Hey Lions fans this is rare to have a man like Brad Holmes as our GM he is very methodical and his football knowledge understanding chemistry of talent completely in lock step. More to come I believe it definitely another great season for 2024. Hopefully early 2025. SB
I love his take on guys that have missed time. It’s impossible to predict who’s gonna get injured or not, and that’s why we have one of the best physical therapists in the world working for us so we can react appropriately when those injuries do happen.
Brad, I got to say thank you, you have done something no other general manager has done with the lions in the last 66 years & restored something special within this organization.
This man is awesome 😎 I love the honesty I love people that tell you exactly what they're feeling no BS they're living in the real world not like fantasy world Go Lions
Holmes is in a tropical paradise in march rather than scraping ice off his windshield in Detroit... having ur head in the right place can make all the difference... love him
So glad he made a point to show respect to Josh Reynolds and how important he would be to this team going forward. Hope it works out and we can draft more linemen! Blocking & Tackling! It all starts with the linemen & I hope they would go with Defensive End first! More Edge Rushers! -> like a home-town guy = Darius Robinson and then Offensive line too, (Zack Fraiser would be good! & Zack Zinner too) GO LIONS!
I'm so happy he said something about the injuries to players and how he doesn't care unless it's obvious he's missed a lot of time every year. He pointed out what iv been telling people that healthy players get hurt too look at cj last year.
This is what it feels like to have a great GM? Stability? I don't know how to react to competence at every level of the organization 😅 it's the first time I've witnessed it in my lifetime.
Brad I hope you do like you did last year ... Get the guys YOU want and get the hell out of there... Don't need volume that Dan will have to cut anyway - move up and get you three or four guys in the first three rounds that meet your high standards and Lets Fricken Go!
I have been a die hard fan since 68 - Shiela, Brad, and Dan are the best leadership this team has ever had! This team is the reward that all loyal fans have waited for and deserve. One Pride - Go Lions!
Hard to believe how many low picks have been excellent picks. Attitude , intelligence go along ways without that athleticism isn't enough and its obvious Brad understands that quite well.
Brad could trade up to 1/1 and select a kicker, get crucified for doing it but you know damn well that rookie would hit a 60 yard game winner in Super Bowl 59.
As Lions fans, we couldn't be more lucky that this whole organization has flipped and is completely new. We went thru the hard times, and we're rising baby! GO LIONS!!!! ❤❤❤
I respect the gratitude for the ownership, I loved Martha taking over when Jr. passed, the Detroit Lions have a legacy that goes back, and it's a stinky story. I was raised a Lions fan and I chose to be a fan when we drafted Joey Harrington. I realize you can't share secrets, I have run two businesses myself. I just stayed a night in the Pontch, the week before the '24 draft took place in Detroit. You have a big job on your shoulders sir. God speed.
I love history, football in America reminds me of chariot racing in Rome, then in Constantinople (the Blues vs the Reds and Theodora bucking up Justinian after the Nika riots).
All his picks contribute he dont miss & ima Pats fan he going 4 a 4peat he playing with house money..they going pass rusher in the first every pick after is ice on the cake or corner but his free agency corners hittin..team of the future
Listen up reporters, you want a really good question for our resident genius, Bread Holmes? Here you go: "It seems that you like to go to certain universities or colleges for a certain pedigree of players in the past few drafts. Do you think that will change with head coaches like Nick Saban retiring, or Harbaugh moving to the NFL?" And if it was asked, I didn't hear it because y'all don't annunciate your questions.
I love his drafting ability. I wish we weren't so damn cheap with the players, though. We miss out on guys like Sneed. Below market offer to Reynolds. Generally it's fine. I get it. Be shrewd. But sometimes, we've got to pay guys that are worth it if we want to contend with the big boys every year. Take some swings, man.
This dude very may well be the lios GM for a very long time. I honestly think he could be here till he wants to retire especially if we get a sb out of it any time soon
I thought his best answer came when he spoke on injured players That felt like a message to the fans, "Hey, these guys are gonna be just fine" However, it doesn't mean I agree with Brad Holmes, I would rather get a guy through free agency or the draft that has proven to be durable. As long as the Lions keep on their winning ways, I'm a happy man. I'm just not going to act like Brad Holmes has never made a bad draft pick or has never signed a bad free agent.
Pretty sure Dave Birkett annoys the shit out of Brad. Maybe it’s brotherly banter, but there’s always a subtle jab at Birkett during these pressers and it cracks me up
Best GM, hands down. Whatever you decide, i trust man. Listening to you is a breath of fresh air after the millen and quinn years. All the stupid draft pics🙄🙄🙄
This is our last chance to get a Nick Saban developed Bama player. We are definitely getting one. I think we get a Seminole this year too. We'll see. In Brad we trust.
His whole logic about players that have been injured has one major problem. If a player has had a more injuries, they are more likely to reinjure or have more injuries moving forward. No guarantees or anything, but the flat probability of more injuries or reinjuring go up. That should be more of a factor. We DO seem to sign guys that have a history of significant injuries for deals. Why is he always so defensive?
Because it’s constantly brought up as if he hasn’t rationalized that very obvious fact. As he quite literally pointed out YES if he’s seeing guys who’ve consistently missed a bulk of time he’s going to take that into account with the roster construction. But he isn’t grabbing a player thinking he’s not going to play the bulk of the season or in the playoffs. This isn’t difficult to understand.
@@Jonathan-cz4ky Reader, Mosely, Onziwurke, others. These aren't guys that have just missed a couple games. I'm saying his explanation doesn't account for the added risk of these types of players. This isn't hard to understand.
It does as I already explained in laymen's terms actually. First of all, not all of the people you mentioned were known to consistently miss bulks of a season. Levi missed 1 season in college, and got unlucky with his back injury. Still played this past year. Reader has only 1 season where he's played less than 10 games, otherwise he's normally playing 14 plus games a year. Mosely has been put on IR 4 times now, which is why they're still looking at cornerback even though he's signed. The overwhelming majority of our players do not have that sort of history, and there's a balancing act with that. I mean this should be common sense. What do you think team depth is for exactly? And are you supposed to just grab a body just because they have a better injury history, that make sense to you? @@mikeromano8140

Right and not green bays or something lol
Me too😊

Love this man as our GM!!! I live out of state and I can now wear my lions gear without getting laughed at!!!

.. Improve the SECONDARY is the MOST Important thing .. Taking the Best Available Player , is Cool as well .. BUT .. Keep the Secondary in Mind
You do realize the best available could be secondary right? Also, why would any gm telegraph who they want 3 weeks before the draft
BPA only
he literally said that you can never have enough of "those guys" and that they have never gone through a draft without drafting one.
They will always take BPA. Just keep your uninformed opinions to yourself
