LOL. Obviously you've never met a EFL teacher in your life. They may pick up a few useful phrases, but they never learn to speak Korean properly.

This really depends on the person. Its kind of like people with good numerical skills, athleticism etc. Not saying if you have little linguistic skills you will never learn. People with intense interest for language + intrinsic skills tend to learn faster. I have met many so called English teachers who could not for their life learn Korean even after 5-6 years. I have also met young people who come to Korea for the pure interest in the culture and can communicate almost flawlessly within a year or two. Its quite amazing!

He's an English teacher and his wife speaks English, he obviously doesn't encounter that many Korean speakers hence why he doesn't speak Korean well. Also he probably picked up the habit of speaking slowly so his students and kids understand him... Or he could have a speech problem. Either way most of you are jerks for calling him creepy. He's obviously a good father and dad!!!

It's a normal thing in human.
My dad speaks really fast. So I got that habit from my dad and I speak fast too. So sometime people cannot follow me. It's normal thing people speak slow or fast
it annoying me how all these people are saying how he sings horrible, like do you guys realize that music isn't just singing. not all musicians sing, there's some that are talented in certain aspects of music. there are singers, song writers, instrument players, music writers, ect. just because he can't sing great doesn't mean he's not a great musician. he clearly know how to play musical instruments and maybe that's where he's stronger at, he also said he loves to write songs. So before someone judges him and says oh how can he be a musician or a music teacher because he can't sing, know that music isn't just about singing.
He is so much more pleasant to watch than most people on here that don't know much Korean for some reason. And he is such a great father and husband. Definitely a great episode.

First of all, to the people leaving mean comments about his singing, appearance, lack of Korean language skills, or the way he speaks English 진짜 그만하세요 please stop. Y'all have no right to speak that way about anyone who is just sharing their life experience. How the heck would you feel if someone said these things about you? He's a person too who is just doing what he loves just like most of you do, so stop treating him as someone who doesn't have feelings.
And honestly there's a lot of Koreans living in America that have yet to master English so they should really back off

So many ignorant comments on these videos. He works in an English environment. His sons are being raised in Korea and therefore it's very important he speak English at home with them so THEY learn English fluently. He is the main breadwinner. And he seems to take care of a good portion of the house work. The people commenting "He's so lazy, he can't even speak Korean very well at all" clearly know very little about language learning and the time and effort it requires. 5 years is a long time if you're a full time student and are able to use Korean ALL day. 5 years is a short amount of time when you do not have the ability to study full time and have other obligations and priorities. You do not just "pick up" a language unless you're under a certain age (usually around 5) and it seems he's doing his best to afford his children the opportunity to be bilingual native speakers by using English around them. Of course it would be awesome if he could speak Korean better but we can not judge him. There are only 24 hours in a day. It's also only a 45 min. program. It's very plausible he speaks more Korean than was shown. It's very different when you're learning a new language in a multicultural country like the U.S versus a country like Korea where everyone wants to practice their English and you'll be spoken to in English even when you speak in Korean because you look foreign and people aren't used to non-Korean Korean speakers. Be very grateful if you have the ability to focus on language study full-time, were taught more than one language as a child and/or are treated as a native in the country you're studying a language in (that helps a lot). Not everyone has those luxuries. I speak from experience as a teacher of English as a Second Language having experience in both the U.S and Korea, the wife of a non-native English speaker and a continuing Korean Studies student.

He shares the housework with his wife and does most of it. Okay, thats rare at least to me. Would you like a very common typical husband from my country? A husband would go to work then come home and would wait in the table to be served food then sleep. He then wakes up and might play with the kids, but once they cry its the mom's duty to take care of the situation. A husband isnt responsible of raising kids, they just pay for everything. If the wife works what happens then? Still the same! She works outside and inside the house. He still wont clean or wash anything.

I'm really surprised by all of the comments that he is creepy, or speaks English in some strange way. Where specifically can someone show me a sample of either? I just see a regular guy speaking naturally who is obviously aware he's being filmed so is being careful. In *that* sense, a lot of guests are a bit unnatural. But that's very different from being scary or creepy. I do think that after 5 years he should be speaking Korean quite well. I also think he is a bit clueless around the house and lacks sense in some ways. Not creepy at all though.
I've watched probably 50 or more episodes of this show since it came out and I can't remember seeing as many comments about other Caucasian males being creepy or scary. So while I'm sure some people do in fact harbor unwarranted fears based on race and gender, it doesn't satisfy my curiosity in this case.

give the guy some slack.. he probably doesn't that much korean because at house his wife speaks to him in english.. at school he is an english teacher.. one way to learn a language is to immerse urself in it.. but with his case, everyone around him rarely speaks in korean..

Also, yes, he doesn't know Korean and should learn, but he's probably surrounded by people speaking English and maybe he's too busy? You're right though. He should be learning. I can sense and feel the sadness in his eyes ...is like he is living in some sort of cage without his dreams... it just breaks my heart to see him live like that...he looks so empty... In my opinion, the wife is not working. For this reason they can decide to migrate to US for Aaron's dream.
Its easier for housewife to migrate than a career person.

It's nice to when couples support and compliment each other. I appreciate it's hard to be filmed all the time. I wonder if there is something lost in translation with the narration sometimes or if it's a cultural thing as to me it sometimes seems critical or rude. For example, when they say 'You should...' etc etc. I do like this program though and give thanks to it and the couples and families that appear on it being there to educate viewers about different cultures and ways of thinking. We are not all the same and that is a good thing.

They are such a sweet family. I like that Aaron isn't giving up his passion for music, but I feel like if he improved his Korean he would perhaps have a chance at being like a songwriter or composer, singing for sure isn't his forte tho. He's trying but his voice is a bit struggle, he definitely needs to work on that. He seems like a genuinely nice guy tho, his wife is really lucky to have him. He's also very lucky to have a wife as supportive as she is.
