👏🙏 Thank you so much for taking the time, effort and energy to create such an amazingly beautiful looking and sounding drum! I'll get a recording of it soon enough.

Through the iPhone speaker, the shell seems especially prominent in the sound, with the snares sitting more in the background. Love it!

Jesus dude, tiny 3-4 inch pieces of wood, entirely with your fingers, ripping long boards with no riving knife or splitter....by the looks of the shop it appears you're a very experienced woodworker but those are rookie level oversights. If you've been doing it that way all along, you're very lucky to still have all ten fingers. Not telling you what to do but man, really consider employing even the most basic safety precautions. If nothing else, let me appeal to your future potential embarrassment: would you feel cool having to a) tell people that you mangled your hand because it was gonna save you 90 seconds, or b) having to make up a story to hide that fact? It's not difficult nor expensive to do it the right way.

I appreciate your concern for safety-it’s always good to keep each other in check. Defining the "right way" can definitely change from one woodworker to another, but I think we can all agree that keeping those blades sharp is crucial for both precision and safety. It's all about finding that balance between technique and caution. Thanks for looking out for the community!

@@OutlawDrum Well yes, of course keeping blades sharp is incredibly helpful. And certainly if you're comfortable risking your digits regularly for the sake of either machismo or simply because it's faster, that's your business. Just ask yourself, if you were standing there, holding your hand and looking at your fingers sitting there on the table, how much would you pay to have them reattached? Because for like 50 bucks you can buy tools (Milescraft Grabber Pro, among many others) that might take 5 extra seconds to use, but very, very significantly lower the risk of grotesque injury.
But as I say, it's up to each person to decide their level of risk. No disrespect, and your drums look exceptional.

@ Thanks for the thoughtful response! I totally get where you're coming from-safety should always be a priority, and it's smart to consider the trade-off between speed and risk. Those tools you mentioned can really make a difference in preventing injuries, and I will pick one up. Appreciate the compliment on the drums too! Here’s to creating safely and skillfully!🙏🙏🤘
