Yeah man the graphics processing on the hardware wasn’t incredible but the CD format allowed for plenty of available memory so they had plenty of art and sound available to beef up the experience since space wasn’t an issue

Kojima has a huge western following now thanks to Metal Gear Solid. I really think they need to re-release this on Steam, Wiiware, PSN, XBLA, 3DS, whatever. This would sell like hot cakes. Even just this Sega CD version. Hell, the only reason it didn't sell in the west in my opinion is because nobody really had a Sega CD.
Good point, especially considering I felt the same way about Snatcher reading about it in game magazines way back when. It was one of the coolest games I'd ever seen, and it goes without saying that there was nothing like it on the reigning 16-bit consoles of the time.

I just watched a Hideo Kojima documentary, and they mentioned this game. Hideo originally planned 6 chapters for Snatcher, but after about a year Konami demanded that they finish the game immediately so they can release it. This caused for only 2 chapters to be finished, thus ending the game in a cliffhanger.

Snatcher's spiritual sequel is policenauts which is another visual novel type game with a few arcade shooting sections, but also featured Meryl. Footage of policenatus appeared when Otacon was talking about about Anime and stuff when you rescue him from Gray Fox. Also in Raiden's bonus mission for MGSV: GZ, you have to hunt down Snatchers. There's plenty of cross referencing in Kojima games, even the HUD for the Ray gear was identical to the layout of the Zone of Enders mechs.
So many great moments in this game. Great story and the voice acting is brilliant. I love all the revelations and plot. One of my favourite games ever.
This is seriously one of the coolest games ever. Probably the Sega CD's best game too. Actually....if you look past most all the 'Live Action FMV' games it had; there were some more decent titles on here. The Lunar series was pretty awesome too.
At 12 years old I first saw screenshots in CVG. Already loved comics, manga, anime and games. You know when you see a screenshot and you just get that feeling? You know that game, was made for you? I got that more intense with Snatcher than any other time in my life with a game. I had also played the NES edition of Metal Gear and put the link together. I went to Lakeside shopping centre Christmas Eve and found one copy in HMV. My Gran got it for me. She raised me, I miss her, it reminds me of her. It changed my life. Totally and utterly changed…my…life. Goosebumps thinking about it now. It’s so personal to me I simply cannot explain. I had never seen or experienced anything else like it. Meeting Kojima for the second time at the Peacewalker launch in London I got him to sign it. It was an emotional experience. Shinkawa signed it too just because fuck it he’s a legend. I don’t tell you this to boast and it’s not bullshit. I tell this story to true gamers. The ones who really get it. Really really get it. It’s not just love. It’s some strange almost spiritual connection to the medium. Miyamoto, Ueda, Taro, Kitase and Nojima all share the skill that Kojima has. This group of Japanese writers and developers are the cream of the crop.
Compared to other games at the era, the voice acting sounded clear and okay, and easier to understand for non native English speakers, even without subtitles. It compliment Kojima's well established story and Blaustein's great translation. No aging cheese to be found in this game. It's a shame that this didn't sold well due to Sega CD being an expensive addon.
Not to mention that he had prrretty good reason to be on edge since someone had thrown a dead dog through a window at him in the house of a former colleague something like half an hour earlier. I feel like they all kinda forgot that there was at least one snatcher around to throw the thing, unless a doberman has such a strong will that they'll leap through windows to underline how serious things are ten minutes after dying.

