As for the caveman/telephone analogy, that's fine if you were applying it to science fiction, but completely irrelevant when applied to fantasy, which is what Harry Potter is. And I would hardly say that Rowling is 'amazing.' She had a good idea which proved very popular and she had a vivid imagination, but even if you accept the reality of magic, there's still much that is implausible in the plots, particularly in the areas of time travel and dimensionality. But the real point of my comment was to congratulate Amber on her guts. We all know how Potterheads tend to react when anyone challenges their beloved alternate reality.
When I think of Harry walking out of Hogwarts, past his friends, past Ginny, and into the woods to die... when I think of Lily, James, Sirius and Remus disappearing when he drops the Resurrection stone... when I think of him continuing on to face Voldemort alone... I like to believe that in that moment, he wasn't really alone. We were with Harry, every step of the way, from when he was 11 to when he was 17. Honestly, when a friend of ours sent me these books, I thought, "ok, something do do over the summer." Finished the first book the next day. Finished the series in 16 days. These books give me a laugh on a tiring or flat out bad day, and leave me grinning like an idiot walking aroud school, or stores, or my house. Luna Lovegood was completely herself. Draco Malfoy showed me not everything is as it seems. Harry Potter was still able to love and trust after 17 hard years. Hermine Granger stood for what she believed in. Ron Weasly was a good friend. Neville Longbottem lived with having to see his parents after they'd been tortured to insanity, and still loved them- that took courage. And McGonagoll was always there for the students, even when it could've meant her job or possibly even her getting sent to Azkaban by Umbridge. If anyone ever says these are "just some books and movies" or JK Rowling is "messing everything up", we might have a problem, cause I'm mean, you cant really explain all that these books mean to someone who hasn't read the series, or atleast seen the movies.
Olivia Chernutan yeah but I think mcgongall wasn’t shown as great as she was from the Harry Potter fandom. Mcgongall had a loved a muggle boy. But she realised that what happens to her parents might happen to her, her parents fought with each other a lot her mother was a with her father was a muggle. She accepted to get engaged at first but then said she changed her mind the day next. She had still loved him but seeing as she worked for the ministry they wouldn’t particularly like her. She had still loved him until he got married. She was heartbroken, also her favourite teacher was her transfiguration teacher professor Dumbledore. When she was asked if she wanted a raise she denied and asked if she could teach at Hogwarts. Dumbledore became head master there and he accepted. I think she became the transfiguration teacher and then head of Gryffindor. She had heard that her love (the muggle) had died. But she wasn’t particularly sad, yes she was a little sad but she felt whole again. A ministry worker or maybe minister of mage liked her and asked to marry her before every week. She had denied until the day she heard the muggle she loved had died. She had accepted and moved to a little building in hogsmeade. But soon her husband had died of I think dragon pox. She was devastated again. But she wanted to protect others like the students and in prisoner of Azkaban she had denied signing the form it was not only because it had to be from a guardian but also because she wanted him safe. And I’m deathly hallows she was the one who formed the team to fight for Hogwarts, she was the one who protected everyone she could, she said only 17+ can fight. She was admirable during the battle of Hogwarts and when they had won she became headmaster. A couple years later Neville longbottum the boy who was cowardly at first had asked to be herbology teacher and she had accepted happily. She had always believed in Neville and she was proud of him being the herbology teacher but there is another brave thing Neville did that only 3 people saw. You can guess of course it was Harry Ron and Hermione. He had destroyed a horcrux without even knowing it. And of course they didn’t go saying what a horcrux is they didn’t want another dark lord. Mcgongall lived on to be happy although not whole but happy to be alive happy that everyone was safe again but mostly happy that Harry was safe. She liked Harry particular but she did still be strict with him. Mcgongall wasn’t whole not because of the deaths of her loved ones but because of Dumbledores death. He was the reason she came to Hogwarts. He was the reason she joined Hogwarts. He was the reason she could go away from that fighting. This shows how strong mcgongall is. Same. Apparently it was going to be Mr.weasly but she didnt want to make 7 children fatherless and lose fans. So she killed sirius instead. So she left harry with no one when the weasleys would have still had their mom. LOGIC.
This is my opinion: Draco was never evil, he was forced to be something he isnt. If you take the incident with Dumbeldore: draco was lowering his wand when Snape came out of nowhere with other death eaters. Draco was crying over the pressure he was under in the bathroom. I think him seeing Katie and Harry triggered that pressure he pushed down. Harry, instead of seeing Draco's side, jumped to conclusions thinking Draco wanted Katie dead because that's all he knew Draco actually did. The only reason Draco took that mark was so he and his mother could live Draco only went over to the Death Eaters at the end because his mother called him. Draco looked away at his father's request but when his mother asked he went over. Draco didn't tell Bellatrix that it was Harry when he clearly knew it was. And when Bellatrix told Draco to call the Dark Lord, he didn't. His father did that. He wanted an escape but knew he never had one because of the way everyone saw him. Nobody even considered that maybe Draco didn't want the mark, maybe he was forced, maybe he didn't want it but Voldemort was living in his house! How could he say no without an escape option!? I'm not saying he's a Saint, because he is a bully- Neville and the countless first years he's cursed as proof. But he was never, never evil. At first, yeah, he wanted to be a Death Eater. But it was the way his father portrayed the idea of being one that made him want that. Truly, I really do not think he was a coward. Being a coward and being scared are two different things. Being a coward would be for a seventh year to fight behind second years as protection. A coward isn't someone who lied to his family about Harry's identity, to choose between his family or people who hate him or to throw Harry his wand and join the light side (I'm classing it as its in the movie. IT SHOULD'VE BEEN!!)
I mean, yeah, Draco's whole character arc is about him not actually being evil. He's just a coward, like most kids / teenagers would have been in his place, and simply not a good person. Gotta disagree on Draco crying over what he did to Katie, that's a huge assumption on your part. He cried because of the pressure he was under and because he was scared. He didn't actually want to kill Dumbledore, or anyone really, that much is true but he was still willing to stop at nothing to save himself and his parents; that no one actually died was only due to his own sloppy planning and the quick thinking of others.

