  • In this review we take a look at Ollie dog food. This is one of the new popular options for fresh & human grade dog food which is delivered to home. You can set it to be delivered based on a profile you crate for your dog and set a delivery schedule of 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 8 weeks.
    In this review we go into all the aspects of Ollie including the ingredients and recipes and whether they offer diversity. We cover sourcing and production and cover aspects that may be important to you as a dog owner and whether or not Ollie may be a good fit for dogs with allergies, skin issues or other factors.
    Wondering if Ollie is organic or if Ollie is grass fed? We cover these important points in our review.
    We also cover the handling experience of receiving flash frozen food and what steps you need to go through to feed it to you dog, and as always give you a real world taste test and feedback on what it was like. If you have been wondering about a possible alternative to kibble or canned food and maybe are not willing to do home prepared dog food or a raw barf based diet then you may want to consider a "fresh cooked" dog food like Ollie.
    Important update for pricing - I have multiple people communicating that if you go with the shorter delivery interval that you are being charged a "short delivery type surcharge on top of the normal food / delivery cost" The amount looks to vary but I have customer confirming an increase in the range of $40 to $80 dollars.

    I really enjoyed your review, very informative. I agree with all of what you presented here especially the need for Ollie to have more options on their website. I'm a firm believer that if I can sign-up for something on a website then I should be able to cancel on the web site. Sending an email or calling is unacceptable especially considering the cost of the product.

      Thanks for the feedback and the view. I will definitely be detailing this aspect of the companies in the forthcoming 10 company comparative review. I will say I have already seen some companies improve considerably in this regard offering the ability to cancel or pause subscriptions via the website. Have a great day.

    I'm guessing this is for Ollie's old packaging. Was each tray portioned for 1 day? Or did you have to scoop half a tray per day?

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog
      @ExperiencesWithMyDog  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The new packaging was a portioned for the whole day essentially one serving or you couple split and feed it twice a day. While Ollie portions it out for you we fed Modok 8oz a day. Hope that helps.

      I would strongly recommend a digestive supplement of sometime if he has been on the same food for more than 6 months. My recommend would be optagest. Fresh food generally is much easier to transition than kibble but still depends on your dog's gut health. Consider extending the transition time a few extra days along with providing the optagest it is from inclover. Additionally fat helps nutritional absorption and for a dog fighting a disease I would recommend adding in goat's milk as a daily supplement either as a topper or after the meal. If it was me I would consider a switch to a raw diet specifically Answers Pet Food. They have recommendations they have also done trails for specifically for dogs that are fighting cancer and many other ailments. The cost in my opinion would be lower than Ollie and the quality is superior. The only factor is whether your dog will respond to a "cold" food. Here the goat's milk helps considberly in driving appetite as well as absorption of nutrients. Best wishes to you and your pup during this time. Staffies / bully breeds hold an extra special for me so I hope for the best.

    They charge an arm and a leg, but nothing is organic.

    Does the food have bone or do you have to add that ?

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog
      @ExperiencesWithMyDog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does not directly contain bone meal but it is not required. They have directly added dicalcium phosphate and calcium carbonate as part of viatmins and minerals. This replaces the need to add bone meal directly. If you like you can still add bone broth or fish stock to further supplement. Stay tuned if you have not subscribed. I have been posting on IG intial unboxings of 10 cooked dog food companies that will be reviewed on the channel independently as well in a full 10 way comparative review. This also includes an updated look at Ollie in 2019 which has changed a little ( mainly in the look a day the processing ) otherwise the rest of the information in the review is current and accurate.

    Did you cut the pits ears

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog
      @ExperiencesWithMyDog  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, I do not believe in ear croping. Modok is a rescue; he was adopted with his ears already cropped. It actually can be a serious issue if done incorrectly as it removes the flap of the ears which serve to protect the ear canal from dust, debris and dander and increases rates of infection. A good diet and ear checks help though. The day he was adopted when I checked his ears the canals were impacted fully to the point he cried when they were flushed and cleaned. Thankfully now one of his favorite things are ear massages.

    Is this food grain free or whole grain?

    • @ExperiencesWithMyDog
      @ExperiencesWithMyDog  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes this a grain free dog food. There are no primary grain based ingriedients like wheat, barley, oats. Additionally there is no soy only complex carbs like Potatoes m with that noted based on recent changes to their packaging I would recommend you consider other options like Raised Right or Evermore pet foods or Just Food For Dogs. I will be doing a large multi comparison soon where I am hoping to cover 9 companies side by side.

      Experiences With My Dog is there a timeframe for this side by side review? I'm looking forward to it!

      Side by side comparisons amongst the companies will start hopefully late next month the comprehensive 10 part company review will probably go up in December or early January. I will be splitting it into multiple video covering specific parts comparing each food. Stay tuned. If you have specific questions let me know.

    I checked it out. This stuff costs a fortune! And the poor animals are factory farmed.

      This is why I noted concerns at the end in my conclusion regarding pricing and sourcing. With this noted compared to many options it still offers a better quality of food. If you have watched our previews we will be covering other options which include superior options for animal protein sourcing like Evermore Pet foods. They personally for me offer the best as all the proteins are pasture-raised and include organic ingredients. Again you will pay a much higher cost for better sourcing. Some alternate options include Awnsers Raw pet food, Open Farm pet food, K9 Naturals, Ziwi Peak Dog Food, Only Natural Pet mindful meals. We will be looking to include this information in our upcoming comparative analysis as well as also have a dedicated video to dog food which is pasture / free-range. An alternate option is also considering a plant-based dog food ( free of animal protein ) like Wild Earth dog food. For me personally, I feed my dogs a diet of generally free-range or pasture-raised proteins but in smaller QTY's this allows me to save on cost as I do not follow feeding guidelines communicated on the packaging. This allows me to balance the cost considerations that go into more expensive foods. Thanks for your feedback, as I have noted in our reviews we will be definitely looking to include sourcing and cost consideration in the multi-company comparative video.
