I've seen this top on the actual cars. I've used this on my kit. I have had three of these and one I gave to my dad. I got the first one in 1986 - I think. I'm not sure. Either way I've never had much problem but when I built it I had no real experience and it shows!! Most of this was put together correctly but I had to go over it again and buy a new body and all new chrome and glass parts. Someone had started it but I cleaned the paint off. I didn't know that you can use Easy-off oven cleaner to remove paint from polystyrene without damaging it. I used 600 grit but now that I have a lot more experience I can fix this too. Any way this is a great kit and I will enjoy rebuilding it once I get it smoothed and all the small parts corrected. Thank you for posting this video!
I think you'll like it. Check out HobbyTime with PapaDan channel. He built one about a year ago. There was some issue with something on it. I can't remember what.
I have an opportunity to purchase this kit. After watching this review, I'm going to jump on it......looks like a great model! Thanks for the great review!
I have one of these that is AMT! DATED 1990, Box has been opened but all parts still in unopened bags, its getting so old now I am hesitant to open and build it!
the parts on the body are most likely there to keep the body from warping i built one years and years ago builds up nice i messed up mine when i painted it but still a very nice kit
If you send an e-mail to "fredsmodelworldonline",(it's a .com address), with the MPC kit # he might be able to give you an issue date. I'm sure it's not an original issue because of the ERTL marking on the box. I have 4 of this kit and only one is an AMT/ERTL. I bought all 4 of mine at Fred's, best prices anywhere. The pieces in the doors/trunk/hood are to keep the body from warping.
Pvmntpndr66 Thanks for the info. Yes indeed, Fred would know. I would end up buying kits though. lol. I agree, great prices with Fred. I love his long stories he writes with his list updates.
Ha,I always end up making a list of 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choices whenever I see a new list. I used to get an advanced list but I'd end up spending 2 to 300 bucks. I enjoy his tales as well. He's actually quite a good story teller.

I am just finishing one now. Found for $ 32.00 . it goes together so sweet.
I have that exact model from AMT. Molded in white and black. It is quite the fiddly build.
I built this kit back in 93. I'm rehabbing it now.
I just got this kit and look forward to the build. The wheels are way to wide and need to be trimmed. Apart from that it should come up well.
It does appear to be a great kit. A friend built one and there was one issue that I can't remember, but it was something easy enough to overcome.
Just received/started to build this kit

Exactly why I do these. Better than a few pics on an auction, isn't it? And oh yes, this kit looks to be quite good.

gene miller Thanks Gene. Makes sense.
Great review really cool kit
I had this kit Mike. You would never imagine what I traded it for... Yes, a Monogram '57 Chevy 1:12 scale, like I needed another one...
CCCP Digital Studio LOL! But you do such a great job on them!
These first came out around 82
Great review thanks for sharing

Spray on oven cleaner works quicker. Wear a mask.