Harry Potter was (is) such a beautiful, complicated, and ever-growing series. To those who say it is just children's books about a magic school and wizards and broomsticks - watch one of these videos. Okay, it might be for children on the surface, but it is so powerful and physical and it influenced so many people's lives. So many people are so passionate about it and even though Harry's story has finished, the series continues to grow and develop and fly and inspire thanks to fandom and people who really care about the characters and story. I honestly couldn't imagine living without it.

We dream of another universe. In 100 years, what if this is forgotten? This has changed everybody's life.. I'm crying over something that helped me through the hardest part of my life and is therefore extremely important to me emotionally. Harry Potter got JKR through depression, Evanna Lynch through anorexia, and so many readers through whatever they were going through. So actually, maybe i am crying over fictional characters. But they're more than that to us.

As for the caveman/telephone analogy, that's fine if you were applying it to science fiction, but completely irrelevant when applied to fantasy, which is what Harry Potter is. And I would hardly say that Rowling is 'amazing.' She had a good idea which proved very popular and she had a vivid imagination, but even if you accept the reality of magic, there's still much that is implausible in the plots, particularly in the areas of time travel and dimensionality.
But the real point of my comment was to congratulate Amber on her guts. We all know how Potterheads tend to react when anyone challenges their beloved alternate reality.

When I think of Harry walking out of Hogwarts, past his friends, past Ginny, and into the woods to die... when I think of Lily, James, Sirius and Remus disappearing when he drops the Resurrection stone... when I think of him continuing on to face Voldemort alone... I like to believe that in that moment, he wasn't really alone. We were with Harry, every step of the way, from when he was 11 to when he was 17. Honestly, when a friend of ours sent me these books, I thought, "ok, something do do over the summer."
Finished the first book the next day.
Finished the series in 16 days.
These books give me a laugh on a tiring or flat out bad day, and leave me grinning like an idiot walking aroud school, or stores, or my house. Luna Lovegood was completely herself. Draco Malfoy showed me not everything is as it seems. Harry Potter was still able to love and trust after 17 hard years. Hermine Granger stood for what she believed in. Ron Weasly was a good friend. Neville Longbottem lived with having to see his parents after they'd been tortured to insanity, and still loved them- that took courage. And McGonagoll was always there for the students, even when it could've meant her job or possibly even her getting sent to Azkaban by Umbridge. If anyone ever says these are "just some books and movies" or JK Rowling is "messing everything up", we might have a problem, cause I'm mean, you cant really explain all that these books mean to someone who hasn't read the series, or atleast seen the movies.

