Earthwind n Fire will always be my favorite!! They are a Class Group !! I miss MAURICE!! IT STILL SADENS ME THAT HE IS GONE !! Still Very hard to Accept !!
he may not wow you with his playing at NAMM because he's not a chop guy bu,t you better bet he will WOW you when you listen to the bass lines he came up with and laid down on those EWF records absolute GENIUS!!! and all those chop guys spend cray time learning and will never create what he did!!! one of the GOAT's
"Maurice White, My Life With Earth Wind and Fire," by Herb Powell. For serious EWF fans, this is an account of Maurice White's cherished memories from his mouth, going back to those childhood days in Memphis, where his fascination with drumming, and marching band parades, first started. The book is a must have keepsake, for the fire still burning in all of us, from this man's dream turned reality, Earth Wind, and Fire.
Verdine White is such a big teddy bear in heart. One of the greatest bass player of all time. I am a true fan of EWF and glad to say that Verdine White, Philip Bailey and Ralph Johnson are keeping the 🎶 music and the vision of Maurice White alive by passing on the music to our young people. My Neices and Nephews and great my great Neices & Nephews know the music of Earth Wind & Fire!!!These guys are true legends. Their music will live on.🎶 🎵 🧸
Verdine is a humble human being and I had the honor of doing a show opening for EWF in 2000 in Morocco. It was an unusual show (I was playing bass with Eartha Kitt) that featured Eartha Kitt, EWF and James Brown for the King's 37th Birthday. We only had the one performance, but we were in Rabat, the Capital, for 3 days. I had a chance to do my own interview with Verdine and learn a lot of history of which I'm grateful. With that said, the photo you have at the introduction of this video (:53 mark) is not Verdine's bass teacher and EWF Horns trombonist Louis Satterfield. That's Philadelphia bassist and Ornette Coleman alum Jamalaadeen Tacuma.
EWF performed at Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento in ‘75 and ‘76 and sadly didn’t come back to Sac until after their revival (System of Survival) Touch the World LP. released ‘87
Thank uou for respectfully providing an account of this truly marvellous music citizenship family, EW&F, I still listen to their music today, forever timeless ❤
I love all the band, so talented men. And very friendly band. All of them very nice, humble and easy going. Verdine is very outgoing in the shows which I love it when he jumps and runs and makes the audience so happy. He is very home guy who loves to be at home with his wife.🎉🎉❤
See The Light from That's The Way Of The World and Sunshine from Gratitude are among my favorite EWF songs. Verdine is among the great bass players on the planet. 🎶🎸❤️🙏🏾👑👍🏾🎼
Amazing man! Legendary musician, fantastic singer, performer, writer, singer, infectious smile, just great to see this man who I have admired since the early seventies, as a kid discovering Earth, Wind and Fire.
@Behind the scenes Beauty w/ D.M. ... You present very well by letting Mr. White tell his story without interrupting. Also, your recall regarding James Baldwin and placing the cut-in for reference is next level. Many respects to you, your craft, and your team..
I applaud Verdine, I have nothing but respect for him , not only as a great bass player, but also as a human being. I will always love the music of Earth, Wind and Fire. It guided me thru my life all the ups and downs. All I can say is THANK YOU,!!!!
@@DerickMonroe yes, so true, the beauty of music is that it brings all kinds of people together and transcend above color and language. And that is definitely the case with the music of Earth, Wind and Fire!
I found you by happenstance but, am officially a new fan and subbie. I've brm binge watching your videos. You are attentive, respectful and excited to talk to legends. God bless and keep doing this. Sending PEACE and LOVE from Philadelphia
The interviewer asked how they stayed together for so many years, but if you think about it, Earth, Wind. and Fire is Verdine, Philip and Ralph. There were nine all together. Other than Maurice I would’ve asked what happened to the other five, Larry Dunn, Al McKay, brother Fred White (who just passed away), Andrew Woolfolk(who died last spring) and Johnny Graham?
I still feel such a sadness !!! I read a lot about EARTH WIND AND FIRE !! THEIR STORY !! I FEEL LIKE I CAN IMAGINE WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH ... UP'S AND DOWNS !! THEIR STORY OF FAME AND LOSS. THEY EXPIERENCED IT ALL !! AND STILL STAYED ON TOP !! I TRULY FEEL A WARMTH IN MY HEART AND MY MIND !! THAT WILL STAY FOREVER !!! I STILL FEEL SOME ANGER THAT MAURICE IS GONE !! BUT SO HAPPY THAT 3 OF THE ORIGINALS ARE STILL TOGETHER !! THEY ARE DECENT MEN !!
This group was my theme song through hogh school. There will NEVER be music like this again. I always say "if you were a teenager in the 70s...you are the SHIT" M Y HUSBAND OF 47 YRS INTRODUCED ME TO THEM🙏🙏💙💓🦾 S/ON TO D MCCALL
Im late to the party. VERY GOOD INTERVIEW. I grew up listening to EW&F and the COMMODORES. In my opinion!!! EWF and the COMMODORES are the best 2 R&B soul bands in the history of American R&B music. Which band is number 1 is arguable? In my opinion!!! MINT CONDITION is a solid number 3 for best R&B band of all time.
Verndine is so HUMBLE. I am still an EWF fan for life.
These men, this band, this family of poets transported my entire soul when I was a child. The more you listen the deeper the message gets. Timeless.

EW&F was on a TV special last night, and I've been binging ever since. Verdine is a class act, and Philip Bailey's vocal range is insane.

It blew my mind when I read how Maurice White picked cotton. Later he wrote a slave song called "Ain't no Harm to Moan"
