nightmares of his secret wife dying in childbirth, but he can't just ask for help from the Jedi Council, because he could be expelled for his secret marriage and children. After being put on the Jedi Council, which would normally be a huge honor; Anakin is denied the rank of Master. Not only is this unfair and unorthodox; it also prevents him from accessing the restricted section that could possibly give him the knowledge he needs to save Padme. After that, Anakin is manipulated by one of the only people that he truly trusts into pretty much becoming a slave all over again. His older brother figure cut off all of his natural limbs and left him for dead, only for him to be put in a life support suit designed to make him live in constant pain for the rest of his life. Add the years of depression and guilt over the death of Padme and supposedly his children. Anakin eventually ended up torturing and nearly killing them anyway.
@The Unknown Anakin is part of the Republic's exekutive. Right now it seems pretty likely that an US police officer will get away with murder without having a tragic backstory.

Lets look at the facts. the jedi were taken in and taught to think that way from birth. They were raised to think that attachment was a path to the dark side, and that the dark side itself is naturally evil (the force itself was never evil, just what the sith did with it). They were raised to defend the republic, but because of that they believed that their ideals werent flawed, since there was never anything drastic to defend against, they had no reason to question their ways, and then when they were thrown into a war they were predictable and dogmatic because they had never experienced true war, so they instinctively fell back to what they knew, and since they lived in peace for so long, they believed that was what worked and was good. And lets not forget that while the people COULD leave, why would they? They had no reason to. Their living costs were covered, as was their healthcare, and their education. And if they did leave? What would they do? Most probably didnt have any connections outside the order, and they were probably never taught how to live a normal life. So yes. While i agree with you that the jedi order itself is an example of religious extremism, the people in it didnt know how to think any other way, the reason anakin was disillusioned was that his first nine years were outside the order. has anyone thought about the fact that obi wan and yoda might feel guilty for what happened to the jedi? i mean obi wan was the the one who discovered the clone army and yoda was the one who brought the clones to the battle of geonosis, thus integrating them into the republic/ jedi army's? They probably do. In general, while Palpatine was obviously the one who was messing with all of them, the Republic and Jedi (were they still alive) should feel guilty anyway. They fought a war against people that just wanted their freedom, sent the people that were raised on the belief they are there to keep peace to invade worlds and wage war (some of them were still children, no wonder Barris broke), were blind to the manipulations of the dark and through their firm belief in a code that was wrong to begin with, they are also largely responsible for pushing Anakin toward the dark side in the first place. Not to mention the republic used living, sentient and feeling soldiers send them into battle. Were we not constantly being told that the separatists were evil, do you really think you'd view them like that from a neutral standpoint? Palpatine orchestrated all of this, but while he gave them the right situation and judged their behaviour correctly, the blame for losing their morals and values, fighting against the very thing they claim to protect... that is entirely on the Republic and the Jedi.

I was 10 when the phantom menace came out. As a young boi, going through puberty, I understand why Gen x love the originals. Those movies taught me all the emotions. When obi saw his master die and the anger took him for a brief moment. I felt that. Knew it.

Actualy this cut makes the first trilogy better than it is by highlighting it And I am highlighting in this video that it somehow gives time for those moments while it is not crowded by any other happenings, and it is making this one sooo much touching

Videos like this always prove to me that the prequels has all the essential elements of a great trilogy. They just weren’t executed as seamlessly as they could have been.
Darth Vader is my favorite character in the series and even tho I’ve only watched the ot and pm, I know he’s going to stand the test. In the jedi returns I was literally questioning myself on how a few minutes ago I didn’t care and wondering why luke was being kind and not destroying him to now loving him and crying. Like, this is someone that destroys planets and doesn’t have the formula for like able characters. I was so surprised than anakin was so innocent. He was hurled into a situation he didn’t understand and instead of receiving much needed guidance and support, he was left alone AND Palphatine purposely manipulated him
while anakin went out in the saddest way, I feel like Plo went out the worst way. Imagine being in a starfight and just blown into a building by your own fleet.
The clone wars make me sad. War in general is sad obviously but seeing how dark it got for the galaxy and how easily it could’ve been avoided makes me chest heavy