To this day I have no idea why, but I've never seen the game in action thanks to that idiot. I barely remembered the damn game existed after seeing a link to this vid. I really like the characters in this game. A lot of story-driven games focus more on the impact and motivations of the characters, but this game also includes some goofy moments between the cast. It’s really impressive how much detail there is for a game that came out in 1995.
Heck they should release this on Steam too, this game is a classic, wen this game was released, man those were the days. Somehow this version seems cleaner than PSOne´s, and the background music in this one seem better too, reminds me daft punk alot with all that groovi feeling. +Marx Aur Basic games are the best. Kojima wants to go back to this indie route and be a balance between indie and high-budget games. Konami has not greenlit a Visual novel/adventure project after Policenauts. Konami has been full of crap since then. So many important staff members left. The reason why they can't support the AAA console market anymore without the people who built up Konami. So now Kojima is free and can do whatever he wants. Think I read a interview with Mages (5bp's partner) in Dengeki Playstation that they have a collaboration with Kojima. I'm thinking he's going to make a spiritual successor to Policenauts. Making another mecha game with high-budget approached by a first party company. I don't think his Metal Gear team will stay at Konami, not after what happened to scenario writer of Silent Hill 2, 3, 4 from Team SIlent and the rest of Team Silent. Kojima is taking his staff with him. Shinkawa will go where ever Kojima goes.
In all Sega CD games, this game was the greatest game I've ever played. The story line, the game system, the voice...I loved them all. Too bad you can no longer find it anywhere, and I still don't understand why my uncle sold it away since he knew that was the last piece in this world...
Its on ebay but costs upwards of 700 pounds nowadays, maybe best trying a retro games store or a retro gaming event where they have lots of market stalls i managed to pick up soleil for the megadrive but it was 90 pound another rare classic

One thing I just realized, during Chin's speech to Gillian and Random, circa 3:12:00 Why not have anyone who is a "leader" subject to constant snatcher tests, it would expose them, but then again, they probably depend upon order followers that wouldn't be able to test them unless they asked for it.

Visuals are soooo good for what it is. Music amazing too. Love names in these things like Lucifer Alpha (when we know top secret stuff have more obscure names) and going to enjoy watching this play through. Shame it be censored if it is the Sega CD Version. The way they do the character talking is so like the codecs in MGS :D
I can just remember playing this game quite young and it being one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Although definitely one of the best Sega Megadrive games in my opinion

Console choice. If I recall it was on consoles not big outside Japan. Sega CD was the completed version, I think? The version on the original console which was...the Turbografx/Pc Engine? That ended right at the end of junker headquarters.
James Silver I can't help but feel like Snatcher's is like subtle parody of Blade Runner the War between *Snatchers* and *Junkers* sounds like one big Innuendo XD.
When I first came across this game, it was obscure even back in 1995. It blew me away and introduced me to cyberpunk, a love I still carry to this day. Obviously Blade Runner influenced the story, but I still can’t help seeing this made into a miniseries. Heck with all the indi projects killing it with the streaming studios these days, why the heck not?
i love how the not only extended the intro but the outro too. my only real issue with this ver compared to the pc enguine one is the lack of its zoom tracks and changing them with some exceptions like gillians first monologue, meeting random, and harry's death.

I can't even imagine what it would've been like playing this for the first time in 1995.
Visuals are soooo good for what it is. Music amazing too. Love names in these things like Lucifer Alpha (when we know top secret stuff have more obscure names) and going to enjoy watching this play through. Shame it be censored if it is the Sega CD Version. The way they do the character talking is so like the codecs in MGS :D
I can just remember playing this game quite young and it being one of the most terrifying experiences of my life. Although definitely one of the best Sega Megadrive games in my opinion

+Big Boss Kojima games will live on and Konami will rot in hell. Since Policenauts was a spiritual successor to Snatcher I have no doubt that Kojima will pull off whatever game he wants without being Metal Gear.

Console choice. If I recall it was on consoles not big outside Japan. Sega CD was the completed version, I think? The version on the original console which was...the Turbografx/Pc Engine? That ended right at the end of junker headquarters.

When I first came across this game, it was obscure even back in 1995. It blew me away and introduced me to cyberpunk, a love I still carry to this day. Obviously Blade Runner influenced the story, but I still can’t help seeing this made into a miniseries. Heck with all the indi projects killing it with the streaming studios these days, why the heck not?

i love how the not only extended the intro but the outro too. my only real issue with this ver compared to the pc enguine one is the lack of its zoom tracks and changing them with some exceptions like gillians first monologue, meeting random, and harry's death.