Olivia Chernutan yeah but I think mcgongall wasn’t shown as great as she was from the Harry Potter fandom. Mcgongall had a loved a muggle boy. But she realised that what happens to her parents might happen to her, her parents fought with each other a lot her mother was a with her father was a muggle. She accepted to get engaged at first but then said she changed her mind the day next. She had still loved him but seeing as she worked for the ministry they wouldn’t particularly like her. She had still loved him until he got married. She was heartbroken, also her favourite teacher was her transfiguration teacher professor Dumbledore. When she was asked if she wanted a raise she denied and asked if she could teach at Hogwarts. Dumbledore became head master there and he accepted. I think she became the transfiguration teacher and then head of Gryffindor. She had heard that her love (the muggle) had died. But she wasn’t particularly sad, yes she was a little sad but she felt whole again. A ministry worker or maybe minister of mage liked her and asked to marry her before every week. She had denied until the day she heard the muggle she loved had died. She had accepted and moved to a little building in hogsmeade. But soon her husband had died of I think dragon pox. She was devastated again. But she wanted to protect others like the students and in prisoner of Azkaban she had denied signing the form it was not only because it had to be from a guardian but also because she wanted him safe. And I’m deathly hallows she was the one who formed the team to fight for Hogwarts, she was the one who protected everyone she could, she said only 17+ can fight. She was admirable during the battle of Hogwarts and when they had won she became headmaster. A couple years later Neville longbottum the boy who was cowardly at first had asked to be herbology teacher and she had accepted happily. She had always believed in Neville and she was proud of him being the herbology teacher but there is another brave thing Neville did that only 3 people saw. You can guess of course it was Harry Ron and Hermione. He had destroyed a horcrux without even knowing it. And of course they didn’t go saying what a horcrux is they didn’t want another dark lord. Mcgongall lived on to be happy although not whole but happy to be alive happy that everyone was safe again but mostly happy that Harry was safe. She liked Harry particular but she did still be strict with him. Mcgongall wasn’t whole not because of the deaths of her loved ones but because of Dumbledores death. He was the reason she came to Hogwarts. He was the reason she joined Hogwarts. He was the reason she could go away from that fighting. This shows how strong mcgongall is. Oh and also I hope you read this.

This is my opinion:
Draco was never evil, he was forced to be something he isnt. If you take the incident with Dumbeldore: draco was lowering his wand when Snape came out of nowhere with other death eaters.
Draco was crying over the pressure he was under in the bathroom. I think him seeing Katie and Harry triggered that pressure he pushed down. Harry, instead of seeing Draco's side, jumped to conclusions thinking Draco wanted Katie dead because that's all he knew Draco actually did.
The only reason Draco took that mark was so he and his mother could live
Draco only went over to the Death Eaters at the end because his mother called him. Draco looked away at his father's request but when his mother asked he went over.
Draco didn't tell Bellatrix that it was Harry when he clearly knew it was. And when Bellatrix told Draco to call the Dark Lord, he didn't. His father did that.
He wanted an escape but knew he never had one because of the way everyone saw him. Nobody even considered that maybe Draco didn't want the mark, maybe he was forced, maybe he didn't want it but Voldemort was living in his house! How could he say no without an escape option!?
I'm not saying he's a Saint, because he is a bully- Neville and the countless first years he's cursed as proof. But he was never, never evil. At first, yeah, he wanted to be a Death Eater. But it was the way his father portrayed the idea of being one that made him want that.
Truly, I really do not think he was a coward. Being a coward and being scared are two different things. Being a coward would be for a seventh year to fight behind second years as protection. A coward isn't someone who lied to his family about Harry's identity, to choose between his family or people who hate him or to throw Harry his wand and join the light side (I'm classing it as its in the movie. IT SHOULD'VE BEEN!!)
I mean, yeah, Draco's whole character arc is about him not actually being evil. He's just a coward, like most kids / teenagers would have been in his place, and simply not a good person.
Gotta disagree on Draco crying over what he did to Katie, that's a huge assumption on your part. He cried because of the pressure he was under and because he was scared.
He didn't actually want to kill Dumbledore, or anyone really, that much is true but he was still willing to stop at nothing to save himself and his parents; that no one actually died was only due to his own sloppy planning and the quick thinking of others.
In a deleted scene Draco tosses Harry a wand when he wakes from Hagrids arms. Wish they kept it. Would show who his true alliance is.
I think I want to see Draco's life instead of Harry, Everyone always thinks Draco as misunderstood. Draco is my favorite character in Harry Potter

Harry Potter was (is) such a beautiful, complicated, and ever-growing series. To those who say it is just children's books about a magic school and wizards and broomsticks - watch one of these videos. Okay, it might be for children on the surface, but it is so powerful and physical and it influenced so many people's lives. So many people are so passionate about it and even though Harry's story has finished, the series continues to grow and develop and fly and inspire thanks to fandom and people who really care about the characters and story. I honestly couldn't imagine living without it.

idk why, but i cry knowing that the movie/book is done, it's over. It became our life. It opened up a new look in life, like what if all this stuff was real? We start thinking it's real. We dream of another universe. In 100 years, what if this is forgotten? This has changed everybody's life.. When I first heard of Harry Potter I never understood why people loved it so much, but now I know. This is an alternative universe in all of our heads..

Holy shit... Like many, Harry Potter has been my childhood, I read the books lots and lots and lots of times (watched the movies a few times, but not that much). I haven't read/watch in a few years, and when that image of Lupin and Tonks showed... I just had to pause the video, because the feelings just exploded inside... It lasted only like two or three seconds but it was just so powerful...
